I want lace-up boots as comfy and light as trainers BUT THEY DON’T EXIST

I would like boots which:

Are lace up
Have soft soles or are a bit squishy underfoot
Are light
Go above the ankle ideally, but not completely essential.
Are black or tan or khaki
Are leather or suede

The search for such a pair is now really getting me down. I don’t think they exist…

Fit flip. Light comfy and sturdy

chalkyc2 · 14/11/2021 14:25

@ambereeree Yes - I have the leather ones and they are fine.

Loads of replies! Thanks all 😊

I have bought and rejected the geox ones after DH said I looked like a security guard Grin

Sorel are great but too narrow for me on the whole

I have the air and grace starlight boots which are comfy and great for work, but too heavy and inflexible for what I’m after now

I don’t want hiker style boots, so that rules out a lot of the links, sorry 😞

Also don’t want anything with a rigid sole, have bought and sent back countless M&S boots so they’re out.

Gudrun sjoden ones are ok, I don’t love them- are they springy?

Didn’t know DM made lightweight boots, might have to see if I can try a pair on somewhere… thanks for that tip!

Gabor I hadn’t considered, and Googling found these which I quite like, although wish the sole was black.

Fitflop have ruined all other shoes for me, and it is the demise of a pair which has led me on this quest. They are light, comfy and now falling apart after years of wear. The only lace up boot they have this year is hiker style which I don’t like- a pair of black polar sneakers would be 100% perfect, but can’t find any of them anywhere…

Thanks again for all the links Smile

I have these - super comfortable and the leather is so soft:

I bought the black leather high tops from Fitflop and swapped the laces to be like boot laces.

They are super comfy and smart enough to wear with skirts/dresses at my office job. 😊

feelingnaive · 14/11/2021 16:58

They also do a black suede version if you prefer to leather!

Newnews · 14/11/2021 18:54

Did you miss the Josef Seibel recommendations? Seriously have a look they are so good.

MoltonSilver · 14/11/2021 19:16

"Gabor I hadn’t considered, and Googling found these which I quite like, although wish the sole was black."

I wonder would it be possible to stain/dye the sole.

Just get old fashioned black high tops

TuftyMarmoset · 20/11/2021 17:51

@NotImpossible

Vivobarefoot Gobis or Belenka Winter Boots? Both pricey but very light and flexible.
I second this! I have the Gobis in eco-suede and I live in them.
MrsKDB · 20/11/2021 17:57

Grenson nanettes. SO light and comfortable. Mine are on their third AW and look almost new.

Josef Seibel are good, German brand shoes do seem very comfortable and hard wearing, they value their feet!

Not exactly boots but I have chronic leg pain and wear the all birds height tops most days.

@ReviewingTheSituation

I'm on the exact same quest!
Me too. Except I need extra wide. Have tried M & S laced boots, looked nice enough but were still not wide enough even in their wide fit. Sizing up didn't work as too big even with insoles. The hunt still goes on. And I am at the point of not caring about price if I can get some!
Heronatemygoldfish · 23/11/2021 18:01

I have some suede Riekers with fur fabric lining and really bouncy soles. Not sure they've still got them in stock - this was 2-3 years ago and I loved them so much I bought a second pair. Still not worn out the first, completely, and they are really good grippers. I love them.

These aren't identical but aren't far off.
