Before you all say don’t be ridiculous, you’ll look like the bride- there is no bride- it’s a gay wedding. I love this. lOVE it. Could get the floral one but of COURSE I want the cream one. Can I???????

@Kenworthington

Fuck this. This is outing but I care NOT. This is what I look like on the daily. THIS is why I am NEVER wearing a bloody two piece MoTG outfit and a sodding fascinator. Some of you get it (and I love you), the ones that don’t- well I guess we are just not each other’s ‘people’. That’s ok. I don’t mind people not liking my ‘look’, I am quite marmite and also you can’t like everyone but I think some of the comments actually ARE really rude. If it’s not something you would say to someone’s face, you prob shouldn’t type it. I did want opinions. True. I didn’t expect it to go quite so crazy. The most annoying thing has been people not actually reading the posts. Cancel the Cheque! Anyway here is a photo of me in a field being happy in my ridiculous clothes (that I love) . Whatever. You do you and I’ll do me as they say
You have a lovely smile wear the dress with pride but sew in a hankie pocket
cunningartificer · 11/02/2022 20:34

OP I've just read the full thread and can't believe all the mad replies. You're going to look fabulous and your son's wedding will be a blast because he has such an amazing mother. For what it's worth, I think your chosen dress is gorgeous. Who are these sad people trying to dress you sensibly for a day at the office? I hope you have an amazing day and wish I could see you, I bet it's the best party!

ShowOfHands · 11/02/2022 20:35

Aah op you're fab. My mate is getting married this year. I'm wearing a frock coat and a top hat for starters.

Here's to being in a field, wearing colour and feeling flamboyantly happy in your clothes.

Kenworthington · 11/02/2022 20:36

@ShowOfHands I bloody LOVE a top hat. I do have one actually ! Maybe we should be pals

@Clarefromwork

I’m glad your have ordered the dress you love, the only people who it would matter if it was too much would be your son and partner - so you are good to go!

But now the shoes - have you checked out irregular choice, I love theirs - you can even get light up ones !

Irregular choice great but been mother of the groom twice gonna wear trainers next time 🤣🤣🤣
SleepingStandingUp · 11/02/2022 20:37

@Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase

It’s way to bridal. If I was a guest at the wedding I would think you chose that dress to piss off the bride
Dear God this has to be sarcasm by now right? People can't still be this inept at comprehension??

Hear, hear!
MrsLighthouse · 11/02/2022 20:40

No. Just no. You aren’t the centre of attention ….it’s far too much .

Sickoffamilydrama · 11/02/2022 20:42

You have to wear it now just to piss all the nasty posters off.

Come join us on the what you wearing today thread we appreciate all styles.

LadyMaid · 11/02/2022 20:43

It reminds me of Big bird from sesame Street.

BungleandGeorge · 11/02/2022 20:43

I really like the floral one and think it’s good for mother of the groom. Not totally sure what it will look like on but at that price it’s probably cut well so will look good

oopsyu · 11/02/2022 20:45

I love needle and thread dresses!! I'm sure my friend has the floral pattern on a different style dress.

For those who can't be bothered to read the thread there is no bride!!

Sittingonthedockofthebay · 11/02/2022 20:46

Sorry, it's a lovely dress but it will look like you're pining for a bride. Find another occasion to justify it and don't risk upstaging them

Pbjontoast · 11/02/2022 20:46

Ah OP, just read the whole thread skipping most of the replies from PPs half way through, got bored of the repetition and I have to thank you..Your replies have really cheered me up. I've had a crappy week and your charm and personality have shone through on this thread and made me titter Grin

Looking at your pic you'll look fab in that dress, from the impression I'm getting of you it'll suit your personality.

Happy wedded bliss to your son/SIL/fake DIL.. enjoy the happy day Grin

You didn't read what the groom's are doing then. Arriving and departing on the elephants I'm somewhat concerned about them being startled by the fireworks although they've been assured African elephants are well used to them. The leopards on gold plated leads carrying the wedding rings will be impressive
YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 11/02/2022 20:47

You rock OP!
I wish I had your chutzpah too!

DoubleTweenQueen · 11/02/2022 20:48

More evening party in the red or black?

SleepingStandingUp · 11/02/2022 20:50

What's this thread has shown me is that I'm too poor (and fat) for the fashion I aspire to

Peaplant20 · 11/02/2022 20:50

Get it in the pale blue or red! Cream too bridal x

SquarePeggyLeggy · 11/02/2022 20:50

I still don’t think you should look like a bride even if there isn’t one. I don’t think it’s for the guests to be the most noticeable. I’m an old fashioned prude maybe, but for what it’s worth, I’ve been married for 15 years and still remember my sister in law wore a white dress to my wedding, and more than one person mentioned it on the day itself. Whilst it didn’t upset me, I did notice and everyone noticed and it was in a negative way. One guest wore jeans too.

Puffalicious · 11/02/2022 20:50

Wear what you like OP (just not the ivory!) . You will look fabulous if YOU love it.

PS You so do not look in the least fat in your photo. Rock it!

ShowOfHands · 11/02/2022 20:50

Happy to be mates. You have everything I like in a comrade: cool clothes; reading and comprehension skills Wink

Got a decent photographer for the day? Can you request a photo of you in the foreground looking great and the new husbands slumped despondently, in an inevitable pile of abject, upstaged misery?

CanYouHearMeGroundControl · 11/02/2022 20:50

Ask your son! If he says yes then you can wear it!

cocktailclub · 11/02/2022 20:51

No. Just no.

Dress is amazing but find another occasion

Pbjontoast · 11/02/2022 20:52

@CanYouHearMeGroundControl

Ask your son! If he says yes then you can wear it!
She has asked her son!

He said yes!

She can wear it!

She's gonna wear it!
