Newbie joining here... Have just been gifted a load of Elemis stuff for my birthday and have realised I can't justify opening ANY of it until I've worked through my frankly ridiculous stash of stuff. Also terrible for going "ooh shiny" at the bath and body are aisle whilst having a bathroom full of half used stuff which promptly gets shelved when I get excited to open and use the new stuff. So far I have very nearly got to the end of a massive bottle of Tigi shampoo and the matching conditioner. I reckon I can finish the bottle of Maui shower gel before the end of the week too. Halfway through a bottle of Superfacialist cleansing oil and about 2/3 of the way through a bottle of Drops of Youth serum from the body shop. I WILL clear out some of this stuff and use it up and opening the Elemis stuff will be my reward at the end of it all (We won't talk about the fact that I've just been looking at the Lacura serums from Aldi! 🙈)

PomRuns · 19/10/2021 13:02

Hello everyone.

I’ve started to buyer smaller showers gels so I don’t get bored, maybe I need a hobby 😳

syrene power masque - think this was in Liberty AC last year - nice but not worth £15

Aurelia glow serum - don’t think it did anything.

aromatherapy associates de stress muscle gel. Certainly seems to help my dodgy shoulder. Nice fragrance, a possible repurchase.

SocksAndTheCity · 19/10/2021 13:52

Empties!

Original Source mango shower gel (smells nice but drying, although I'm not short of body lotions)
Olaplex 0 I always use this with Olaplex 3, and I keep meaning to try without it some time to remind myself how much difference it actually makes, but I've RP for now anyway.
Verso night cream with retinol really liked this - not too light but not too greasy and heavy. Will likely RP once have got through some of the others.
Fresh rose moisturiser not quite as lovely as the Chantecaille one from the Liberty box, but a lot cheaper and I've never bought a Fresh product I didn't like (the kombucha face essence stuff is my favourite)
AB face oil sample from the Liberty box - really liked this and I have a big bottle in my stash somewhere Smile

I am gradually getting through it, even if all I'm really doing is making space for the advent calendar stuff Grin

Welcome @MrsWidgerysLodger - fab name - I bet there is a story behind that!

I too have been eyeing up Lacura oils!!

I have some empties:

  • The Ordinary lactic acid 1o% + HA: this was fine... not wowed.
  • Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glow skin perfecting booster: nice on but not sure what it did to perfect my skin
  • Odylique ultra rich balm: just a sample - enough for two applications if used on my legs post shower... too oily/gunky for me
OP posts:
JunieSpoony · 19/10/2021 14:09

Please don't mention advent calendars Grin! I am in Canada and the choices here are not great unless I want to pay for shipping and possible customs fees (imagine if I got charged duties on the actual prices of everything. Yikes!)

@SocksAndTheCity, I am trying Olaplex 3 for the first time as I type, with a bottle of 0 in my basket...

Can anyone recommend a good lip balm? I've been using Burts Bees for years because I got fed up of the other kinds making me to apply them more and more often. But I think something with a little more moisture and a little exfoliation might be nice.

Please tell me if there is a different thread for asking for recommendations!

Name is obscure Terry Pratchett reference. I've also just clicked on what your username is derived from and I love it. I may justify the serums from Aldi as it's the one thing I don't actually have in my stash...

MackemLass79 · 19/10/2021 15:04

Been away for a few days nowhere exciting just not at home or near my drama filled young adult dds so that works as a break for me 🤣🤣😂😂😂 jobs, friendships, bfs, needing to look the part bah all that drama why do we always want to be young again seems a minefield to me if I'm honest haha. Anyway I digress....I'm just catching up with the thread and @SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace I've just followed u. I currently have 2 perfumes I'm determined to finish one is Jimmy choo flash and one is a cheapy body shop white musk tho I have I would say approx 30 more perfumes to go at. Anyone else take ages to finish a perfume?

JunieSpoony · 19/10/2021 15:28

@MackemLass79 I'm still working on an Eau par Kenzo that I must have had for ten years (didn't wear it for ages while BF). Massive bottle, probably doesn't linger at all but I love that brief moment of smell when I spray it. I didn't know you could still buy White Musk!

Experiment627 · 19/10/2021 16:57

@JunieSpoony I shall try not to mention advents... but will probably fail...soz!
For lip balms - have you tried the Laniege sleep mask one? My HG is Eucerin/Aquaphor active lip repair.

@MrsWidgerysLodger I love your justification for Lacura... I may use same argument!
I LOVE that you were curious about my username!

I’m in the middle of a perfume drought. I don’t have a scent I love. I have a few bottles that I’m working through, but I don’t LOVE them.

Any new inspiration would be appreciated.

I don’t suit the Chanel perfumes (no idea why).
I hate anything orange, vanilla or coconut scented.
I used to really like ‘Wings’ but tried it recently and it smelled so dated.

Experiment627 · 19/10/2021 21:04

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName my favourite perfume is Stella by Stella McCartney. I keep on hearing it will be discontinued.., really hope it is not! I have resisted urge to stash a tonne away 😇

AprilLady · 19/10/2021 22:06

You will all probably not be surprised to discover I have plenty of perfumes too, and quite a number on the go at once. They’re the one thing I don’t feel I have to make an effort to finish though; I like having a good choice of what I want to wear each day, and would be sad to run out of a favourite.

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName, John Lewis are doing a virtual November beauty fragrance event. Tickets are £15, and for that you get sent a load of samples that will be discussed at the event. There are still tickets available to some - I think the sample sets for both the Festive and Lisa Potter events would be a good way to try out some new perfumes.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 19/10/2021 22:24

I wear perfume every work day although don’t tend to reapply as the day goes on.

Thank you for the John Lewis suggestion, unfortunately we don’t have JL in NI. Perhaps a good thing considering my spending habits when I visit the mainland!

Every time I’m in Boots I try a few new perfumes but still haven’t found the ‘right’ one yet. Of course I never remember the names so, knowing me, I’m probably just trying the same 3 over and over again.

WellTidy · 19/10/2021 22:38

Thank you for the feedback on the dyson hairdryer. I am going to ask for it for Christmas, or save up my boots points! I used to buy loads in Boots, and would aim to have £100 worth of points to spend on myself after Christmas ever year. I normally well exceeded it, but I’m really low on points this year. I will have to restock on bits and pieces when they do an extra points offer in the run up to Christmas.

An empty: Garnier micellar water with the pink cap, a bumper 700ml. My HG so I have another ready to go.

Also one pad away from finishing a huge packet of cotton pads. DH bought the small round ones instead of the more useful big oval ones when he was trying to be helpful, so I’m glad to be finishing them up.

Ponks · 19/10/2021 23:16

@JunieSpoony I'd second the recommendation for the LaNeige lip sleeping mask, I got one after @Justilou1 and @Experiment627 were discussing them upthread, and yes they are lovely. Doesn't last long on me but lips feel so soft.

Hello to all the new faces , look forward to hearing all your empties and recommendations!

I have finally finished a Clinique black honey lipstick. Not wearing lipstick so much these days, just a touch when in the office. More into lip balms now.

Justilou1 · 20/10/2021 00:19

@Ponks - Black Honey was my one and only lip look right through the 90’s! (Other than when I was working and had to wear what I was told.) I swear it suits virtually everyone! Such a classic and so comfortable. How odd that I wore it for so many years and I had entirely forgotten about what was once such a dear friend! (Am in more of a Gold-based tan/nude phase now as my skin tone has changed anyway. Pretty sure purple of any shade now makes me look like I need a liver transplant.)

Justilou1 · 20/10/2021 00:21

@JunieSpoony - about the lip mask… Are you possibly applying too much? I find it lasts forever if it’s applied in a very, very thin layer. (Also checking you bought the pot, not the tube - the tube is meh. Might as well get the Elf one.)

JunieSpoony · 20/10/2021 01:58

Thanks for the lip recommendations! I might have to try both to compare. Just for scientific purposes, you know...

JunieSpoony · 20/10/2021 02:16

Justilou, I think it was Ponks with the lip mask not lasting long, but I note the recommendation to avoid the pot Smile

I have a sort of cheat empty today. DD abandoned her half-empty winter candy apple shower gel from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I nobly decided to use it up (it’s very sweet) and was pleased to discover that it was actually only water. One of the kids must have been using it as a bath toy.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 20/10/2021 06:51

Welli may be destashing but I've "accidentally" signed up for a free tube of the Dr Botanical Pomegranate sleep mask and bought the Aldi serums. On my defence I have neither of these is my current stash drawer...

supadupapupascupa · 20/10/2021 08:24

Medic8 c-tetra
I really like this stuff because it smells like sweets!! No idea if it does anything much but it does seem to smooth my skin and make it fragrant. I have other vit-c in my stash but once I've used up I would RP

Justilou1 · 20/10/2021 10:36

@JunieSpoony - sorry! Although you need to avoid the tube and buy the pot!!! The pot is the bomb!

PomRuns · 20/10/2021 22:39

Ah black honey - still wear it and like it a lot. Plus have loads as a SA told me it was being discontinued and I believed her. Her sales were extra good that day 😳
