Some empties for me!

Carmex lip balm good stuff, got a few more to use up.

Skin and me tube - this is amazing. Prescription skincare is the way to go, plus a retinol that my skin tolerates.

Bourjois cream blusher. Light and creamy. Will miss this. On the lookout for a new cream blush. This one was in a pump dispenser.

Have decided that I love pump dispensers. Probably not the best for the environment but I find these are least messiest and travel well.

Experiment627 · 10/09/2021 15:51

Just popping on to report some empties:

  • Murad AHA/BHA exfoliating cleanser: this is HG for me. More up market than my usual fare however lasts a long time and really helps me keep my skin smooth yet not dried out with RP in time
  • Your Good Skin nourishing hot cloth: ok but prefer the Superdrug Naturally Radiant one

Hi all,

Wondering whether i'm qualified to join you. I didn't think that I was a hoarder, but having done a recent inventory of unopened skin care, hair, and body products, I came up with this shameful lot!

Much of this has come from beauty boxes or advent calendars (not that it makes it much more justified!). I've recently ordered the Liberty editors collection and Fortnums advent calendar too! Blush

As well as this lot, I currently have multiple products on the go, as I keep opening things without using up what I have. Now trying to use up my opened products and am hoping that keeping track of empties will help. I have quite a few things that i'm close to finishing so will post some reviews soon.

(Not sure whether photo has attached but will try again if it hasn't).

Here it is... Blush

@MidnightMeltdown

Jealous of your Elemis and Olaplex stashes!

PomRuns · 11/09/2021 15:56

Lovely stash @MidnightMeltdown I have many similar items plus ordered fortnums 🙂

MidnightMeltdown · 11/09/2021 15:59

Thought I'd start with few empties that I've already accumulated this month:

B.Pure Micellar Water: this was as cheap as chips (I think it might be Superdrug's own brand) as I don't feel that micellar water is something that is really worth investing much in. It's ok, but not good at removing eye makeup. I prefer the Garnier version as it's a bit stronger.

Bio effect Micellar water: this is a mini that I got in an advent calendar and have been using for travel (which I haven't done much of over the past year!). It works perfectly well, but I'd never consider buying it at full price as I don't think that it does anything that far cheaper versions don't do.

Ayumi Tumeric Body Wash: from last years Holland and Barrett advent calendar. Really enjoyed using this, the smell was lovely, but I don't think that I'd want to pay £6 for it. I tend to use scented body moisturiser after a shower, so I'm not really into spending more than a couple of pounds on everyday shower gel, although I do enjoy the nicer ones when they pop up in advent calendars and beauty boxes.

Femme Lumiere Vital C I really liked this. It has a good consistency, absorbs well, and definitely made my skin look brighter. Would probably repurchase if I didn't already have a stack of stuff to use up!

MidnightMeltdown · 11/09/2021 16:06

@daisyjgrey 😂.

The awful thing is that I don't even remember where all these Elemis creams came from. I didn't buy any so they must have appeared in advent calendars and beauty boxes that i've bought. I shoved them in a drawer and didn't realise how many I had until I had sort through recently - there are 4 (one i've just started using)!!

Might donate one to my mum...

MidnightMeltdown · 11/09/2021 16:09

Thanks @PomRuns!

We've probably been buying the same calendars and boxes Wink

AprilLady · 11/09/2021 16:27

@MidnightMeltdown, the Femme Lumiere Vital C is my HG Vitamin C product. Have just finished one, and have another 2 in my stash bought when I found them at a massive discount on a US site. I’m currently using a different Vitamin C serum instead which doesn’t come close.

I suspect I have also bought similar calendars and boxes to you!

MidnightMeltdown · 11/09/2021 16:59

@AprilLady yes I was impressed. I'm sure I'll repurchase this once I've got through a few more of the serums that I already have!

I notice that it's £77 on Revolve (US company), including shipping and import duty, but £88 for the same in Net a Porter. Seems that we're paying a premium over here!

It's certainly not cheap, but the bottle lasted me ages as you need so little.

Experiment627 · 11/09/2021 17:26

You are very welcome @MidnightMeltdown
I loved the Ayumi shower gel too, but also feel the same about the cachinga.

SocksAndTheCity · 11/09/2021 17:49

@MidnightMeltdown I have also bought many of the same GWPs as you Grin

I have my first empties report:

The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA I always end up RP this - it's not fancy or especially exciting but it really works on my skin (I should actually cut the tube open now that I think about it, so it may be a not-quite-empty)

Aurelia Miracle Cleanser I loved this, once I got over the initial panic of putting something with such a strong fragrance on my face. I'm not sure how good it would be for heavy duty makeup removal, but I found it fine for everyday and very nice to use.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Toner This was from a GWP (Cult Beauty, I think) and have already RP when it was on offer, despite having a ton of other toners and acid stuff to get through. It smells lovely and I have the overnight mask too - my skin feels incredibly smooth and clean after using Smile

Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes Meh, but this is for dark circles and I don't have them, so not really a fair trial. I can't get into eye creams, tbh.

Sachets:
Aurelia Revitalise & Glow Serum smelled amazing, not really enough product to know whether it does much
Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Cream I've tried this before and have RP; I really like the Fresh range (the Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence is a HG just because it's a joy to.use)
Gallinee Hydrating Face Cream I thought this smelled odd - not unpleasant, but weird. I have a feeling I have a tube of it in the stash somewhere, so I'll find out more then.
Dr Barbara Sturm Super Anti-Aging Face Cream I always like the DBS samples in GWPs and there always seems to be one, but it's so expensive and I've yet to figure out why? I'll likely never know since I'd need to buy and use it regularly to notice the magical effects Confused

Just finished the M&S Provenance Blood Orange shower gel . Really nice (I'm a bit gutted its gone ) £7.50 for 500ml
I have the Olive one I started and abandoned for the orange . I'll go back to that .

FreshFaceTime · 11/09/2021 20:00

Checking in. Thanks for the new thread. I haven't been great at reporting empties but use the thread to keep me on the straight and narrow. I've put myself on a TOTAL makeup and skincare ban for now. Replacing HGs only for the foreseeable...

FreshFaceTime · 11/09/2021 20:03

Might as well report the one I can recall from this morning.

Nivea in-shower moisturiser which has become a HG since having DC 3. Usually use it in the week but knew it was almost finished so gave it a swill this morning to finish off the dregs. Aleady got replacements in the stash. I buy about 6 at a time.

TheChosenTwo · 11/09/2021 20:31

Empty today - l’occitane almond shower oil.
It’s my fave, I buy the giant refills and have another one which will last months now!

CommanderBurnham · 11/09/2021 21:12

@MidnightMeltdown using up your opened up items will get you started with empties really quickly. Then once you get in your stride you'll hopefully enjoy using up stuff, as it gets you closer to a RP.

I feel that I'm spending more mindfully (hate that word) and can buy spend items as I'm frittering less. Unfortunately it also means that I end up getting GWPs which add to the stash.

MidnightMeltdown · 11/09/2021 22:36

@CommanderBurnham

Yes you're right. I think that recording empties a couple of times a month will encourage me to use stuff up, and also give me an idea of how long it's taking me to get through things. I think part of the issue is that a lot of products last a lot longer that I expect them to, so I end up over buying. A 30ml, or 50ml moisturiser for example, might not look like much, but they can take quite some time to get though especially when you have 5 on the go at once.

Going to save the next lot of empties to post at the end of the month!

Experiment627 · 12/09/2021 08:10

I had such a strange dream... Rich Lux was doing my makeup and I was telling him about a Chanel pallet I was decluttering... and then said pallet sprung open and it was fun of beauty products... that I did not want to part with. There was also a big hairy 🕷😱😱😱

@Experiment627

Sound like an anxiety dream to me. Or maybe you've been reading the HoF advent calendar thread with the spiders legs? 🤣

Experiment627 · 12/09/2021 14:44

@MidnightMeltdown that so rings a bell! I know one year I got this well dodge advent and then the whole thread opened at the same time! Was great fun!
I will get at least two advents this year - the H&B one & the Amazon one...

TheChosenTwo · 12/09/2021 16:19

Oh I just posted including a photo but it hasn’t appeared! I’ll try again but without the photos…
Decluttering 23 nail varnishes, (keeping 26) - room for growth now!
I love doing my nails, I usually do them twice a week and change the colours, the seche vite top coat is an absolute game changer for me, makes everything so incredibly quick which is why I do them twice a week. I used to get my nails done but was bored having to stick to the colour I chose for 3 weeks!!

Experiment627 · 12/09/2021 16:32

@TheChosenTwo I hope you can upload a photo - I would love to see your collection

TheChosenTwo · 12/09/2021 16:41

It’s not particularly exciting!! I’ve just painted them now so once they’re dry I’ll have another go.
