I want lace-up boots as comfy and light as trainers BUT THEY DON’T EXIST

I would like boots which:

Are lace up
Have soft soles or are a bit squishy underfoot
Are light
Go above the ankle ideally, but not completely essential.
Are black or tan or khaki
Are leather or suede

The search for such a pair is now really getting me down. I don’t think they exist…

Ha. Got 'em.

Tempted to buy pair #3. I bought them originally for a trip to Germany for Christmas markets, in another time and place...

I have a really comfy pair of Joseph Seibel boots - soft uppers and soles, lace up with a side zip.

rrhuth · 23/11/2021 18:07

@CharlesCh1ckens

They exist in Ecco if that's your thing
I have some nice boots from ECCO, they are not very ECCO-looking though!
NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 23/11/2021 18:14

Ecco or geox

These are really comfortable I love mine

I've got these too - so comfy, love them.

Elena sneaker boots from Keen!

I have these, the best boots I've ever owned!!

I have just ordered the ones @IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads linked to. I had an earlier version of the Orinoco several years ago and they were light and comfortable. My order arrives tomorrow apparently. I’ll report back.

There's quite a few in UGG (not traditional uGG boots). I also recommend ECCO too and Hotter as someone mentioned, not quite as granny recently (or maybe I'm just getting more granny).

if I'm a size 5 wide foot, what size fitflops should I get then?

are they wide or narrow fit?

pearlchoker · 24/11/2021 00:02

I can certainly recommend Skechers D Lites Chilli Flurry ankle boots. I walked them to death during lockdown and will buy another pair soon. Super comfy, lightweight and look cool too.

They are slightly large and wide. I’d get a 5.

I received the Clarks ones linked above today. Happily, they are not heavy and comfortable 👍

BBCdramaaddict · 24/11/2021 21:08

Try vivobarefoot

Ashue · 24/11/2021 21:52

I hear ya, OP!

At the moment I'm wearing 8 year old ASICS black trainers. And black pretend-Ugg style boots which cost me £20 in Sports Direct over 6 years ago. They are both falling apart and I look a bit trampy in them to be honest.

But I have tried so many black boots and trainers over the last 3 years, all of which have been so uncomfortable, I am stuck with them forever it seems!

Ashue · 24/11/2021 21:54

But my feet are so sensitive, there is literally no point in me buying them on line. I must try them on first! Which means a massive trudge round the shops ....

irridium · 25/11/2021 22:39

I've seen some in Charles Clinkard which I've tried on. Ticks all your boxes.

(I didn't buy in the end as they didn't fit me properly around the front of the boot where it was quite gappy and not so comfortable. I have smalll ankles).
