General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread

As last year, I suggest we use this as a general beauty advent calendar thread for everyone with beauty calendars that may not be covered by other threads or who prefers a general thread. I’m opening FM, Harrods and M&S this year, and will aim to post on both this and the M&S threads.

Please can no-one post any spoilers before 7am on the relevant day.

Just over a week to go. I’m really looking forward to it!

Festive nail varnish, a big packet of watermelon and pina colada jellies from degustabox and caramel popcorn. Really enjoying my mornings - even if the weather isn't playing its part..... May have to open the sweeties

@AprilLady Have you tried the Eyeko mascara? It’s actually really good!

I returned the Lumene calendar as it just seemed so small with tiny products. I have a couple of others too so most products were a repeat of what I already had.

JL seems very good this year. I regret not getting it.

Space NK today is a Barbara Sturm hyaluronic serum 10ml.

It's a 'tubing' mascara with polymers that wrap around the lashes so it doesn't smudge which is why I like it for evenings out

Very nice nail varnish from M&S, it will go in D1's stocking. D2 also got red nail varnish in her BarryM cal, yesterday's was a clear top coat.

From the White Company....full size Winter candle, tuberose and cashmere shower gel and lotion and. Among and something hand cream. The tuberose is gorgeous!

@NotMyCat - good to know. I'm still going through last year's eye creams so it will be a while before I get to it.

Does anyone know if there's a swap thread as @ChewyNougat mentioned below?

Little candle imperial rose form rituals today. I like it, it's not my favorite scent but we will use it today

New brand to me in cult beauty - Farmacy green clean makeup remover. Great size 50ml, looking forward trying it!

I've got Lumene as I wanted to try the brand and I agree the products are all pretty small so far.

It will be a great way to sample the range, but I'm mid way through a lot of products so not actually getting stuck in yet. D'oh!

I like the scent of the Rituals candle but I think I might keep it and pop in DDs or DMs stocking. I hope there is another one so I can give one to them both.

First aid beauty KP bump erasing body scrub in Feelunique, sounds interesting so looking forward to giving it a go.

I had it burning in the living room for hour this morning and I have to say, I like it a lot more then I thought I would. It's lovely

Room spray FM. First drawer of disappointment for me. Unlikely to use a room spray. Will gift to DD who probably will.

NIOD Hyaluronic serum Harrods. Will be interesting to try this and see how it differs from a normal HA

PK Elasticiser M&S 2021 I do use this, so happy enough with it. Not exciting though.

Shay and Blue Black Tulip perfume M&S 2018. Very nice. First point to 2018 calendar I think!

Philip Kingsley elasticised from M&S and a Ren body serum in a really decent size (200ml).

I like the idea of the elasticiser but it's a bit of a commitment wetting hair and putting it on for 20 minutes before my shower.

The body serum sounds interesting. I was initially wondering was I supposed to put a body cream on top as face serums go under moisturiser but it seems not. It's just a fancy name for a body cream. Looking forward to trying it.

@AprilLady - so 2018 is back in the game.

JL is Clinique Moisture Surge 100H moisturiser 15ml. I’m always happy with a hydrating moisturiser at this time of year and will start using it after I’ve finished the AB rich cream.

ASOS is a mini Urban Decay All Nighter face primer.

Me too! I had the 2018 calendar so this is bringing back memories. That Black Tulip perfume is lush!
It's a meh day for me today as I got hair products in both M&S and H&B which I won't use (a little brush in H&B). I knew there would be some things I won't use but it's annoying to get two on one day!

However, Degustabox has come through with some lovely looking Winter Spice mix.

I also had the Rituals candle this morning; I love candles so am very happy. The lack of Diptique candle in the Liberty advent this year was a big turn-off for me when I was assessing the advents.
This mornings Museli is crispy peanut and chocolate chip. Yum!!
@AprilLady I thought the bottle with your room spray was the perfume bottle when I looked first. A very pretty little bottle, shame it wasnt the perfume one. The shay and blue sounds lovely though! I have the M&S advent waiting for me back in Ireland (got it when I was there in Oct), looking forward to this perfume and yesterdays nail varnish when I hopefully get there

Loving my cleanser from CB today, I really enjoy cleansing balms, the whole ritual of using them, and this is a new brand to me so looking forward to trying it.

Cath Kidston today is a mint lip balm. It's really quite good and hopefully the pretty tube will stop DH from stealing it.
