I can't remember who it was who warned me off the cotton twill darted trousers in rubber? Well you were right - absolutely massive! Hugely misleading photo of the model wearing them. They've gone straight back again

does anyone have the cotton twill tapered trousers in fresh olive?

Countmeout · 21/03/2022 17:12

It was me @faustina. Very big and long too. I was disappointed by the photo looking so different too.

TosstTastic · 21/03/2022 17:41

Does the size gizmo work in any meaningful way?
The sizing has always been erratic but they are now a huge company and from their Toast by Post roots always about mail order rather than bricks and mortar. How can they still be getting it so wrong, it must cost them an admin fortune.

dudsville · 21/03/2022 17:55

My things arrived today but I haven't had a chance to try them on. I could tell immediately though that the long white blouse will be going back, and like you guys also immediately knew the cotton twill dart trousers will be going back. I'm looking forward to trying on the two pairs of cords, and corduroy trousers are much more "me" anyway. The ginger pair is so similar to another, also ginger, pair I have. But it is my absolute most worn toast item so if these fit I'll be keeping them. First thing I did though was check the waist band again other existing pairs! Thankfully they measure up equally.

I love lose baggy things but the blouse was too big (and I'd sized down). The blouses from COS all went back too, comically oversized. Love my two arket jumpers but then they discounted one so I'm currently navigating that return/repurchase!

dudsville · 21/03/2022 17:57

And re the misleading models @faustina, I often look at them and wonder what the hell size they're wearing or whether they've sneakily pinned back the fabric, but why would they?!

Gonegrey31 · 21/03/2022 18:08

Faustina I have this season’s Gabi pull on trousers in colour Loden which I’m really pleased with. Very versatile colour . True to my usual size too . Maybe worth considering?

faustina · 21/03/2022 19:25

Even the colour of them was really different! It's much more like the red ochre of the new Alixes

@Gonegrey31 - thank you for the suggestion. I did actually order those a few weeks ago, but returned because I'm really looking for something a bit lighter in colour, also I already have a pair of trousers in a very similar colour from Margaret Howell. I've been wearing my jute Gabi trousers on a loop at the moment - they're so brilliant for this time of year! If the loden were just a bit paler I would definitely have kept them

faustina · 21/03/2022 19:26

it doesn't make any sense at all!
Countmeout · 21/03/2022 20:05

I think the models are wearing a very small size that has maybe been additionally tailored for those trousers were way wider than the picture and that was even in an 8 which I sized down to as per reviews.

Noodle421 · 21/03/2022 21:58

Thank you. It looks very similar. I will check it out

AFingerofFudge · 22/03/2022 10:40

😁ah, it won't ever feel like John Lewis have got rid of Toast if that dress keeps reappearing!

AuldFox · 22/03/2022 10:49

I’ve been avoiding this thread as I now own an entire shop’s worth of toast. But the return of that dress has tickled me out of lurking! Grin

NoCureForLove · 22/03/2022 10:51

It is truly the Undead / Zombie Toast dress. If must gave been sent out and returned 30 times?? Can't help thinking it must need a good wash and / or to be put out of it's misery as unhomeanble

faustina · 22/03/2022 11:00

I saw someone wearing that dress in the Waitrose car park last summer. It looked quite nice!

@ScottishMouse - was thinking of you and your crumpled jacket problem. I would just take it to your local shop and tell them to make it better for you. They do say they have free repairs etc. Maybe it could be steamed or something?

ScottishMouse · 22/03/2022 11:05

That dress again!! 🤣

@faustina, I did ask in the store the other day about the jacket and they just said it was how the fabric is! I mean, yes, but the smaller size did not arrive as creased, so also no. Anyhow, I hung it in the bathroom yesterday while everyone were having showers and filling the room with steam, and that helped a little. I can live with it though. Wore it yesterday, and it was great.

Haha!!! Poor dress should be called The Terminator There were a few nice things on JL early morning. The snowflake jumper, fleur de lys shirt, a jumpsuit. I really like the garment dyed linen sundress and would wear with a tshirt. Think I might order the Cotton/Linen easy sweater in parchment. The navy has been really useful. Otherwise a bit meh about everything. Come on Toast, need a really nice dress !
neveradullmoment99 · 22/03/2022 15:38

I always seem to miss any on JLewis. I agree. The choice on Toast is really not great. Where are all the beautiful prints? The colours are pretty drab tbh as are their styles.

neveradullmoment99 · 22/03/2022 15:38

Wanted the garment dyed linen easy dress in the lovely lime green. Its completely disappeared from the website.

faustina · 22/03/2022 19:17

has anyone tried these trousers?

N9. Nice colour but look a bit droopy?

I have them in green from last year. I wear them with the linen top in the same colour so they look a bit jumpsuit-y. They did stretch out a bit on the bum though.
faustina · 22/03/2022 19:44

Thanks you two - they are a nice colour aren't they
I'm just wondering if it might be worth trying them on - @ilovecherries - could I ask about the sizing? Is it extra extra generous, or just normal toast generous? - oh and also the length - are they turn-up- able?

ilovecherries · 22/03/2022 20:28

I haven’t unpacked my summer clothes yet and oddly for me, can’t find a photo of me posing in them! The fabric is too soft and wide to roll up I think - would just collapse. They sit just above my ankle at 5’7. They do have a very low crotch so they do billow a bit when you sit. I’m a 12 and dithered between S and M. I think I finally settled on M for the waist but I could have gone smaller everywhere else.
