Do you like the curated ear look?

And if you do, where do you normally buy your flat back earrings from?

I have this kind of thing and like really small earrings though I'm quite bored with what I have now and looking for some ideas!

This seems like the thread to ask how the hell you put those bloody labrets in? Whether it's the push kind or the screw kind they're too small for my sausage fingers and I can't do it. I love my many ear piercings but am totally unable to put those in.

ferretface · 03/08/2021 10:41

Metier by tomfoolery!!! Absolutely love their earrings

Formaldeheidi · 03/08/2021 10:42

I thought this was just called piercing addiction. I feel all superior now Grin

I love Regalrose.

AleynEivlys · 03/08/2021 11:38

@Chachachawoo The guy who does my ears said he had a migraine sufferer come in for a daith who actually had a migraine starting at that point, which then didn't progress following the piercing. Not sure how much of that was just some sort of placebo effect though! Some people claim daith piercings sorted their migraines, while for others it makes no difference at all.

I'm not especially a headache sufferer and only got my daith piercing because I love how it looks, so I have nothing to offer really. I don't think anything has changed for me headache-wise since I got it.

AleynEivlys · 03/08/2021 11:41

@Rockbird I can usually do it, though I find my tragus pretty difficult as it has to go in from the back. You can go to a piercing studio and they will change tricky earrings for you. They have specialist pliers for the job!

tsmainsqueeze · 03/08/2021 11:44

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor

I'm old, we all had curated ears in the 80s, who knew ?Grin
Just what i was thinking ! Feel quite chuffed that i did the 'curated' look 1st time round !
greenzeppelin · 03/08/2021 11:52

How ridiculous. Always had ears like that !

Now it has some pretentious name?

Chachachawoo · 03/08/2021 11:54

Thank you @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor and @AleynEivlys

Saved me time, money and a sore ear.
Plus am quite vanilla ear jewellery wise so could have looked a bit try hard

LoganRoy · 03/08/2021 11:59

I loved a curated ear, even if it’s a silly term! Sadly my ears are quite small and I can’t fit a lot on there.

Herecomesthesun70 · 03/08/2021 12:08

@CloseYourEyesAndSee

'Curated ear' is the term invented by expensive jewellery companies when they saw a gap in the market, for 40 plus women who have loads of holes in our ears from the 90s and no longer want to wear the 'hoops of descending size' look or 'random CND or yin yang earrings bought from the market' look My extra holes were empty for over a decade and I got some nose studs on eBay that I used to fill them as I don't have a Maria tash budget!
😂😂
LordOfTheThings · 03/08/2021 12:13

Just ordered a couple of studs from Laura Bond, they're exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for so thank you for the recommendation.

KombuchaKrisis · 03/08/2021 12:38

I'm absolutely obsessed with Maria tash and have just one hole to fill until I'll be happy I've finished. I am lucky though that my best friend works there so I get crazy discount!!!

The best bit (and I cringe at myself typing this) is having a stylist help curate the ear. It's really quite fascinating how everyone's ear is so different and they encourage piercing placement in ear quirks and folds which are unique to yourself. Ha I should be banned from MN for typing that.

Zelvinka · 03/08/2021 12:42

Lots of my colleagues in healthcare have this look & I love it but I've only had my ears pierced twice myself & I've had enough trouble with those piercings, so won't be getting any more.
I usually wear 2 pairs of earrings eg 2 pairs of studs for work or a pair of studs with a pair of hoops out of work.

Reallyreallyborednow · 03/08/2021 12:46

Love a curated ear, a pink lip, and a straight jean

Do you have a smoky eye to go with that?

I’m very literal and the mental imagery conjured up is …..interesting.

Stichintime · 03/08/2021 12:47

This thread is worrying me for some reason!

Why?

Grin

At least we weren’t pretentious about it then, don’t know about you but we just called them holes 😂

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/08/2021 13:07

MadisonAvenue I know Grin They were what we did with a needle and a bottle of surgical spirit when we wanted to piss off our parents !

YerAWizardHarry · 03/08/2021 13:10

Why does using a phrase coined about a trend make it pretentious? The OP was asking for advice about something specific and has had some fantastic replies from people. MN really has become toxic, I thought mummy Facebook groups were bad Hmm

LordOfTheThings · 03/08/2021 13:23

@YerAWizardHarry thank you, I just ignore all that bollocks anyway, I've been kicking around these boards long enough to not bother about digs from some posters. It's usually the same ones anyway.

I got the help I was looking for though, some great recommendations. Smile

TabithaTiger · 03/08/2021 13:37

I love that look! There's loads of idea on Pinterest.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 03/08/2021 13:38

I bloody love it, I have similar and get a lot of earings from etsy.

Brogues · 03/08/2021 13:41

Poor OP so many spiteful responses when people could just go onto another thread. It’s been known as a curated ear for a good few years now.

Someone mentioned regal rose which I like. Pinch and fold have a massive selection so I can’t make my mind up and order anything! I tend to just get mine from eBay - some work out some don’t but it’s fun trying.

Stichintime · 03/08/2021 13:48

Not sure why camperjam. Probably cos I'm a bit screamish when it comes to doing stuff that hurts. Grin

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 03/08/2021 13:49

From a normal distance I think ears like this can look great but close-up photos of piercings make me squirm for some reason — I just think ‘ow, injured flesh’ 😣

But I used to work with gruesome medical imagery so that’s probably influencing my response.
