Before you all say don’t be ridiculous, you’ll look like the bride- there is no bride- it’s a gay wedding. I love this. lOVE it. Could get the floral one but of COURSE I want the cream one. Can I???????

ElleGB - completely agree - if the groom is happy for his Mum to wear this that’s 100% the most important thing - and renders all mumsnetters opinions somewhat irrelevant- however the poster did ASK for feedback prior to showing her son, which was duly given. There are ( as we have seen on here from other suggestions) a plethora of gorgeous, dramatic, fantastic and glamorous non mumsy/ traditional outfits out there - so IMO a bridal style dress is unnecessary and inappropriate- that’s my opinion which will not be the same as others. If the poster and the wedding couple love it that’s great, and that’s what matters in the end.

Oh @MangosteenSoda... I know it's a huge number of pages now, but at least read the original post!

I did Grin

I have also very much enjoyed reading the full thread and hope the OP has a wonderful day at her son’s wedding.

(Suggest you reread my post).

Theblacksheepandme · 12/02/2022 13:05

MangosteenSoda

Your DIL wil be absolutely livid when she sees that dress.

If you ABSOLUTELY must, check with your son first and order the floral one, NOT the ivory one.

Then cancel the cheque

Can’t wait to see the pics.

You definitely did not read the full thread. It is a gay wedding so no DIL.

harriethoyle · 12/02/2022 13:10

@Theblacksheepandme that's the point of @MangosteenSoda post. She's taking the piss 🙄

Kenworthington · 12/02/2022 13:11

I think it was tongue in cheek @Theblacksheepandme 🤣

Sorry MangosteenSoda I think I should go and take my chill pill now. Kenworthington Ahh yeah I jump to your defense and you laugh at meGrin.

MangosteenSoda · 12/02/2022 13:34

@Theblacksheepandme no worries.

Tbf, I’m not very good at trying to be funny Grin

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 12/02/2022 13:35

I keep coming back to check this post with the hopes that the dress has arrived and OP has posted pics.

I feel like her positive attitude and outlook would let her rock pretty much anything regardless of what others think.

Onthedunes · 12/02/2022 13:37

Rather than the concerned posters worrying that op will 'outshine' the marrying couple ...

Their apparent empathy for the groom could be seen as a past reflection on how they behaved during their own wedding.

That they were self absorbed Bridezillas that controlled every aspect of their own day and the the apparent suppression of the guests own individuality to fit with their narrative on the day.

Look at me I'm a princess and everyone else is just a dowdy backdrop.

Enjoy the day op, congratuations and felicitatations to the happy couple may their union be joyous and lasting.

The dress is beautiful.

Kenworthington · 12/02/2022 13:39

Thank you all/most. Frock has not yet arrived but when it does I will be sure to show you. Unless I look hideous and send it back in which case I prob won’t 🤣

Just have to comment before the thread fills up. OP I sooooo wish I had the nerve to wear the dress in any colour (personal faves are red and coral). In my mind it's the best dress in the dressing up box from when we were kids. The one you want to parade around in and TWIRL. So glad you got it and really really want to come to the wedding as I expect it will be legendary! Please start a new thread to show pics. There's no chance there will be space left on this one.

blackdumpling · 12/02/2022 14:12

It might be two men getting married
But if anyone see photos of the day it will look like a bride & groom
Do you really want to be mistaken for your son's new wife?

I’m quite certain, in fact I would go so far as to say I would put my house on it, that anyone at the wedding or viewing the photos will not mistake the OP as the sons wife.

Did you hear how that sentence sounded in your head before you typed it?

I remember one time reading that when we're little girls, we dance around in our dresses admiring ourselves. That is until one little fucker tells you otherwise. That one bad moment changes our thought processes. I still wish I was that little girl. See I am the one that conformed but I would never try to change other people. I just envy them. OP, do some twirling around in that dress for the people that would like to be like you.

#prayforcolin

I like Colin the small elephant sized cat.

Kenworthington · 12/02/2022 15:15

You look AMAZING!! Do you love it?!

God I’m jealous of how young you look.

MangosteenSoda · 12/02/2022 15:23

Fabulous!

Will you change the size or is it workable? Looks good from the front at least Smile

Kenworthington · 12/02/2022 15:23

Thank YoU @ElleGB I DO love it but there’s no give in it AT ALL. For some reason I thought it might be a bit stretchy. It’s really not and it’s not even close to doing up 😬😬😩😩😩😩 it’s like I’ve tried to get into a size 10 FUCKSAKE. So I’m going to have to try and exchange for a bigger size and if that doesn’t fit then it’s bye bye beautiful frock 😩

NoneOfYour32Potatoes · 12/02/2022 15:24
