I think I might get the Molton Brown set too, Caggie09. Did you go for the fresh or floral option? The floral scents are more familiar for me.

ememem84 · 03/10/2021 08:33

The ordinary hyloronic acid finished

PomRuns · 03/10/2021 09:10

Two empties:
Aurelia cleanser. This was my last one from a few GWP. It’s nice as a morning cleanser, not effective enough in the evening.
Rituals Ayurveda shower gel. It’s nice but not sure I like foaming gels.

Justilou1 · 03/10/2021 14:26

@MoiCnoi - you’re welcome re the info. I have been trying to learn about different kinds of vitamin c used in skincare this weekend. So many now!!! As far as your LRP one goes, tbh, you’re better off using clean fingers than cotton pad. You don’t waste any then.

Justilou1 · 03/10/2021 14:34

Oh yes! I have three empties… (not very fascinating). Two more mini Nars Afterglow lip balms. One in Dolce Vita and the other in Torrid. (I seem to have had two of those on the go and not noticed.) Dolce Vita is a lovely rose coloured tint and Torrid a gentle apricot/peach, which suits me better at this time of year. (Springtime here.) Love these. The texture is amazing and if they weren’t hideously expensive, I’d consider repurchasing. I genuinely think you can get the same effect from chapstick or Revlon though. (Although the Nars is unscented, which is fabulous and the packaging is really luxe.) I finally used up the Laneige Peach lip balm in a squeezy tube. While it’s perfectly nice, and smells yummy, don’t be fooled. It’s not the same formula as the magical elixir in the pot. (I just thought it would be more hygienic in my handbag.) I am also down to my last pot of the stupendous night sleeping mask!!!🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Caggie09 · 03/10/2021 14:50

@latedecember1963 i went with floral. I have a few scents from that collection and i enjoy them. I was tempted to get another one to gift, but id be too tempted to keep itGrin

latedecember1963 · 03/10/2021 16:13

I went with floral too. I'm going to split the set into birthday and Christmas gifts and keep the rhubarb shower gel for myself so not adding too much to my stash.

CherryMargo · 03/10/2021 16:55

Hello ladies! I missed you all! 🤗 Nice to see lots of new faces here!

I hope everyone had a beautiful summer! 🌞 Unfortunately, I had nothing to report in August. My September empties were as follows:

1-2) L'Occitane en Provence Dry Skin Hand Cream x 2 (10 ml; GWP) – both expired in July 2014 🤮 it was a non-greasy white cream with an elegant scent. It absorbed very quickly, and I always appreciate this about hand and body creams.

  1. Emma Hardie Moringa Light Cleansing Gel (15 ml; GWP) – a thick yellow gel with an intense floral scent which turns to oil on application. It does not remove makeup though, so I used it in the morning and for second cleanse.

  2. MALIN+GOETZ Grapefruit Face Cleanser (3 ml; GWP) – a very thin pale yellow gel with a grapefruit scent. It kept my breakouts at bay but severely dehydrated my skin.

  3. Verso Skincare 1 Blemish Deep Cleanse (2 ml; GWP) – a transparent unscented gel which made a couple of deep acne spots on my chin surface in just two days! It also unclogged my pores pretty well, so I definitely recommend it if you have oily skin.

  4. OSKIA Citylife Cleansing Concentrate (2 ml; GWP) – a transparent gel which smelled of sulphur and lavender, and burnt when it got into my eyes. An OK cleanser, but I expected more from it tbh. Glad I didn’t invest into a full-size (its RRP is £35 for 40 ml 😬).

The total number of products left: 60 foil sachets, 48 deluxe samples and 226 full-size products.

For obvious reasons, I will be abstaining from purchasing advent calendars, and my Black Friday haul this year will probably be rather modest, too.

Caggie09 · 03/10/2021 17:10

@CherryMargo I have the Malin+Goetz cleanser mini in my stash. I was worried it was going to be quite dry for my face! Ill give it ago, but wont get my hopes up!

AprilLady · 03/10/2021 17:40

Attempting to go back to weekly reporting of empties, in the hopes of refocusing on using things up rather than buying new stuff.

This weeks empties include:

Supergoop unseen sunscreen I think others have also reviewed this; a really good suncream for using under make up.

Ren dark spot moisturiser. Fine, but nothing special. Have more samples in my stash.

The Inkey list niacinimide Texture and product were fine, but the very basic bottle meant it was difficult to avoid too much coming out each time.

Benefits goof proof brow pencil HG product for me, have more in my stash

Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules. Only a week’s worth in the sample, so too few to decide if they had any impact. Also find the capsules fiddly to use, and surely wasteful in terms of packaging. Not sure why so many brands choose to use them rather than eg. a pipette dispenser which is both hygienic and easy for controlling quantities.

ememem84 · 03/10/2021 18:59

Somehow managed to drop my stubby little eyeliner pencil (Dior) down the plug hole. Couldn’t have done that if I’d tried! So that’s gone. Reckon I had about 5 sharpens left of it.

But onto the next one.

ememem84 · 03/10/2021 21:23

Oh and L’Oréal dream Lengths no haircut cream used up.

userxx · 03/10/2021 21:35

@crispsarny am absolutely loving Lacura, the glycolic toner is fantastic, Ive ordered 3 other ones and the rose oil which smells amazing.

crispsarny · 04/10/2021 09:19

@userxx Lacura is fab isn’t it, the pricing & quality is excellent, I’m always excited to see what new products they bring out. I’ve also got the glycolic toner on it’s way Grin I was using the rose toner which I loved but I ran out & it wasn’t available, I ended up buying the new toner 3 pack to try (acacia, vit c & salicylic) I’m liking the acacia toner, the acacia serum works well alongside it. Their Q10 serum @£2.99 is fab, the rose oil is also a very nice treat for the face & senses, it is lovely Smile. I’m really hoping they bring out a full size of the JM bitter orange dupe, I got a 15ml bottle a few Christmases back & love it!

Justilou1 · 04/10/2021 13:31

I have a new empty and it’s a good one! I have FIIIIINALLY finished a giant (230ml) bottle of SK-II Treatment Essence. It was a present a few years ago. Costs about the same as a souped up Hummer with all the bells and whistles to prepare you for the coming Zombie Apocalypse, but it is far less effective. Is it all that and a bag of chips? No. I have had much faster and much more immediate improvements in my skin from Hada Labo Shirojyun Lotion (it’s an essence too) and Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence (kind of the same thing as SK-II, but much more advanced and stronger version. Has more strains of ferment too.) HaruHaru Black Wonder Rice Hyaluronic Toner. (Even more modern.) All of those things are less than one tenth the price of the SK-II.

Justilou1 · 05/10/2021 01:16

Oooh, and this one… bloody lovely. Giant bottle and smells like lemon sorbet.

userxx · 05/10/2021 07:38

@crispsarny yep, I ordered the 3 tonics too, not tried them yet as I'm using the glycolic one which is bloody brilliant. Going to try the cleanser with the cloth tonight. I also picked up an eye cream in store so hoping that's just as good. Can't believe the amount of products I got for £30!!

CornishTiger · 05/10/2021 08:00

Is the Lacura Healthy Glow Glycolic Toner a good dupe for pixi or ren one? I’m currently using a similar limelife one and will need a new one soon.

crispsarny · 05/10/2021 09:21

@userxx is it the hot cloth cleanser or the cleansing balm? The 90g cleansing balm with flannel was a fantastic buy at £6.99, it sold out quickly online. I wanted to try one of their eye creams but the only thing I can put on my eyes is almond oil, anything else just irritates them. @CornishTiger I haven’t tried the glycolic toner yet but there are lots of reviews on this old link of an older batch sold online here -

If you search their website they have restocked it Smile

Caggie09 · 05/10/2021 13:21

Not many empties this week!

  • Carex Drumstick shower gel. For a quid you really cannot go wrong. Lasts ages, smells nice and doesnt dry my skin out. Bonus as its not my posh stuff so dont mind everyone using itGrin
  • REN Altantic kelp body cream. Im using other bits from this range at the mo, and i have to say this is my least favourite. It's nice, but feel like its lacking abit for me. I dont feel that moisturised with it and the cream is abit thick for a pump bottle. I went through this super quick too, ive barely used the shower gel too!
  • Oskia cleansing milk. The packaging is awful, you just pour it out and end up with too much! But, it smells lovely and it is so gentle on the skin. Soothed my face and didnt irratate me. I did get bored of it though. I wouldnt RP this, for the price its not worth it. Prefer the gel cleanser by Oskia!
  • Tata Harper Water lock moisturiser x2. A lightweight moisturiser thats for sure, but really packed alot in. I wasnt expecting it to be that moisturising as it is so light. Worked perfectly under makeup and left with subtle glow. It smells very familiar but cant put my finger on what? I wouldnt buy this as found my HG. But was nice to try!

@crispsarny Its the Vitamin C hot cloth cleanser - it's massive!!! Think it will last me a lifetime. Just been eyeing up the Vitamin C Serum but will resist and see how I get on with this lot.

FluffyWhiteBird · 05/10/2021 18:58

Tesco lemon essence soap used up. Cheap and cheerful, does the job and nice to use. It was a pack of 4 so 3 left.

My Boots parcel came today so my stash increased a little. Once the packaging is gone it doesn't take up too much room though.

CommanderBurnham · 05/10/2021 22:30

Hi all just catching up and have some empties to report!

One more skin + me doser - the only retinol that's working for me and boy does it work. Really pleased with this.

Aromatherapy and associates shower gel-nice but overpowering.

Some random moisturiser sachets

Schwarzkopf Silver shampoo - got one more of these left and I really want to try the fudge one but I will resist until I finish this last one.

Also bought some deodorant, from rituals - ritual of Jing my absolute fave.

I think I'm going to chuck some half used 'boosters' and some make up. Still galls me when I see how much I've spent.

Keep going everyone!

MidnightMeltdown · 05/10/2021 22:42

My first 4 empties for October:

  1. Welda Recuperating bath milk - this was lovely. It smells like vicks vaporub so would be good if you had a cold! Might repurchase at some point, although I do normally like a few bubbles in my bath.

  2. Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara - I liked this mascara. Lasts well and doesn't smudge. Not sure that its significantly better than others to justify the price tag though. I haven't bought a mascara in years as I always get them in calendars etc.

  3. Benefit Dallas - this is a staple for me that I've bought for years. Have another in the stash

4) Body Shop Strawberry hand cream - this smells lovely, absorbed well, left hands soft and I liked the texture. It was ok for me, but I wouldn't recommend it if you have very dry hands as it wasn't the most moisturising of hand creams.

Aiming for another 4 empties this month.
