As I need inspiration to look after myself more but I hardly know where to begin other than I need to lose weight!

Hoping to get ideas from others as I'm not really into fashion and beauty and hoping to change this (within budget of course!)

Result !Found an anti cellulite decent sized Clarins sample in my gym bag- haven't showered at the gym since the pandemic as just came home instead - so am now sitting with a pleasantly mentholated bottom and thighs. Also did my skin brushing and have blow dried hair properly. Onwards and upwards.

UnoriginalPenguin · 01/01/2022 18:20

Not a bad start for me today: put my contact lenses in for the first time in ages, planned my outfit before putting it on so stuff actually matched , and err, resisted the temptation to poke at a spot!

shewhomustbeEbayed · 01/01/2022 18:38

I’ve used my new Babyliss big hair ( dual heads ) only used the larger head but it seemed to cling more when styling than my old one.
I’ve reduced my portion size for evening meal, breakfast is poached eggs on Vogels bread and lunch is 4 Ryvitas, this has helped me to lose weight in the past.
Have booked weekly morning hydro sessions for my OA knees.
Did a big clothing clearout this afternoon, really dramatic how the right colour, style and size can make your whole figure look better. I’m a Summer, size 18 and busty but well fitting navy blue v neck jumpers or zip up cardigans are really flattering.
Good luck everyone !

Booksandwine80 · 01/01/2022 20:25

This is the thread I’ve been waiting for Grin
Long hot soak in the bath once a week
Nails done monthly
Eating a more plant based diet
Dry January

AnotherMansCause · 01/01/2022 20:39

I have decided to add another one. I am going to start putting foot cream on, and fluffy socks, to improve my feet. Probably not every night, but at least a few times a week. I already started putting hand cream & lip balm on just before I lay down to sleep, it seems to be helping, I had horrendous dry lips since I had covid a little while ago, they're still drier than usual but no longer cracked & peeling.

LoocMy · 01/01/2022 21:11

Can I join? Inexperienced but in much need of a spring overhaul.
I will do daily 8K steps, get Omega supplements, eat more fibre, drink more water, start a gratitude journal or similar as being miserable shows on my face, actively try to do one mindful good deed a day and one mindful self care 'thing'.

I believe reducing stress will impact my inner princess feeling (ha!) so I will massively reduce my use of WhatsApp groups, I''m already on a reduce SM diet.

I recommend treating yourself to the schol electric foot file! After a nice bath I use it twice a week and then put on a foot cream and fluffy socks! Really transformed my feet!!
TwinkleToesStrikesAgain · 01/01/2022 21:50

I've had 1.5 litres of water, three small meals and done a c25k run. I haven't applied hand cream enough but I have applied it a bit. I've ordered some eye creams but they haven't arrived yet - I need to finish up my current tube first! Tomorrow I'll find th vitamins I've ordered, received and misplaced ...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2022 22:01

I noticed this morning I could feel a chin hair daring to break the surface , got the ole' Tweezernans out ..........

It was white I had a white chin hair .
Part of me thought "Ah they'll be less visible"
Other part thought "Hell in a Handcart , it's started . I have grey hair , grey armpit hair is creeping in, the odd grey eyebrow hair . Now grey chin hair "

ReginaaPhalange · 01/01/2022 22:05

@70isaLimitNotaTarget are tweezerman worth it?? I'm contemplating treating myself (last indulgent purchase before this labour is induced tomorrow)....

TabithaTittlemouse · 01/01/2022 22:07

I’m not off to a great start because I’ve been a couch potato today but I’ve had my vitamins, cleansed using my Emma hardie cleansing balm, used the alpha h rose gold stuff and Philip Kingsley elasticiser. I’ve done a short yoga session and am having a sleep tea before bed.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2022 22:59

Regina yes , the Holy Grail of Tweezers IMHO

I have the slanted ones , DD has the pointed ones ( which are better for awkward hairs and I need to buy myself a pair )

Good Luck with your induction tomorrow (my DD was induced -she's 19 now ) it took a-g-e-s then she suddenly galvanised herself after nearly 24 hours and flew into the world Grin

I bought new tweezers for DS otherwise he'll borrow/lose mine but could only get Champney ones in Boots .

ReginaaPhalange · 01/01/2022 23:04

@70isaLimitNotaTarget thank you :) currently
Deciding between slanted or pointed now haha!! X

A late joiner but I’m in too if I may.

Looking at the positives, I have some good routines in place: 1. while I have the disadvantage of ageing skins (thanks Dad) I am very disciplined about my skincare routine 2. started getting Botox in 2021 (love the subtle effect) 3. do my own nails every week 4. hair cut and colour every 7 weeks

I’ve had my brows micro-bladed and topped up, they are fine but don’t love them.

For 2022, I have a very definite list and a couple of possibilities:

  • Start drinking water (like others, I don’t drink any)
  • A walk every day in January
  • Twice weekly PT sessions in January
  • Begin a 10 mth plan to sort my teeth (had to have a tooth pulled in 2021!)
  • Botox every 4 mths (11s, crows feet and forehead)
  • Start using the Lumea I bought 2 years ago that has never been switched on
  • 60 day target for NuFace every night to kick off the year

Possibilities:

  • Fasting, in reality I need to lose 14!lbs over the year. Sugar is the problem and is evident when I look at my skin
  • Do a monthly hike (10km +) with friends
AnotherMansCause · 02/01/2022 00:02

@ReginaaPhalange yes, tweezerman are definitely worth the money. I regularly see them in TK Maxx, & got mine there, this one and this one and I managed to fit a pair of the mini tweezers into the plastic case as well. The leather case lives on my shelf at home, the plastic one stays in my bag for going out, it's been very useful for hangnails, broken nails, splinters etc on numerous days out etc, I've had both for several years.

AnotherMansCause · 02/01/2022 00:03

@ReginaaPhalange you want pointed for splinters, slanted for hair removal.

AlDanvers · 02/01/2022 05:14

I love tweezerman. Would definitely recommend.

So I haven't slept. Grieving is a bitch. But I have taken the opportunity to do some pampering.

I used the Suzanne Kaufman enzyme peel that I got in the feel unique calandar and the a thick layer of Sunday Reilly Juno oil on.

Put some olaplex 3 and sat playing fortnite (another frivolous things that's helping distract my mind) then I will get a shower and put some make up on.

The SK peel is lovely. May consider getting a full size, but will try it a couple more time before I do.

CaptainMal · 02/01/2022 09:06

@Methenyouplus4 from my list, the Cerave wash and Avene are more reasonably priced. I understand that it is worth saving your money for the retinoids and vit C serums but someone who is better versed in skincare might be able to offer more clarity!

Am doing ok on the princessing/goddessing front. Another 15k steps yesterday and also 30 mins pilates - my back feels so much better when I do this. On holiday and cooking in our airbnb, but am also trying to go for healthy options when eating out!

SarahJessicaParker1 · 02/01/2022 09:07

@ReginaaPhalange, how are you?! Is it induction day today? Good luck!!!! FlowersCake

ReginaaPhalange · 02/01/2022 09:10

@AnotherMansCause thank you! I'll be ordering the slanted ones :)

@SarahJessicaParker1 planned for lunchtime, but already been said it's all depending on numbers in ward etc and a girl was admitted last night and yet to be induced etc so can see that as a sign it's delayed lol! Tempted to ask if it's delayed if I can go home for a bath 🤣🤣🤣

SarahJessicaParker1 · 02/01/2022 09:11

Ah bless you regina! Waiting is the worst! Really hope it goes ahead for you at lunchtime Flowers

ReginaaPhalange · 02/01/2022 09:15

Tweezers ordered! Amazon deal for £14 for the lilac ones!!

@SarahJessicaParker1 I hope it can be started today as a bit bored. Would be so happy if I could go for a bath and come back if it's delayed as the shower here and my small travel body lotions don't feel as luxurious as the full size bottles at home lol!!

Wond3rment · 02/01/2022 09:47

My new hiking boots will be delivered week, my old ones are leaking so I am looking forward to dry feet hiking.

I’m going for a walk soon, I’ll listen to my first podcast on fasting. Let the fun begin

Katyppp · 02/01/2022 11:40

I have drastically cleared out my wardrobe as I am having a go at project 333.
I have now 10 items hanging up. Including two scarves and a handbag.
I have lots of new sales purchases ready to be assessed but I am still waiting for more deliveries before I decide what to keep.
It is focusing my mind on what to keep and I LOVE the structure of rejecting large swathes of clothing websites as they clothes are the wrong colour for me.
