@clary is it the Formula sleep cream in a purple tub? LOVE IT!
Yes that's the one, it was in the M&S AC which I bought and harvested for Christmas gifts, but luckily I kept that one as it's so small 😀

helenabonhamfarter · 22/01/2022 16:04

Hello lovely people- can I join please?

I so need to declutter my beauty hoard so got on a roll this week.

Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay- my favourite in the winter and I have a fresh bottle but will resist taking the black ribbon off the box until I have finished other fragrances on the go!

Samples of Charlotte Tilbury Magic
Serum and Cream- I know it's the holy grail for some but did nothing for me and I found the cream very heavy and greasy personally.

Nesti Dante soap- finished one- this is the wrapper for the next. I ditched shower gels last year and very happy with that (although I confess still a few in the cipboard O need to finish up). I get a much better clean feeling afterwards, I love therapeutically lathering, the bathroom smells lovely and you save the planet. What's not to love?

No7 instant results nourishing mask- absorbs well but can't say it did anything and it's been a bore to finish to be honest'

Philip Kingsley Weightless shampoo- advent calendar at some point. Can't say it felt any different to a simple baby shampoo.

Fragrance Society hand cream- M&S advent calendar-it was okay but overly frangranced for me personally it even made the bedsheets smell.

Aussie 3 minute miracle mask blonde deep treatment (purple)- have been giving purple shampoos a go. As far as a mask goes the Banana Hair Food Mask by Garnier wins hands down and doesn't turn the bathroom tiles purple.

Will keep going this week on my mission!

Welcome @helenabonhamfarter! What a fantastic start!

The Formula Sleep cream is great. Mine has gone into the caravan stash ready for the new season. Only 6 weeks to go now!

Welcome Helena. This is a lovely thread to be part of. I've rediscovered proper soap too. I feel much better recycling paper wrappers than plastic bottles where possible.

Had a trip to Boundary Mill today where they have opened a new beauty section since my last visit. Stocks brands such as Mac, Bobbie Brown, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Origins, Aveda etc and some perfumes.
I had a good look at what was there but just bought a Jo Malone candle for my friend's birthday.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 22/01/2022 18:43

As usual, my use up rate is so much slower than everyone else!

Clarins gentle exfoliator - I know the older style grittier exfoliators have fallen out of favor, but this was really good. I still think gritty exfoliators feel more effective on skin. Anyway, this was lovely and a RP when I’m down the stash a bit more.

Experiment627 · 22/01/2022 18:46

@latedecember1963 well done - you were a strong lady 🙌🏼

Empty Again!!! 1500ml bottle of Pureology Hydrasheer Conditioner. Awesome stuff. I will buy again when the rest of my stash is used up. I have a sensitive scalp and cat hair. This is fab and it smells divine. Has a cooling effect which is much appreciated here also. Very expensive where I live, but this monster bottle lasted 2.5 years, so in the long run, actually a butt load cheaper than supermarket shampoo. I find I need less of this than any other product and it rinses super clean. Will miss it.

PomRuns · 23/01/2022 11:11

Welcome @helenabonhamfarter
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

elemis resurfacing face wash. It was quite drying, would not repurchase.
Sukin body lotion. Was fine, nothing special.
fragrance society hand cream. Agree had very over powering fragrance - was very moisturising though.
molton brown ginger lily body wash. Have rediscovered my liking for this brand.

Now a revelation for me!
I’ve been so sneery about this Ren ready steady glow, mainly as seems to be in every GWP but actually I thought it was very good, brightening and I had a couple of dark marks which seem to have improved.

Total this year:
4 samples.
10/100 travel/full size products.

PomRuns · 23/01/2022 11:11

Forgot the pic.

I'm so slow! Used up a hotel shower gel, can't remember when I got it, and a Mitchum deodorant.
I'm also trying to go through candles, teas etc.

MidnightMeltdown · 23/01/2022 13:38

3 more empties this week:

7) Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip protectant in plum: a regular purchase for me. It's moisturising and my perfect shade. Always have several on the go.

8) Darphin stress relief detox mask: lasted quite a few uses considering that it's only 5ml. Smells lovely and very nice to use, but not convinced that it has any lasting effects. I don't normally buy face masks as I don't think that they're worth the money and I get plenty in beauty boxes so won't rp.

9) Jo Malone pomegranate noir body cream: I tend to use this instead of perfume for evenings out as I find that the scent lasts better. I like it and will RP at some point, but have too much other stuff to use up at the moment. Also it's very much a winter scent.

Total empties for the year: 9/125

Welcome @helenabonhamfarter - blackberry and bay is also my favourite Jo Malone scent Smile

A few more empties:
F&M Lilas perfume - from the Ac I love this so much, if anyone has one they don't want?? Finished it in a month oops. Smells gorgeous tho. Have rp from ebay.
Sol de janeiro bum bum cream - I know this doesn't get a lot of MN love but I like the smell and how it smooths. Tiny pot tho. F&M again
Espa bath crystals - from CB AC I think. Deeply uninspiring - fragrance vanished at once and I was left with a handful of dead flower petals floating in my bath. Humph.

The elemis I have already mentioned so i can't have that twice :)

AprilLady · 23/01/2022 17:32

Not as many empties this week:

Lancome Génifique. I really like the texture of this, to me are very similar to ANR etc. Have many similar serums in the stash so won’t repurchase for now.

Oskia Gel Cleanser. I did quite like this, but prefer the balms and oils which can be used on eyes as well. With this I needed an additional eye make up remover as well.

AB Rich cream. Similar experience to @PomRuns on this. I’ve got a few from calendars and had been pretty in excited by it so hadn’t tried it. I used it as a night cream only and ended up really liking it. More in the stash though, and still not worth the RP

Total for year: 7 full size, 12 travel/deluxe size.

AprilLady · 23/01/2022 17:37

@clary, I agree that those bath salts are pointless. I like some of the other products in the range though, like the body cream.

@Justilou1, thanks for the info and suggestions about the eye cream. The somewhat unsatisfactory answer is that I use a separate eye cream mostly because I have loads thanks to ACs and beauty boxes. I never actually buy them on their own. I like the texture of the MZ Skin one in particular, and the face cream in the same series is quite different, I think because the SPF in the face cream gives it a tackier texture.

Caggie09 · 23/01/2022 17:38

36/100

Olympea body lotion. It was fine, the scent lasted pretty much all day and paired with perfume it made it stronger. Prefer a cream or a butter to a lotion though.

Ouai detox shampoo. Im usually whacking dry shampoo on a day after washing, but its either the medication im on, or my scalp has decieded not to produce so much oil! So usually i need a good "detox". It does feel like it has cleaned more than a usual shampoo and it smells nice!

Aussie hair mask. A quick mask you can put on im 10 mins, they give you a fancy shower cap too. I tend to leave them on for an hour. I like Aussie products, this was fine.

Mane & Tail sachet.

Ponks · 23/01/2022 19:47

I really like that Ouai detox shampoo too @Caggie09 , the smell is lovely.

Latest empties:

 • Ameliorate transforming lotion in Rose, this is great stuff and worked wonders on my upper arms. Definitely keep purchasing this.
 • Aldi peptide moisturiser in Drunk Elephant rip-off packaging: not worth it. Found it irritated my skin slightly and wasn't very moisturising, better when I added a couple of drops of oil to it.

Hello and love the user name @helenabonhamfarter!

MidnightMeltdown · 23/01/2022 22:38

I'm also loving the Lilas perfume @clary. It's eye wateringly expensive though!

I thought that the F&M calendar was fab this year. Definitely my favourite.

clary · 23/01/2022 23:57

I'm also loving the Lilas perfume *@clary*. It's eye wateringly expensive though!

I thought that the F&M calendar was fab this year. Definitely my favourite.

yes @MidnightMeltdown I thought it was great, so many excellent products. Surprised myself by liking the fragrance as I've not worn perfume for years. Moisturisers great too. A really luxe purchase.

Side note: I was trying to explain it to some colleagues and they clearly were thinking of some slightly superior Cadbury one! I mean I love chocolate too but, well, this is a bit better...

MidnightMeltdown · 24/01/2022 11:35

@clary I haven't opened the moisturisers yet (I have a backlog of moisturisers from last year that I'm trying to get through first! 🙈). Have tried the cult 51 cream before though and remember that it was very nice. I even liked the room sprays this year.

I've had the F&M calendar for the past 3 years and it's consistently my favourite. I may even take the the risk of buying it this year without checking the contents first as it would be nice to have a daily surprise.

Yes, Cadbury's definitely not quite the same!

Is F&M code for Fortnum and Mason?

Yes Fortnum and Mason

Experiment627 · 25/01/2022 07:36

Thanks @MidnightMeltdown!
Perhaps one for later this year!

I have an empty to report:

 • Odylique repair lotion: not keen on the smell... I think it is the camomile or the chickweed (?) but my mum got this for Kwicklet and I am sure it has gone off as has been open about a year and it says to use within 3-6 months... anyhoo I slathered this on my legs and quickly used up.

So this now ends my body lotion stash (unless I find some hidden somewhere- which is actually quite likely). I find myself in the strange position of having NO body lotions - I had the inspired thought this morning to use the Crabtree & Evelyn jojoba body oil as a body lotion sub - so far so good. This oil must be more than 10 years old 😳😳 & has now been discontinued- which causes me much sorrow as I adore the smell but I am determined to use this oil up!
I also just came across a tube of E45 anti-itch cream (was for Kwicklet) and I will try that out on my KP as it has urea in it.

It is not so much that I am spending less on my beauty addiction... just that Inam being more intentional with it all. Which makes me feel good.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 25/01/2022 13:34

Thrown away a crusty Elizabeth Arden mascara and a couple of stubs of black kohl pencils (one Rimmel and the other Elizabeth Arden). I've soooo many black kohl pencils but I really wish I had something a bit more permeant, so I don't have panda eyes at the end of the day.

Also finished a small M&S Calm shower gel from this years advent calendar, very herby smell, don't think I really liked it. Would not repurchase.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 25/01/2022 19:45

I've also just thrown a Rimmel eyeshadow quad that had turned to dust. I think its one I got in the pound shop about 10 years ago! I hadn't used it because I had purple glasses for a long while and thought green eyeshadow may have been A Bit Much!

Caggie09 · 27/01/2022 20:41

43/100. 57 to go!
I suspect my empties will slow down now as im trying to get through full size older "stock".. i am getting more of a thrill using things up knowing ive not just brought another hoard in!

 • Dirty works sheet mask. This was crap, i dont know whos face this was measured up againest but i didnt fit mine, and there was cut out bits and confusing flap bits to it, too much faff!
 • Emma Hardie Midas touch cream. At first i wasnt keen, but it has grown on me. The smell can be abit overpowering (like that god awful EH SPF🤢) it did its jobs, and i didnt look greasy at the end of the day. I think this one would be perfect for summer. I have another in stash that ive moved on to!
 • Flexitol heel balm sachet. I found this clearing out an old bag, so tried it out last night. Im just to lazy with foot care, when i need a foot cream ill buy one, for now im fine without.
 • Malin + Goetz bergamonr deodorant. Wow this smells so zingy and fresh!! Im a slave to Mitchum though, but for a natural roll on, it was nice and i didmt have that usual pong you get with a natural one after a few days! Ah i wish Mitchum did a zesty smell now!!
 • Snow Fairy shower gel. I love this, but it does get sickly after a while.
 • Lee Stafford Choco locks conditioner. Didnt rate the shampoo, dont rate this either. My hair just doesnt feel good after ive used it, i mean my hair smells like chocolate for a good few days, but i want soft hair!!
