General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread

As last year, I suggest we use this as a general beauty advent calendar thread for everyone with beauty calendars that may not be covered by other threads or who prefers a general thread. I’m opening FM, Harrods and M&S this year, and will aim to post on both this and the M&S threads.

Please can no-one post any spoilers before 7am on the relevant day.

Just over a week to go. I’m really looking forward to it!

JL is a Laura Mercier Caviar au naturel stick eye colour in a very natural shade which is quick to apply and easy to blend and suits my pale skin.

ASOS is a Beauty Works argan hair serum and comb. I’m looking forward to trying this later.

Is there a swap thread this year? My CB calendar's offering today (Victoria Beckham lipstick in Pout ) looks lovely but I'm 90% certain it'll be too pale for me .

Really like the Lumene stuff so far!

@ApolloandDaphne great idea to use the bath oil as a body oil. I haven't got a bath either so was planning to give it away but was feeling a bit gutted about it

I'm rather jealous of the Ritual 3D offering today as the Serendipity fragrance is really lovely!

it's copy of spice bomb victor and rolf I think. We have the home diffuser at home

bath oil sometimes can be too harsh to be used as body oil, patch test it first. You could also have few drops on your chest/shoulders before you get in the shower or few drops on your dressing gown to enjoy the lovely scent for longer.

Does anyone have the White company calender? Very pleased so far. I opened Amazon last month 🙄 but have Wc and m and s this month 🤣. Love my m and s offerings too!

I'm a bit late to this year's thread. M&S here and also waiting for Amazon to be delivered. I am sure I said I wouldn't get Amazon again after last year's brown lipstick but at 39.99 it seemed like a good idea 🙄

We are sharing Degustabox and have a pact that every item must be sampled by each family member. DS2 is unadventurous to say the least so yesterday's Maille mustard went down like something out of an I'm a celeb food trial. Today's mango and passion fruit offering was much more to his liking.

Lumene sounds good again, maybe next year for me?

@olivo, welcome. I was very tempted by the White Company. I love their candles. Please post pics - it would be lovely to see what you are getting.

Rituals I have purchased this hand cream before and I am happy to get it.
Cult beauty - I am not so sure. It's good size, I don't buy products with limonene usually as I find it irritates my skin but it is in the end of the ingredient list and I will give it a try

I love the rituals offering today. That size of foam wash is perfect for my toilet bag.

Bom dia cream in Feelunqiue today, obviously with it being a cheaper calendar they are small sizes so will probably only get two decent uses out of it but looking forward to trying it.

Having said that I had LF last year that was cheaper at £85 and I don't remember there being loads of teeny sizes in that. Although as I have cult beauty which so far has been really good sized products that might be skewing what I think of the Feelunique sizes too!

JL is a mini Hermes L’Ombre des merveilles perfume which smells lovely. Comes in a cute bottle with a string to attach it to.

JL was on a Luxury Christmas for Less programme the other night and was highlighted as being great value for money. I knew it was for me as I already use a few products that I know are in there, so it made sense to get it for those alone. I’m loving the other items in there too so far.

ASOS is a small tub of Egyptian Magic. I’ve always wanted to try this but have never got around to buying it so I’m happy!

I love that perfume @festivefuschias. It's good one to get!

I have lurked on the calendar opening threads with a touch of envy in previous years but this year DH surprised me with the LF

I’m happy so far, today’s offering is a Caudalie moisturiser. Feels lovely.

Today its hand lotion in the Rituals village. I've not tried the ayurveda range before, it smells nice so happy to give it a try. Nice handbag size too (70ml).
And todays Muesli offering is light gingerbread and nuts

I have the Kiehls one - really disappointed as so far it’s been 4 tiny sample sizes (and I mean tiny, definitely had them for free before!) of face cream.

The muesli advent calendar sounds like one of the best @FaoinDrualus !

Sorry late to the thread but I have White Company this year. Really pleased with it so far. The candle in day one's window is my favourite for Christmas, and I love today's hand cream (have the pump version). Very happy.

I am poor so I got the Profusion advent calendar in the boots Black Friday sale for £15. So far I'm pleased but haven't used anything yet so could still be totally shit !

Day 4

Rahua shampoo and conditioner. Harrods. Not the most exciting day, but at least both the shampoo and the conditioner were together in one drawer, and I haven’t tried the brand.

Wildsmith peptide cream FM. Another travel size moisturiser, but not one I’ve tried before. Looks good.

Nail Polish M&S 2021. I don’t use nail polish that often, but this is a colour I will use when I do.

Eyeko mascara M&S 2018. Meh

4-0 to M&S 2021 so far!

@MiaN, I’ve used the Glow recipe toner before. It’s pretty gentle and I really liked the texture.

Rituals calendar products look good again today, as does the JL perfume.

Nail varnish in M&S. Gorgeous colour but I usually use gel. However, I will use this on toes in the summer.

Eye cream in my other one. I've never used this brand but I hope I like it as it's enormous! 20ml. As my mother would say - enough in it to see me out.
