Sorry that Spice shirt is not poplin at all, is cotton/linen!

Laska2Meryls · 10/05/2022 21:14

Hi Countmeout..
If its 'garment dyed' originally, it will be much more successful dyed as the thread is likely to be cotton and not poly.. if not, there is a risk that the thread will not change colour..
Cotton linen and viscose all dye well so as long as its one of those it should.. you may lose the pattern , but maybe not depending on how dark your dye colour is. So say if you want it navy and buy a Dylon navy for the washing machine, it should come out true with one go..
Remember you can mix dyes ...normal.colour mix rules apply, as in paint colours but if you want a lighter shade of to the dye colour shown you can achieve that by dyeing with other things , for example do it with a couple of towels so you are using more fabric than each pack should dye..
Hope thats useful, its always a bit of a gamble...
I have used other dyes than Dylon such as idye which has a larger range of colours, but Dylon machine is by far the easiest to use..

I have heard that machine dye shouldn't be used in a machine with a dryer ( mine doesn't ) but I always run an empty cycle after and make sure that I clean around the inner seal with a couple of paper towels

I wouldn't bother taking out the tie , it should dye ok with the rest of the dress

Thanks @Laska2Meryls that is really use useful. I’ll have a go. Mine is not a washer dryer either .

ToastCosILoveIt · 12/05/2022 21:23

What did everyone think of the styling video? I loved the Ikat shirt but it's not in stock yet. I had bought the men's version for my husband: I don't want us to match though!

Countmeout · 13/05/2022 08:47

I liked the Ikat skirt @ToastCosILoveIt . I wonder how they decide which items to put on the models. The jumpsuit was styled just as it is on the website. It’d be nicer to see other variations.
I like the look of the panelled cotton trousers and that elm check shirt. I thought that was a very wearable outfit. However I don’t need more trousers.
I thought the Flotsam dress looked much better on than expected. I like the other dress the Alder that they wafted in front of us but it would have been better to see it on for fit.
Apologies to anyone who has the raffia embroidered shirt but I don’t quite see the point of it. Surely it feels stiff or bulky where the raffia is. I did like the culottes they paired it with though.

Countmeout · 13/05/2022 10:30

Well my shorts arrived this morning and sadly they’re absolutely perfect @JustforToast .
just the right length above myfat knees (I’m 5’4)
fixed waist, I would say similar fit to Annie jeans.
waist is adjustable.
I will have to wear them forever at the price

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/05/2022 11:14

They look rather nice @Countmeout , I'm 5' 4" as well and assumed they would be too long on me.
Although I don't really need any more shorts as I bought the space check ones earlier and it hasn't been shorts weather here yet.

JustforToast · 14/05/2022 06:51

Those shorts look great @Countmeout ! I’m going to Toast on Monday so will try them on. They are so expensive - but then I wasted money on so many pairs of wrong shorts over the years - maybe one perfect pair can be justified

JustforToast · 14/05/2022 06:54

I watched the video and love that ikat shirt. The collar really elevates it..as nikki would say. I’m not so keen on the rest of the items, the colour palette this season is not for me

Stoic123 · 14/05/2022 11:32

I was also surprised by the look of the flotsam dress - I think much nicer than the tie dye dress looked on the same model.

Colours also rubbish for me but I might try the flat fronted denim trousers and linen pannelled trousers to see how they look on.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/05/2022 14:50

I tried the flat fronted denim trousers on, they were lovely and really flattering, however at full length they were far too long on me. In hindsight perhaps I should have bought them and taken them up, but as I’ve since bought a couple of other pair of trousers I can’t really justify getting them.

Countmeout · 16/05/2022 09:37

Thank you @Theteapotsbrokenspout and @JustforToast . Fear I won’t find a better fit , last year ended up clutching at pair of shorts late in the season , so will keep (forever) .

The very expensive title dress looked very long. Agreed the flotsam looked much better on the model.

Stoic123 · 16/05/2022 10:26

Reporting back. Bought the flat fronted denim trousers - a good length on me (I'm 5'7" short waisted) with flat shoes. Not sure they are entirely flattering with my hips but, as I never tuck in tops, hips/bottom will be hidden.

The material is absolutely lovely and these trousers are so comfortable. A great weight- lighter than normal denim so wearable on all but the very hottest summer day. I am a 14 in RL and bought the 12 which accomodated my menopausal belly. Others could size down further.

ElizabethBennetismybestfriend · 16/05/2022 11:42

Panelled linen trousers just arrived. Ordered XS. Usually 10 in RL. Great fit. Keeping my eyes peeled for if the green come back in stock.

FiddleFigs · 16/05/2022 16:38

Has anyone tried/bought the Lydia jumpsuit? Irritatingly, only one photo online (of the front only), so difficult to get a sense of how it might look on an actual person.

happysoju · 16/05/2022 23:09

Hi! New to the forum- I'm neither a mum nor located in GB but just wanted to join in on all the toast chatter haha.

Just bit the bullet and bought black Ola sandals and the Rowan dress in a size 8. Buying from New Zealand is such a gamble, and since I ordered yesterday, someones placed a review saying to size up (which I've never heard of for toast!!).

Funny that my first Toast garment was too big (ordered a 10) and now an 8 might be too small. Just can't win with you Toast! Will post an update when they arrive...

AFingerofFudge · 17/05/2022 10:49

Welcome @happysoju

I am an infrequent poster but a long-standing Toast lover. It is quite a commitment for you to order from New Zealand, I really hope your items fit well and you don't have the dreaded returns to deal with!

I was completely underwhelmed with all of the summer offerings, until I had a second look at the toast Live , and really liked the top and trousers that the presenter was wearing (I often watch what she wears as I am short like her, but more round!) I am tempted to order both, they are sitting in my basket !

ilovecherries · 17/05/2022 13:41

figs, I’ve had the Lydia jumpsuit sitting in my basket for weeks trying to decide.

Welcome happysoju

NoCureForLove · 17/05/2022 18:48

Give uz z link Fudge? 😀

AFingerofFudge · 17/05/2022 23:16

I've ordered the jersey shirt and the poplin trousers. The trousers may well be hideous, I'm psychologically prepared to face the returns process!!

Well it's been very quiet on this thread of late. Not much Toasting going on I guess. I'm off to Italy next week and hoped for a new Toast swimsuit, but nothing new in stock so will have to dig out my old one. But I did order the panelled cotton linen trousers and the gathered neck poplin tank top and they are both keepers! So I'm off on holiday with my new Toast gear. Ciao!

Snowyowl78 · 19/05/2022 17:07

@MrsCat1 which trousers did you get and what are they like on length? Considering the brown pair but I’m not sure I should have brown trousers. They’d go with more than the green though I think and a lot of my tops are blue which will fare better with the brown. Enjoy your hols!

MrsCat1 · 19/05/2022 17:46

I got these:

www.toa.st/collections/womens-trousers/products/panelled-cotton-linen-trousers-celadon-green

Nice pale green - would go with blue. I am 5ft 8 inches and they are nearly full length on me which is great. They sit nicely in the waist. Not too baggy.

ShangPie · 19/05/2022 23:03

Just back from a Toast Circle event, and picked up a few lovely new-to-me items:

A stripy white, navy and brown t shirt
A red wool sweater with side neck buttons and slightly wide cuffs
A deep red long sleeveless dress with blue wavy lines
A pair of pull-up denim trousers

very happy to swap out my old jumpsuit and trousers for these gems!

Hopefully there are some Circle events near you - I got my free ticket from Eventbrite
