Just tried on some old dresses I had lying around, and glad I did, because realised nothing fits me!

So what are you wearing to your works Xmas parties? Looking for inspiration...

I dunno. Im heavier than I have been in years. I wear smart casual to work. Casual and some cracking boots or something. For the party, I'd love to just look good. Something subtle. I used to have the best black, fine wool polo neck, long sleeve mini dress. Id wear that with knee high boots and always felt amazing in it but I was slim as a whip. Im still healthy weight but have a mum tum now! So look like a block in those dresses. Maybe something mini with a more relaxed waist would still work. God. dont know, Its hard when your body changes.

I know what you mean, I didn't realise how much my body had changed until I tried some old clothes on, in my head I thought I would still fit into them..I sort of do, but they are very snug and not flattering at all. I'm definitely heavier on the boobs and bum now after 2 kids! I'd like something flattering on the waist, maybe a wrap dress. But part of me would also like something halter/ racer back as I like my shoulders so who knows!

& Other Stories is a good place for slightly fancy dresses, in my experience. My favourite Christmas dress of some years' standing came from there. (Not much help to you as it's a few years old, but it's a long black wrap dress with a pattern of red poppies and long sleeves. I love it.)

Dont work so no office party but Im hoping to have a ciuple of nights out for my birthday. Planning on wearing a metallic knit wrap dress(Liliana from Unique vintage) cant link sorry.

I need inspiration too! I feel like I’ve tried on every party dress on ASOS and I hate everything! I’m really in between sizes as well so find an 8 a little too tight (especially for dancing) but a 10 swamps me, especially as I don’t have any cleavage.

That's lovely! The lacy neckline/sleeves are gorgeous. I've never tried on a jumpsuit that looked good on me due to a long body and disproportionately large rear end, but might try this just in case it's the exception.

Love that black wrap dress - I might snap that up for my office party!

Mine is complicated by the fact it's in office hours but goes on from 2pm until the evening so I don't want to look too dressed up but need to wear something that is evening-ready in case things go on longer.

Love everyone's ideas of what they are wearing! Seems like jumpsuits are quite popular, I wasn't sure if they were still in as haven't seen many around, I wore one to my last works party 2 years ago!

Doesn't help that I know what shoes I'm wearing, so need a dress to go with my shoes. Basically off white strappy square toe sandals.

Wide legged black trousers and a red bodysuit.Gold and black bag.

I didn't want to spend too much in case the do is cancelled.

Anything that covers up how fat I've gotten in the past six months . Maybe I'll wind myself in tinsel like a tree.

Love the idea of wide leg trousers.. definitely expanding my search and not just restricting to dresses now..

Has anyone ordered from SilkFred recently? They have some lovely dresses but when I last ordered from them quite a few years ago the returns were a nightmare and I think I had to pay for it

@DentalWorries I ordered a few bits during the summer but kept them all, so don't know about returns sorry!

I’m wearing a leather mini (not that mini) skirt and velvet puff sleeve top I think. Although the alternative is a black and gold midi dress with velvet blazer and boots. Can’t wait to dress up.
