@ScottishMouse - that looks lovely! I'm quite tempted myself now!

Shinyandnew1 · 20/03/2022 13:41

Can I ask for some help from you lovely Toasties on here! I have never bought from Toast before but keep seeing this top pop up on Facebook and really like it

www.toa.st/collections/womens-jersey/products/scoop-neck-stripe-cotton-tee-blue-peat

But…it’s £65 and the only two reviews it has are a bit meh! I’d spend that as a one-off if it washes beautifully and lasts forever!

What are the tops like? Do they wash well? What’s the sizing like? Would M be ok for 14?

Also…is there a way to get a code or free delivery??

Snowyowl78 · 20/03/2022 14:18

@Shinyandnew1 I bought that in a M and it was fine and I am a 14 on top. I sent it back because it had cap sleeves which aren’t too good for me as my arms are a bit fat! If you don’t have arm issues it will be lovely. I liked the colour way. I have loads of Toast tees and they all wash fab.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/03/2022 14:28

@Snowyowl78

Looks like it’s old from 2020, it’s one of the PJ shirts.
I wondered where I had seen the print. I do remember loving that shirt. That jacket looks fab on you @ScottishMouse
TerrierOrTerror · 20/03/2022 15:29

@Shinyandnew1 I bought a long sleeved stripy top a few months ago. It's probably the most expensive casual top I own but I love it. It has washed well, kept its shape and it's softness and just fits nicely. It looks like it cost a lot more than my usual basics if that makes sense. It's been worn at least one (more likely twice and occasionally thrice) a week since I bought it. If none of my sale items work I will be buying more basic tops instead (otherwise I have hit my shopping budget for this third of the year).

That’s really useful to know, thank you! I am a 14 but with quite big boobs (sometimes buy a 16) so am wondering if a Large might be better!

Is there ever a code for free delivery??

That’s really reassuring to read-thank you for taking the time to reply.

ScottishMouse · 20/03/2022 20:16

Thanks for the jacket love folks. I’m so glad I decided to try on the bigger size a second time. I think the fact I tried it on over my pyjamas the first time didn’t help! My only issue is that the one I’m keeping came quite creased (what’s new Toast?!), but of course the waxes cotton can’t be ironed. Does anyone have any tips for getting the creases out?

Noodle421 · 20/03/2022 21:58

Hi all, I love this thread. I’m a long running Toast fan. Has anyone bought the cotton linen pinafore dress in slate? I’m tempted but it’s £££. I’ve seen it on a couple of Toast staff both on its own with a T shirt and layered with a boxy jumper and it looked fab. Can anyone give any feedback about this dress and whether it’s worth the £.

Stoic123 · 20/03/2022 23:55

@Noodle421- I bought it last May and have worn it a lot. I wear it with striped tees, shirts and jumpers - all days except hottest summer days and coldest winter days. Very comfortable/easy to throw on. Cost-per-wear has ended up really low.

Colour does seem to have faded a little since I bought it (maybe another Toastie can corroborate?). Regardless, very happy with the purchase.

mizu · 21/03/2022 07:21

No tips for the creases Scottishmouse, but the coat looks lovely Star

Noodle421 · 21/03/2022 08:08

Thank you for the feedback. I guess it’s bound to fade a little over time. It’s been around for a number of months so I’m guessing it’s a reasonably popular choice for Toast to keep stocking it. I might just take the plunge !

Countmeout · 21/03/2022 09:03

That skirt is a fabulous bargain @Laska2Meryls.
I think the jacket is definitely a keeper @ScottishMouse. It looks a great fit.I have a raincoat and I just hang it if creased , but I’m not too adverse to a crease if it doesn’t come out.
Well nothing has been added to the sale and I’ve bought nothing from it. Not entirely polishing my halo as I’ve spent on eBay instead.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/03/2022 11:05

@Noodle421 They have these coming in mid march. You could possibly get one to wear with a tee under it. Its much cheaper!

neveradullmoment99 · 21/03/2022 11:06

Slightly different fit with gathers at the back and longer but really lovely too. Looks generous though.
Only on the website if you put 'dresses' in the search bar.

TosstTastic · 21/03/2022 11:15

Just had a notification that the swingy indigo jacket is out of stock, refund on its way.

Pleased because even in the sale it was a lot for a little jacket, but disappointed because I'd syked myself up to try a different style. Pre menopause, I was an hourglass so a jacket like that would have added stones, now in a new era.

Years ago the Toast warehouse and website were terrible for keeping pace, am I likely to get a whole succession of cancellations in 2022?

Order arrived and most things are a flop. The only item I love is the fingerless gloves.

Jumper is just not special enough for the price, mainly the shade of beige is just a smidge too dark for what I want. Cord trousers in Earth are huge (far bigger than the Gabis I tried previously). I like the colour and the fit on the waist/hips/bum/thigh but really need them much more tapered in at the ankle, the shape just isn't flattering on me. A shame though as they have real potential.

I also ordered a cord shirt in a very dark navy-ish colour. A bit of an odd fit so I need to try it on with a few different things. Possibly a keeper, I think I'd have preferred a lighter colour (didn't want the green though as I have a lot of green clothes).

My main issue is the whole order smells musty. Seriously not impressed that I would need to wash the items before wearing.

Musty! Oh dear. Not good enough! Pity about your order. I quite like the shape of the cord shirt in this seasons pale blue cotton. Im not great with cord as I get way too hot these days!

Very disappointing though. Looks a very cute jacket but yes, its pricey.
neveradullmoment99 · 21/03/2022 13:47

Well think something is happening with Toast quality control. First a few dresses that have had loose threads. The orange cord one for example. The worst one was the denim dress [shirt one] Had the feeling someone had worn it. Had a kind of perfume to it. It also had loose threads.I kept it as it was oos and is fine and have worn it loads.
The absolute worst was the piccolo check linen trousers. Pockets sewn back to front. Emailed customer services and ZERO response so just returned. Absolutely shocking for premium prices. REALLY puts me off.

agnesmartin · 21/03/2022 13:58

Haven't posted in ages but just wanted to pop in to say thank you so much for the chat about the grey alpaca cardie. Bought it in the sale and it hangs well (even with big boobage) is lovely and warm and gorgeously soft! I may never take it off. Smile

neveradullmoment99 · 21/03/2022 14:01

Just had a look. Looks like the sale is over now.

ScottishMouse · 21/03/2022 14:16

That’s terrible @neveradullmoment99. Their customer service generally has been pretty poor the last while. I recently received a pair of trousers in a completely different size to what I ordered. I got on the chat and they just told me to email customer service. They eventually replied days later with a very curt apology and told me to return them in the usual way. No offer to send a replacement or anything. Not great. Especially, as you say, for the prices they are charging.

TerrierOrTerror · 21/03/2022 14:32

Although a better report, I also today received a Toast dress I bought on Vinted. Excellent condition, fits really well, ideal for what I want (light weight dress for the office, not too tight fitting)...and it's dry clean only. Now to weight up whether I risk washing it myself or give in and pay...

Gonegrey31 · 21/03/2022 15:48

I have today received (and returned) the Pintuck Chambray dress. It is a truly beautiful colour, more of a hyacinth blue than other Toast items described as Chambray blue. But the style is so voluminous - I sized down and it still swamped me. Lovely pin tucks on the back and a quality dress (which perhaps explains the price) but on me - a shortie - it looked absurd, and resembled a maternity dress.
