General “Waifs and Strays” Beauty Advent Calendar opening thread

As last year, I suggest we use this as a general beauty advent calendar thread for everyone with beauty calendars that may not be covered by other threads or who prefers a general thread. I’m opening FM, Harrods and M&S this year, and will aim to post on both this and the M&S threads.

Please can no-one post any spoilers before 7am on the relevant day.

Just over a week to go. I’m really looking forward to it!

Is that the 2018 and 2021 M&S with PK elastic behind door 5? consistent.

Space NK is Dr Dennis Gross daily peels. I’m feeling out of my depth with this calendar, all of the brands are new to me and the products are things I’d never buy again due to the price. I suppose the point is that they’re all little treats.

More than happy with my JL offering of Clinique moisture surge as I know it suits my skin having bought it in the past.

Boots No 7 is a lovely body lotion

Degusta is an interesting spice mix which I look forward to trying out

Degusta is really doing well, as is @FaoinDrualus muesli.

I'm a bit meh about the PK elasticiser from M&S. I've used it in the past when I had long hair, but my hair is very short now. D2's BarryM cal gave her a neon yellow nail polish which she's very pleased with.

I used the m&s shower gel. I really like the smell. Wish it was full size!

In s&g got a full size body scrub- but I still have my old one open to finish!

Day 4, highlighter in 'Condition', and day 5, clear brow gel. Highlighter swatched in second picture, I did it full on, and next to it blended out. It's a pretty peachy champagne sort of colour.

To all the Rituals advent calendar holders, can you actually smell the candles when you light them? I cannot smell them at all!
I’ve lit the rose one this morning and I can’t smell it.
It smelt when I didn’t light it up.

@girafferafferaffe I've had profusion advent calendars before, and liked the things I got in them, so I hope you enjoy it.

Usually if you come in and out of the room you will smell it better. This one is not very strong.

I used the coffee and coconut body scrub I got on day 1 this morning. Definitely not one to be used immediately after cleaning the shower! Very messy and I was pretty sparing with it. It does smell lovely though.

I could smell the first one we got when it was lit. I haven't lit the rose one.

It's really good so far! I've not had the chance to actually try the make up yet but I'm pleased with the bits I've got :)

I didn't like the rituals calendars much last year. I had a toner in Kiehls today!

Candles, not calendar! The calendar was nice.

I often find with candles you stop noticing the scent quite quickly, but if you leave the room and come back the scent is strong. Currently burning a White Company Wild Rhubarb candle which I’m really enjoying. It does have a strong scent, but I do stop noticing it when I’ve been in the room a while.

Aveda’s botanical hair repair today from LF.

I have it on after a long bath. Feels lovely.

M&S My daughter will enjoy trying the elasticixer, no doubt.

Fenwick offering looks nice today, the Guerlain Abeille Royale Advanced Youth Watery Oil. Looking forward to trying it after I finish the current serum I'm using from Elemis.

@rosiebl Thank you for your swap offer, and thanks for starting a swap thread too! I think I'm looking for skincare rather than perfume though.

I've just looked at a review for it, and I'm regretting not picking it up! If I can still find it on payday I'm nabbing it (assuming it's the 25 day one from Boots, not the 12 day one from their website.)

Spring love body or hair mist in Rituals. I am not sure about the scent, I don't dislike it and will use it but unlikely to purchase. Bit disappointed of the size considering the low cost of the full size - it's really small

Cult beauty live tinted hueglow. Complete surprise - I was not interested at all initially. Mixed a drop with estee lauder double wear which I am finding it looks bit too dry for my skin lately and the result was really good - the good coverage of double wear without looking heavy. Very happy with it

Good Day 6:

Instant effects eye serum FM This promises all sorts of miracle improvements when applied, I’m going to give it a go today and see.

Dr Sebagh Rose de Vie serum Harrods. Full size, and one of things I really wanted to try when I bought the calendar. Very happy with this.

Ultrasun Lip Balm M&S 2021. Another practical but not exciting product.

PK elasticiser and it’s M&S 2018’s turn for the elasticiser today.

Think it’s a tie today, so 2021 stays in the lead, currently 4.5 vs 1.5.
