@Experiment627 re shower gels, I did stop when I realised I'd bought about 15 bottles.. luckily have a big bathroom cupboard built into the eaves! Looking forward to hearing about the big Boots experience, I haven't been in a big Boots for ages and miss shopping in person.

Today's empty is a small size Ren jelly cleanser which was ok. I don't think I've ever really loved anything from Ren though one day would like to try something in the Rose Otto range.

Nice to have such an active thread, love hearing all the mini reviews!

Caggie09 · 13/01/2022 17:46

28/100!

  • Prada candy kiss. I love the orginal, tjis is similar. I got another bottle for Christmas, so used this up as no point in hoarding a duplicate!
  • Tommy Girl. Straight up sick of this scent. Been lingering for years, the scent doesnt last to long so was used up for work.
  • Daisy mini perfume. Not my favourite, never really enjoyed Marc Jacobs fragrances, not a brand i use often. Agaim, been around for years.
  • Olaplex no7 bonding oil. Think ive been using this just under a year, so even though the bottle is tiny, it lasts such a long time! I love it, i use jt on dry hair. It just makes it look and feel healthy, my hair is the best its ever been. I will RP, but i have about 5 other hair oils im stash...
  • Mane & Tail shampoo sachet. Normally you dont get enough to get a good feel of a product, but i really enjoyed the shampoo, it lathered really nicely and my hair feels clean. Not even conditioner for my liking, but so far im enjoying it!
  • Lemon sheet mask Holika Holika. Ive missed a good sheet mask, instantly refreshing and cooling.
  • Fresh Sleeping mask sample. I gkt about 3 nights out of this. Step 1 was an essence type gel, which i liked more than the cream, but as a pair worked really well. Did feel a little sticky at first, but my skim was lovely amd soft in the morning! Would possibly try a full size!
  • Medik8 Hydra b5. Its a good hyaluronic acid, but it doesnt blow me away. Its one id go back to knowing it works, it doesnt leave your face feeling tacky, and i love the fact it has the little ml on the dropper to measure out!

That is all for now. Still not purchased anything either which is good, eagerly awaiting my Liberty beauty drop though!

Another couple of empties.

REN Glow Daily vitamin C cream - we all seem to have these, I've definitely written on here about it before. I like it, it's light and doesn't wreak havoc. No RP because I have other moisturisers in the queue.

Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant - I don't want to like this, I want it to be all hype because if you don't get it when there's an offer on, it's about £30, which is pushing it. But infuriatingly, it works and is definitely an HG. It doesn't feel luxurious like a nice cream or serum but if I don't have it, I notice. After a few days my skin doesn't feel right and areas like my nose start to get noticeably worse. So here I am, suckered into it. Drat!

I seem to be getting trough quite a few things recently, which is good, but does give me the panic that everything is going to run out at once and then I'll have to go out and buy everything in one hit, just thinking about having to do that gives me hives.

I've built up quite a bit of credit on Beauty Pie and I'm waiting to have enough money squirrelled away to do a massive order, stock up on the core things I like, use up all the allowance and then cancelling the subscription for a while. I don't buy from them very often but the things I do get are excellent. I also get really annoyed by the £3.99 p&p on everything, regardless of spend, it really puts me off ordering unless it's a bulk one.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 14/01/2022 14:55

An empty from me:

Olaplex No.3 - honestly, I don’t get it. I could neither see or feel a difference. I won’t be repurchasing anytime soon.

daisyjgrey · 14/01/2022 15:13

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName

I think it depends on the condition of your hair to start with and which other products you use with it. My daughter wasn't bothered either but her hair is untouched and not damaged, it makes a difference to mine but it's had years of bleaching/dying/heat on it. I notice when I use generic shampoo/conditioner etc.

At least it saves you £26 on another bottle though! Grin

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 14/01/2022 17:35

Thanks @daisyjgrey

I think I was expecting miracles at that price and none were forthcoming!

Purpleavocado · 14/01/2022 17:38

I really need to use up some of my stash!
So far I've finished a Nuddy soap which smelt lovely. I think it was grapefruit. Also, the small size of one of the Beautypie perfumes. I've replaced it with the lage size as DH loves it on me.

This weeks empties

L'occitane body shower oil - this is nice but I much prefer their shower gels.
L'occitane night cream - alright, but nothing special, definitely wouldn't buy it.
Origins ginger hand lotion - great smell fresh and citrusy. Quite light for a hand cream, I used it on my body as well and really liked it.
Amika intense bond repair hair mask - I really like this, left my hair feeling gorgeous - got another one waiting to go.
Goldfaden MD bright eyes - loved this, I think this may be my new favourite eye cream, got a few to use up, but once they are gone I'll be getting this.

MidnightMeltdown · 14/01/2022 22:52

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName

I completely agree re. Olaplex. It's a total faff to use and makes absolutely no difference at all to my hair either. I was expecting a lot more considering the price

I guess that it's for people with very damaged hair

Justilou1 · 15/01/2022 05:49

Another empty… (I’m on a roll!) A bottle of Purito I’m From Green Cleansing Oil. It’s great. Cheap, undetectable scent. Lovely, slippy texture and it does the job. I still prefer the Muji because it’s cheaper and has a slightly thinner consistency, but I would buy it again for traveling as the bottle is smaller. Definitely preferable to the Shu Uemura.

AprilLady · 16/01/2022 10:10

I’m one of the Olaplex fans. Olaplex 0 was a complete faff and didn’t do much, but I really rate 3 and 8. My hair isn’t coloured, but I do use straighteners often so it is heat damaged.

AprilLady · 16/01/2022 10:21

Quite a good week for empties:

MZ Skin smooth and soothe eye cream This is a thick eye cream, but absorbs beautifully and has really helped the winter under eye dryness. It’s probably the best product I’ve tried from the brand, and sadly didn’t last as long as most eye creams do. I’ve another in the stash from a gift set, but it’s too £££ to RP. @Justilou1, I need your expertise in finding a cheap dupe for this!

Bobby Brown corrector. A make up empty for a change. This is an HG product for me, great at concealing dark circles. Have RP.

Elemis cleansing balm Still love this. Does 50ml count as sample or full sized?

Lancome eye cleanser. Fine - I can’t tell the difference between this and cheaper Boots versions, so wouldn’t pay up for it.

L’Occitane Face cream. From the M&S 2018 advent I opened. Was still in perfect condition and I enjoyed using this, but probably wouldn’t repurchase.

Weleda bath milk Fine. Quite liked the scent, but not in the same category as the AA oils or Olverum.

Sunday Riley Vit C serum Too small a sample to be able to tell if it did much.

So 4 full size, 5 travel size empties this week.

Total for the year so far: 6 full, 9 travel size.

First time I tried Olaplex it made my hair feel amazing, like silk, and the effect lasted through at least another wash. Since then it hasn't had the same impact so I've not bothered for a while, must try again when I have enough time.

Today's empty is a little sample tube of Murad vita-c triple exfoliating facial. Big enough for several uses. Does make skin feel lovely and smooth after it's washed off, and I'd happily have another , but it's likely to be £££ so I'm unlikely to try again.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 16/01/2022 12:20

Sample size Amie hydrating moisturiser finished. This was quite old which may have effected the effectiveness but I have not found it very hydrating so would not repurchase.

MidnightMeltdown · 16/01/2022 14:07

Only two empties for me this week:

5) L'Oréal Elivive Dream Lengths Conditioner: Perfectly fine, nothing special. Bought a value bulk pack to use during the first lockdown when I wasn't going anywhere and still trying to get through them!

6) Elemis Marine Cream: This is a nice moisturiser but I really dislike the scent. It has a really strong, synthetic, cheap perfume scent which I find surprising for quite a pricey cream. There's something I find it a bit disconcerting about having something so artificial smelling sinking into my face. I have more of this in the stash from various beauty boxes, which I will use, but I wouldn't pay the full price for it.

Total empties for the year: 6/125

On a plus my skin seems to have recovered from Christmas indulgence and that awful L'occtaine moisturiser that was in the M&S calendar.

clary · 16/01/2022 20:48

Well done all on the January empties!
Quite a few for me but I think I have been saving up or maybe making an effort!
2 x elemis samples - I love the moisturiser already but the eye cream was new to me and I really like it. May RP.
Weleda lavender bath milk - I love this, it was a requested Christmas gift and I have already finished it yay.
Ayumi body wash from DD's 2020 H&B AC - not amazing but has lasted well (been in my swimming bag for ages).
Bubbly eye gels from CB AC - nice enough
REN day cream from M&S leftovers - not nice, too heavy, used up as body cream
Calm shower wash from M&S - nice smell
Lumene micellar water from 2020 AC - OK
Gallinee face vinegar - decided I like this which is good as I have another bottle to use from F&M I think :)

Not a bad haul

Experiment627 · 17/01/2022 13:20

Oh @clary I adored the Ayumi tumeric body wash thing - the smell was divine!

Ok so if you see record revenue this year for Boots, you will know I played a major part!! I spent so much cachinga 🙈🙈🙈 all I can say is I got some freebies too so was worth going in person.

The Covent Garden flagship shop is not all that... but was nice and empty ~at 9am~

Oooh I like Liz Earle. It's been a long time since I bought any though. I'm still trying to use up the super skin night concentrate that I got as a gwp last time I bought LE. It's very nice, I just don't use oils very often.

I also liked the Ayumi body wash. In fact I prefer it to the more expensive Noble Isle ones that Fortnum and Mason keep dishing out in advent calendars.

Experiment627 · 18/01/2022 09:44

Reporting two empties:

  • Tesco Fred & Flo head to toe wash: actually been using this to wash my hair!!! And it works surprisingly well! Although have to out a conditioner on after. But no increased oil.
-Odylique organic soothing salve: my mum bought this for Kwicklet but I have not used on him (his eczema is so much better now) and it needed using up so I have used on my legs and tummy. Basically a solidified oil that returns to oil situation once warm. Not a massive fan of the smell.

Also two items going to be passed on to SIL:

  • Garnier Ultimate Blends honey treasures shampoo & conditioner: the shampoo caused my scalp to be irritated, the conditioner is nice.

Justilou1 · 18/01/2022 15:53

@AprilLady - why do you use a separate eye cream? If you have a decent serum/essence, you shouldn’t need a thick, heavy moisturiser on your face. I looked at your MZ eye cream and it’s a pretty standard hyaluronic acid & peptide formula with albiizia bark extract. That last one is an antioxidant. There are so many of them out there (probably much more effective too.) The Paula’s Choice one looks pretty fab, but frankly I’d add one with a retinol too. There is one by Neutrogena and a new one by L’Oreal (looks less irritating, tbh.) Otherwise, I’d get all the “treatments” in essence form and shove them right up to the eyes and then whack on your refularn(simple) moisturiser. (My current skincare is Hada Labo Shirojyun Essence, Tretinoin, Melano C Concentrate & Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream.)

PomRuns · 18/01/2022 16:08

@Caggie09 is that a diptych candle ?!
I wish I’d signed up now.

Caggie09 · 18/01/2022 16:13

@PomRuns oh that didnt come with it, i wish!! Hoping one day they sneak a mini one in there!
