Help please! Turned into a frump!

Hi. I'm 43, bit overweight and short and I hate my clothes!
Never know what looks nice on me? Please help! I wear a lot of black, navy, grey or I have very patterned dresses from White Stuff.
I just don't know where to look or what would flatter me?

I have this in a couple of colours which I wear with skinny jeans, a top and boots or trainers. It's pretty warm and the puff sleeves make it more interesting

@NotMyCat yes, this is the type of cardi I was trying to describe. Much more stylish and flattering than the long like with belt type. I have one similar in a burnt orange colour which I love and one in black and brown/beige. They look good both with tunics/jumper dresses and tights or leggings with boots and with skinny jeans, tee and trainers
