Ooh, that's a bonus WellTidy. You can try the Ren and help deplete your stash.

MoiCnoi · 29/09/2021 17:57

Greetings Beauty Addicts.

I'm a bit of a skincare nube but I'm making up for lost time. I have tried to find a thread with the answer to my question without success so I thought I'd pop in here (I hope you don't mind). As I reckon someone will be able to advise. So.

Products that come with a pipette...how do you wash the pipette?

I'm a couple of weeks into a bottle of vitamin c serum (La Roche posay) and the pipette is looking grim! Like it's been tangoed. Any tips for washing it?

Hope you don't mind me asking here?

Experiment627 · 29/09/2021 19:03

@MoiCnoi I am flattered you have come on here to ask!!!

I am sure more expert opinions than mine will chime in but here is my two cents worth: vitamin C can go "off" quite easily (actually seem to remember downstream someone recommending one that does not oxidise... cannot recall which brand - sorry!).
What I would do - if I still wanted to use - is wash the pipette with water, douse in alcohol (if I could be bothered/had any to hand), keep calm & continue!

Thanks @Experiment627

I particularly like the suggestion to keep calm and continueSmile

Caggie09 · 30/09/2021 15:00

Hmmm, i see Liberty are doing a subscription box. £20 a month, and is redeemable. They sell some great brands, i am very tempted to try it. I imagine it will only be tiny samples though if basically are getting your money back?

Caggie09 · 30/09/2021 18:36

I signed up... not that i need more products..

Anyhoo, last empties for Sept. How is it October tomorrow?! This year has been crazy fast!

  • Tresemme hair spray. My god this is old. I rarely use hair spray, i have a some left but i dont style my hair that often that needs that much hold. I cant remember the last time i used it either..
  • Briogeo honey mask. I have not yet used a bad Briogeo product. The cute packaging is a bonus, but the product itself is good too. I find it has a strong scent, and it does linger on the hair days after using it. Really moisturusing for dry ends, my hair looks so good and glossy after using it! I may have to RP this, i love it!
  • Superdrug fruit sorbet mask. This was such a pointless mask. I didnt see any benefit when i used it. Im on a mission to get my masks used.. so one down, many more to go!

Heres to another month of ploughing through our stash!!

I already did Blush

I also bought a beautiful Mason Pearson hairbrush in the sale and to use a voucher they sent me, but I've wanted one for years and I'm not counting that as products Smile.

PomRuns · 30/09/2021 20:13

@SocksAndTheCity
How nice ! I am trying to use things up so do I need a subscription.. wonder if you could use for a GWP. Loyalty vouchers don’t currently count towards a GWP spend. I’ll continue to ponder

Ponks · 30/09/2021 21:15

@Caggie09 that bear packaging is so cute !

Justilou1 · 01/10/2021 00:24

@Experiment627 Vitamin C goes “off” because of exposure to sunlight and/or oxygen, not microorganisms. It’s purpose in skincare is to help remove free radicals (damaged cells from sunlight and pollution), and promote healing, and it also assists with better/deeper spf protection. I’m afraid that if you wash off a pipette, it won’t help a product that is “off.” (You can tell because it will have darkened to an orange or even brown colour.) Using it at this stage will stain your skin and clothes, irritate your skin and cause more damage than it helps.
Below is a comparison of a few K&J beauty vitamin C serums, including the one I mentioned a while back Melano CC - (I am using the newest 2021 Premium Concentrate Version) and you can see the fab tube and why it doesn’t go off.

Justilou1 · 01/10/2021 00:29

@MoiCnoi - I had problems with my LRP vitamin C serum too. If it is still white, don’t worry about it, it’s just a thick formula. Wipe it off with a tissue and start again. Personally, I don’t think the packaging is stable. It lets in too much light. Mine was orange when I got it and stained my clothes and turned me into Donald Trump every time I used it. (Not his attitudes though.) it was also really gritty. I ended up binning it. *It may have been a bad batch, and I do live in Aus. Perhaps it had a rough trip getting here, or it doesn’t like the climate.

MoiCnoi · 01/10/2021 07:18

@Justilou1 thanks for the link and the posts. I don't think the bottle has gone off just the bits on the pipette. I will check though. I might ditch the pipette and just tip a little onto a pad.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into the Melano CC product.

2 more empties this morning.
The Body Shop eyecream is a favourite of mine so I will do a repurchase. The perfume is lovely and I suspect my MiL might get me a replacement at Christmas. I like Beautiful by EL but it can be heavy for day. The honeysuckle is a bit more subtle.
I've made a collection of items I'm going to work on using up.

Dove soap gone.

WellTidy · 01/10/2021 13:04

Nesti Dante bar of soap used up - took months. I love soaps, but need to stop buying them. I have six in the stash which is the lowest for years.

WellTidy · 01/10/2021 13:10

Also used the Garnier sheet mask that has pink packaging - it’s for hydrating skin so lots of hyaluronic acid. My skin was super dry and it has helped loads with that. Will definitely repurchase. All the Garnier sheet masks are 3 for 2 in Boots at the moment.

crispsarny · 01/10/2021 13:27

Hello all, can I join in? I have come to realise that I have accumulated a fair bit I am officially a Lacura addict, I love their dupes, have another one of their toners (Pixi dupe) their 3 new fragrances (Jo M dupes) organic hand washes & lotions (think they may be Aesop dupes?) all winging their way to me.

FluffyWhiteBird · 01/10/2021 16:20

I've accidentally added to my stash Blush. Running low on a favourite so need to repurchase. There was a special offer on, several actually. It worked out cheaper in the long run to buy the special offer, although it meant buying two, then I qualified for the free gift. I also got sucked into buying a couple other half price special offers while I was there. So I would normally spend £70 on one, instead spent £170 on two, plus an extra pile of skincare, a lipstick and a free gift package. Would have been about £300 if I'd paid full price for everything so I'm happy with my bargain, it just hasn't helped my stash. Still, I feel quite excited about all my new things to try!

ememem84 · 02/10/2021 07:12

Dm added to my stash. My usual Clinique moisturiser. An anti wrinkle serum and the free gift bag that came with it stocked with goodies.

clary · 02/10/2021 09:17

One empty today, well I chucked it, the Lumene eye gel from last year's AC, it made my eyes sting and I did give it a good go. Have another eye cream as well as the lovely Goldfaden RP so really no point going on with the Lumene.

Most Lumene items from the AC were great tho

Ponks · 02/10/2021 09:22

Have a few empties:

  • Aldi ebony rose face mask, their version of the Sisley black rose packaging but nothing like the product. More like how I remember old style oil of ulay. Used as a lightweight overnight moisturiser. Not at all tempted to repurchase.
  • Primark balm to oil cleanser. Pretty joyless but did the job. Small tub would be good for travel. But I would rather spend a few more £ and get a huge tub of the equivalent from No7 or M&S.
  • No7 Protect and Perfect intense day moisturiser. Love this.
  • Champneys intensive overnight hand butter. Absolutely love this and gutted as I think it's no longer available. I'm now on the hunt for an overnight hand cream to replace it.
Ponks · 02/10/2021 09:24

Ah clary you've reminded me of another empty, the Lumene eye cream from last years advent calendar. Nicer than the gel. Lasted for ages and quite soothing but didn't do anything for the wrinkles! The Goldfaden is much nicer.
