I’m another one curious about the snail juice. Not curious enough to try it myself though!

TheChosenTwo · 18/09/2021 09:22

Decluttering these without even opening them. I don’t take supplements and wouldn’t use any from a beauty box! Can’t remember what they came in now, I have a feeling it was a cult beauty one off box for problem skin.

Hey ladies, refound the thread :)

Got a couple of empties:
Caudalie vinoperfect serum eclat - this was OK but I have had better sera (serums?)
Allies of Skin vitamin C - quite nice again but not wondrous.
Spa Magik BB cream SPF 15 - I really liked this and would RP, nice glow and not heavy on my skin

All these came from AC or GWP I think. The BB cream is a good example of a good AC product (in H&B last year??) as it has lasted me about six months which is as long as you want to keep a foundation IMO (don't wear make up everyday atm). A big bottle just goes manky. I do see it's not super green tho.

TheChosenTwo · 18/09/2021 10:59

@clary allies of skin vitamin c is my absolutely holy grail product! I don’t go a day without using it Grin I always RP!

MidnightMeltdown · 19/09/2021 15:42

I haven't done so well with the empties this week. Only two:

Espa 24 hour balancing moisturiser: This was ok. It's has a very thin, watery consistency which was ok for summer, but not sure that I'd want to use it in winter. Probably best suited to someone with oily skin. I wasn't a fan of the strong herbal smell either.

Bramley conditioner with lemon, mandarin and rosemary essential oils: quite nice but wouldn't repurchase as I've used better conditioners. The smell was lovely, but I have a lot of hair, and had to use a lot of product to get satisfactory conditioning. The bottle literally only lasted a couple of uses. Also, I'm unsure whether the Lemon affected the bleach in my hair, as I had a few comments about my highlights looking lighter/ brighter after using this product!

One not empty:

Upcircle face scrub with coffee and citrus oils: not finished but unfortunately needs to be binned. I got this in the Holland and Barrett advent calendar last year and really don't like anything about it. I don't like the smell, the horrible oily gritty consistency, or the big brown mess that it makes all over the bathroom when you use it. I tried it on my face a couple of time, then I put it in the shower thinking that I might use it for bumpy skin on the back of my arms. However, it makes so much mess and just doesn't smell nice, so I've decided that it's just not worth it. It's a shame as I don't like to waste stuff and it's an ethical skincare brand.

@MidnightMeltdown im using that conditioner atm too. But mine seems to have seperated! Ive got a mix of thick conditioner, and water! Doesnt smell off, so just assumed because its got oils in? How was yours?!

MidnightMeltdown · 19/09/2021 18:31

Yeah, I think mine might have separated a bit too. There was definitely some 'liquid' in the bottle (oil?) that was separate to the conditioner. I'm using the shampoo at the moment too, but haven't quite finished that yet. I'm finding that I have to use a lot of shampoo to get a good lather, so it won't last long!

I was keeping them for travel, but as I haven't been travelling much over the past 18 months, I'm now trying to use up my travel sized products before they get too old.

FluffyWhiteBird · 19/09/2021 18:47

I finished up Vichy Normaderm Phytosolution today. Comes in a small green bottle costing around £20. It's a face serum containing salicylic acid, which my dry-skin face hated, but I've found it to be excellent for razor rash and the bumpy permanent-mini-spots area on my upper arms. So I will repurchase.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 19/09/2021 23:02

Not much from me - there never is. I’m so impressed at the speed you all get through your stuff.

Nip +fab vitamin c serum - I could not see any noticeable difference, although the tube lasted for ages. I will try a few other vit c things before looking at this again.

Supergoop unseen sunscreen - really liked it and would get it again.

Ponks · 20/09/2021 09:02

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName I've found that Goop sunscreen is great for putting on over makeup during the day.

My empties:

No7 Hydraluminous foundation, love it and will repurchase in future.

No7 radiance eye masks, good for a temporary plumping effect on the under eye wrinkles. Probably won't repurchase as I generally didn't remember or have time to use them in the morning.

An old Body Shop body butter I found when clearing out the bathroom, smelt a bit musty but was fine for the feet.

Amber Solaire anti age spf, very cheap and felt nice but I think foundation pilled on top.

Experiment627 · 20/09/2021 09:33

@MidnightMeltdown I totally hear you with the Upcircle scrub... I am trying to get inti it but the mess!!!!!

I have two empties:

  • Superdrug Vitamin E volume lip balm: did not notice more voluminous lips however I did like this - it has grains in it that make you feel like you are exfoliating as well as moisturising (if that is even possible). Great value.
  • Kerastase specifique bain divalent balancing shampoo: I have not bought a higher end shampoo for ages and I loved using this. It just felt lovely on. I did find though that I needed to condition my ends - I did not have this with the Elvive clay one. Still washing my hair every day but I think I am going to try a few more higher end shampoos out as I may be nearer to finding something that really helps my oily roots. I broke out a Revlon one this morning.

WellTidy · 20/09/2021 09:50

Hello again all. I dip in and out of these threads depending on the severity of my hoard, and I last posted at the beginning of the year/end of last year. I found that my skin was reacting to products for the first time ever, and I wondered whether it was because if the sheer volume of different things that I was slathering on myself Smile. I went back to my trusty Estee Lauder skincare and my skin calmed down loads. Until last week, when I had horrible acne which needed prescription strength stuff to treat. Waiting for a second GP appointment and a referral to a dermatologist.

Which means that skincare is off the table. Which, in turn, means that I am going hell for leather on the body stuff! And some hair stuff, but I have crap hair and products don't tend to make much difference to it.

Empties this weekend:

500ml Waitrose fig and sandalwood bath foam (they are discontinuing this, which I am devastated about as I love anything figgy and this is brilliant for the price. Also discontinuing their hand wash and shower gel in the same range, across all the scents)

100ml Weleda birch anti-cellulite body oil - this is brilliant, quite masculine smelling, but it has taken me an absolute age to use up. I have another in the stash, but would not re-purchase as I have a mountain of body creams and I have been looking at the bottle for pretty much a year

75ml Occitane almond shower gel - gorgeous, as ever. Part of a beauty box/GWP, so would not purchase as too pricey for me, given that I have other shower gels in the stash. But gorgeous

Small (7.5ml?) Benefit pore-fessional primer (I am really hoping that I will be able to use this when my face calms down as it is the HG of primers for me)

Lovely to see such familiar names, and that you're all enjoying your hoards! Mine is smaller than ever (but still massive, these things are all relative) but I am not having a beauty advent calendar this year so that will help! I still have memories of visiting a friend where there was one bathroom, with no storage in it, only one shelf. The four of them shared that one shelf and all of her 'hoard' fitted on it. Not that I'm aiming for that or anything, but can you imagine?! (I can't, by the way)

WellTidy · 20/09/2021 09:51

Gosh, that was long.

Experiment627 · 20/09/2021 10:05

@WellTidy really sorry to hear that your skin is playing up again. Hopefully the dermatologist can help.
I do always aspire to be more of a minimalist... but sometimes more is just more!!!!! I definitely try to limit what I have open - trying to do one in one out when I shop my stash.

WellTidy · 20/09/2021 10:25

Thank you @Experiment627. Yes, after a lifetime of decent skin, its quite a shocker to get such awful spots. And I have a huge amount of skincare that is currently off limits!

Also remembered that I've finished the 100ml Olaplex No. 3, which is gutting as I really like it and will have to fork out £20+ to replace. But I also really like the banana hair mask that everyone has been raving about and I've only just tried, down to £3.45 for a big tub in Savers) so maybe I will give that more of a go. Finished the Phillip Kingsley elasticizer last month which came in an MS beauty box a couple of years ago) which was also the bees knees, but again, £20+. Expensive tastes, me.

Caggie09 · 20/09/2021 10:31

@WellTidy Hope your face calms down soon!

Reporting one empty this morning. Im going away to a posh hotel today, so all pampered up to go. Ill be sat in the hot tub with a drink in hand tonight! And i will be taking the hotel toiletries home with me, plus the mini barGrin

-111Skin Rose gold sheet mask. My last one in my stash. I dont think i could ever bring myself to pay £85 for a box. They usually end up in GWP anyway. But, they are my favourite. Skin looks instantly smooth, hydrated and perfect prep for the rest of your routine. Also like the fact is not soaking in serum and doesnt slip dpwn your face!!

WellTidy · 20/09/2021 10:38

Wow @Caggie09 I've just looked at those sheet masks. If my skin ever calms down, I am 100% treating myself to one. The cream that I got on prescription is drying my skin so so much. They look absolutely amazing.

WellTidy · 20/09/2021 10:39

And enjoy your time away! Looking forward to hearing what the posh hotel toiletries haul will be.

Experiment627 · 20/09/2021 11:56

@Caggie09 I like your style! Raiding the amenities and the mini-bar - yes!!! EnJOY your trip!

TheChosenTwo · 20/09/2021 23:07

@WellTidy it’s ironic that I had beautiful clear (totally clear!) skin when all I did was rinse my face with water in the shower and didn’t wear a scrap of makeup other than eyeliner for a special occasion!
Then I took to tinkering about with my face and buying skincare and wearing makeup. I’m pockmarked, scarred, have pigmentation marks, my face is a total mess now! 3 years of messing about with my skin has done it literally no favours at all, I curse that I ever started really.

WellTidy · 21/09/2021 14:30

@TheChosenTwo That's what we get for messing with mother nature Grin! I bought a concealer from the Dior counter in Boots this morning (I don't have a concealer, so I was allowed) and the assistant, who clearly realised quite quickly that I am the kind of person who will happily splurge, gave me a sample of foundation, serum, day cream and perfumes for me and DH.

So I can add those to the ever-growing stash!

DH is not a hoarder. He has a grand total of the following 'beauty' products - shampoo (which he washes his body in too), razor, shaving gel, contact lenses, contact lens solution, toothbrush, toothpaste. And now a Dior Sauvage sample.

SocksAndTheCity · 21/09/2021 16:01

And my much less impressive one! All either ancient (the Champneys bubble bath) or GWP stuff.

I liked all three and I know the Alpha H Liquid Gold stuff is especially popular, but I don't think there was enough here to make a value judgement and I have tons of acid things to plough through.

Not shown: Amplex blue roll on which I finished yesterday morning and chucked straight in the recycling.

MidnightMeltdown · 21/09/2021 17:48

@Experiment627

I've often wondered whether high end shampoos are worth the money. I find that it makes barely any detectable difference to my hair which shampoo I use. Admittedly, I haven't tried many expensive ones though.

I do tend to find that the conditioner can make a difference, just not the shampoo

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 21/09/2021 17:53

I am not convinced that expensive shampoos are worth it. My friend has bleached her hair years and I understand that she buys the expensive stuff, but I’m not persuaded that I need it.
