@Saurus72 ah thanks must have missed it! Looks massive! Was it also quite long? Looks it in the pics.

Saurus72 · 29/03/2022 14:28

The length was ok, it was probably the angle of the photo! I’d say a few inches below the knee (I’m about 5ft6). Frustrating because the fabric is good and price is decent.

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/03/2022 14:59

@Snowyowl78, I think someone tried the grey one on upthread and said that even the small was absolutely enormous.

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/03/2022 15:00

Ah, see it was @Saurus72 and she has updated with feedback.

Snowyowl78 · 29/03/2022 15:51

Thanks both! I wonder if it could work with a fabric belt….

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/03/2022 16:04

For those of us discussing the JL Kin Jaquard Drop Waist Dress in black upthread, the 10 and 12 arrived today. The 10 is too small but the 12 fits (i am high street 12) so definitely no need to size down. The waist is dropped but on an angle so at the back it cuts across the lower part of my bottom. It does fit but I am undecided on whether to keep it or not. The dropped waist does flare out in quite a nice way.

In the same order I tried the size 10 Oversized Pinstripe shirt which is going back as the collar is too small and the body of the shirt doesn't hang quite right. I possibly needed a 12. I am also sending back the Kin Jacquard Ruffle top in white - the 10 is plenty big enough but I am not sure about it.

The asymetry is one of the reasons I cant get on with Kin. Fabric is another. I cant bear anything that sits oddly and it would drive me slightly mad. Pondering whether I should have tried the seersucker dress in an 8 now but hey ho its out of stock anyway.

This is finally in stock. I'm tempted... although so COLD today that wearing a summer dress seems a distant prospect atm.

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/03/2022 20:27

@TempleofZoom, I am sending them both back as I already have enough nice black dresses and don't need another one that I am not even sure about.

@NoCureForLove, that is one lovely dress. If it is anything like the cut of the cotton linen shirt dress (and the cut does look the same) then I am between a 10 and a 12.

lordloveadog · 29/03/2022 22:11

Thanks for shop advice! Will try to get to one of them tomorrow

TosstTastic · 30/03/2022 07:52

Bastard Toast returns.....

Sent two parcels back last week, same time, same post office.

One has gone through the system perfectly, email to say refunded Monday, nothing yet about the other parcel.

How soon do I chase this and do I ever risk shopping here again. Will it all end up happy ever after except with some admin time.

ScottishMouse · 30/03/2022 08:03

@TosstTastic, I had this very thing happen recently. I tried contacting them a couple of times but they would do nothing until 10 working days after posting had passed. I then had to provide proof of postage and they refunded me. Fingers crossed you get it sorted, it’s very annoying.

TosstTastic · 30/03/2022 09:04

Thank you @ScottishMouse, you've got back to me quicker than customer services!
The Post Office have certainly delivered it.
But it must make their inventory a nightmare. No wonder stuff goes in and out of stock randomly. if it's stuck lost in a warehouse whilst people are fired up by the marketing pictures that's a missed sale.....surely it's long past the kitchen table sorting stage.

This is why I often either tried things on in JL or ordered from their website. I cant cope with returns stress and chasing things up. Well Im not ordering things Im not sure about so sales lost there Toast. Hardly any stock, autumnal colours and poor returns process is not great , at all.
TerrierOrTerror · 30/03/2022 13:44

I did have a good experience of their customer service with my return issue, where they only processed half of the returns despite it being ONE order, ONE return form and ONE parcel. I had a resolution in writing within 24 hours, although I'm yet to see the refund (I have found them very slow to process those!).

As a new to Toast shopper it's not giving me faith though.

Laska2Meryls · 30/03/2022 14:56

Here is the blue fine striped shirt (over my Oxford shirt .. sorry about the leggings ).
Really pleased with it.. it looks better worn as a jacket though as its quite boxy..

I really hope that they are not going back to the bad days of returns..

@Laska2Meryls oh I like that! What’s it like on sizing?

Laska2Meryls · 30/03/2022 15:29

It comes up quite big, that's a 12. Id usually take a 14 in non-Toast

Snowyowl78 · 30/03/2022 15:36

Thanks! It looks great

Saurus72 · 30/03/2022 15:44

@Laska2Meryls that looks really lovely!

faustina · 30/03/2022 15:45

@Laska2Meryls - mine arrived today. It was nice, but I didn't think it was quite thick enough to be a jacket - and it didn't look as good on me as it does on you - so back it went! It was a lovely shade of blue

faustina · 30/03/2022 15:46

Mine was a 10 and I didn't actually think it was all that big!

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 30/03/2022 16:02

I went to the Toast shop in Marlow today to try on the Seersucker check cotton dress in a size 8 (as it isn't available in that size online currently). I absolutely loved it - much nicer in real life and hangs beautifully. The two ladies in the shop were also really lovely - very welcoming and friendly, but not pushy. It was such a nice shopping experience that it makes me want to buy more from "real" shops rather than always defaulting to online to save time.
