Here it is done up . The 12 is plenty big enough on me .. but it does have wide bracelet length sleeves which make ot seem more jacket-like .. I agree that its lightweight but will work over a dress or another shirt , as in the previous photo. But I dont think that I will wear it as a shirt on its own

Looking good laska! Agree it looks quite like a workwear jacket.

@SirSidneyRuffDiamond

I went to the Toast shop in Marlow today to try on the Seersucker check cotton dress in a size 8 (as it isn't available in that size online currently). I absolutely loved it - much nicer in real life and hangs beautifully. The two ladies in the shop were also really lovely - very welcoming and friendly, but not pushy. It was such a nice shopping experience that it makes me want to buy more from "real" shops rather than always defaulting to online to save time.
I preordered it in an 8 earlier, now sold out again. I tried in a 10 in the shop and it was huge on me. Last 3 Toast dresses 6,8,8. Confused Im a RL 12.

If it still doesnt fit then I will return to a Toast shop to avoid returns issues.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 30/03/2022 16:31

@TempleofZoom I'm a real size 10 (sometimes 12 in trousers depending on the hip measurement - I have a 26 waist but a 38 hip!!) and I'm generally an 8 in Toast, occasionally a 6. I could probably have sized down in this dress but there was no gaping from the v-neckline which is a real issue for me as I am short-waisted and have a puny rib cage. Also I think the 6 might have been more of a wrestle to get on because there is no zip/button fastening and I have an intermittent shoulder joint mobility issue. A 10 would have swamped me around the chest I reckon. I did think the sleeves might have too much material, but actually I liked the gathering and construction of them.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 30/03/2022 16:34

For reference the fit of the size 8 on me is similar to the fit on FiddleFigs in the photo she posted upthread.

Thank you!
Im slimmer up top than down below so hoping it fits.
It looked lovely on @FiddleFigs
However not due until 29/4 Confused

Laska2Meryls the shirt looks lovely on you . I’ve been wearing mine over the shorter pale blue Oxford shirt - the neckline fits well under the heavier shirt/jacket . Just wish it would warm up again , back in my faithful Toast woolly jumpers today .

Snowyowl78 · 30/03/2022 17:17

Oooh new things online!

ScottishMouse · 30/03/2022 17:37

Love those new ikat trousers, but they look like they wouldn’t roll up well and I am short. Probably a good thing given the price.
I also like the ikat jacket, I saw it in the recent catalog but hadn’t realised it would be like a robe. I was hoping for a short jacket like the Kantha ones. Again, just as well probably!

Snowyowl78 · 30/03/2022 17:44

it looks a lot like a dressing gown

Laska2Meryls · 30/03/2022 17:47

I love the ikat trousers, but luckily have the cream Dobby trousers from a couple of summers ago, which are pretty like ( not so tapered) So not tempted. I do love the orange linen tank though.. ( and the trousers she is wearing with them...which I think are new but not up yet...I dont think that they are the cinnamon Alix) .
Some lovely nightwear ...the red pj trousers are nice .

Yes! I have been wearing the winter sale apple cable jumper most of today.. A couple of days ago, I was gardening in jeans and a summer T shirt...

Turned out the Mayfair shop was closed today because they're preparing for the sample sale. So that was slightly inconvenient, but means I can let you know the sale prep looked great through the window. Lots of stuff. Would've loved to have got in there!

So walked up to the Marylebone one, which was nice, but not all that much stock. I'd have liked to try on lots more of the current offerings.

The dresses I did try were too vastly big in L, except at the bust. I'm a generous 18, usually buy XL. Some crazy sizing going on at the moment.

RazorToast · 30/03/2022 23:32

Hi Tosstastic... Exactly same scenario here, 2 parcels returned last Thursday and received notification of only one. However, informed of the other one yesterday I think and money has already been refunded to my account. So hopefully yours will be the same.

Countmeout · 31/03/2022 08:40

That shirt/jacket looks fabulous over the Oxford shirt @Laska2Meryls.

Weather has put everything on hold here too. Back into jumpers.

I like one of the new nightdresses and the orange linen top.

What is it with returns at the moment? They seem to go through phases like this. It’s most annoying.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 31/03/2022 11:18

Returns always seem to be a shambles after sales - I suppose because folks do massive orders (multiple sizes??) and then returns heaps.

TosstTastic · 31/03/2022 15:42

I am a bit disappointed with them about the returns.
It's just clumsy, two parcels arrive at their premises on the same day. One gets processed.
Asked to review items, leave up beat positives because someone is going to really suit it all.
Receive multiple marketing emails, one a day about makers, new stock, etc.
Check Post Office delivery, alert Toast, get standard we'll get back to you.
Get asked to provide postage receipt, do that, it's a hassle.
Get standard 'ten working days' then we'll look at it.

I'm afraid Cos and Anthropologie are beating them hands down at speed, efficiency, brand voice.
The friendly 'we're all part of a niche club' marketing emails don't work with the cold, bland recieved on the 27th, ten working days' means the 10th April.

Yes, while we hold on to your money.
neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2022 15:49

Also NO communication with customer services.
I emailed about the back to front pockets in a pair of trousers including pictures. I received NO Reply.
I just sent them back in the standard way. Just could not be bothered with any hassle.

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2022 15:49

Its incredibly poor.

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2022 16:04

The CS on trust plot are AWFUL!

neveradullmoment99 · 31/03/2022 16:05

Looks like nothing much has changed since their change over.

Those reviews! 😱 Seems if you have any issues they ignore you. Not good enough. Customer service is a basic requirement, at any price but at toast prices it should be extra good. My dress due 29/4 has been dispatched Confused, if its not right I will return to a shop. The emails that relate to those who make for toast are fine but half the time I have no clue what they are on about! The idea they are deliberately delaying refunds is appalling and worrying in equal measure.
Tootyfilou · 31/03/2022 20:21

Just a quick question to you lovely Toasties. have any of you ever worn their pyjamas as outerwear? On the website they have a pair worn with a lovely boxy cardigan over the top, it looks great. Not sure if I could get away with it though...

Snowyowl78 · 31/03/2022 20:46

@Tootyfilou I have plans to wear some pyjama bottoms that I bought in the winter sale as summer trousers when it’s properly hot! They are the Field Cotton Pyjama Trousers. I think it can definitely work as long as they’re not too pyjamery
