They are dreadful, not flattering even on the models. However I could never wear the orange ones even when skinny as I carry all my weight on my thighs.

Graciebobcat · 07/04/2021 19:16

Exactly. My shorts keep for ages, they only come out in very warm weather (so get hardly worn!)

OverByYer · 07/04/2021 19:26

Yes I’ve got shorts at least 10 years old that I drag out year after year and some years don’t wear at all thanks to our wonderful climate

Fashio · 07/04/2021 20:44

@TheBullfinch

Why do men never have to suffer the indignity of 'fashion' every year? They just get normal clothes, well made, classic designs, at reasonable prices. We get asymmetric hems, cold shoulders, puff sleeves, cut outs, pie collars, flounces and flares! All in polyester. Why?
Bully. It’s fashio
Fashio · 07/04/2021 20:45

@Graciebobcat

If shorts are tight and have no give, they will squash your legs and be uncomfortable no matter how "lithe" your legs are.

And the only way I'd have gazelle legs is with a muscle-wasting illness.

Gracie. My legs are sensssssational. Don’t worry! 😘

I am a fashio.
I have wonderful legs, one of the wonders of the world.
I love Tesco shorts.

NellietheNumpty · 08/04/2021 16:43

Ode to Tesco shorts.
You keep my fanjo safe when I sit in nettles
You never ever fuss if I lie in the petals
You are not fickle
You only cost a nickel.
My Tesco shorts.

Fashio · 08/04/2021 17:09

Seriously? I’ll look. Ta

OverByYer · 08/04/2021 17:55

Oh I like the striped ones

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 08/04/2021 18:04

I was coming on to recommend Uniqlo shorts but then I had a look at their website and soMerging awful has befallen them too.

I have some from a few years ago that were great but my once lovely legs look like they're made out of cottage cheese now so I avoid wearing them 😩

MostIneptThatEverStepped · 08/04/2021 18:04

Something *

Batshittery · 08/04/2021 18:54

Bully. It’s fashio

🤣🤣

Daisy829 · 08/04/2021 19:12

Every year I try and fail to find flattering shorts for my wobbly legs & tum. I’m going to try a few of these recommendations. I like the look of the hush chinos.

MargosKaftan · 08/04/2021 20:29

Ooh, tesco shorts are good and look a lot more expensive on than they are.

I think shorts can be avoided this year. We're not getting a Mediterranean holiday, so skirts of less thigh exposing lengths are fine for a UK trip.

LaureBerthaudMaisOui · 08/04/2021 21:50

Daisy, the Hush chinos come up small

Everything comes up big in Hush apart from those Grin

Daisy829 · 08/04/2021 21:54

@LaureBerthaudMaisOui disappointing. The reviews say they come up big. I was hoping to fool myself that the lockdown wine & crisps haven’t done as much damage as they have

Fashio · 08/04/2021 22:05

Huge lolz at fashio

AnnieSnap · 08/04/2021 22:49

I like the new cargo shorts (shuffles away cringing) Shock

Fairyliz · 08/04/2021 23:01

£70!!! Who pays that for shorts?

LaureBerthaudMaisOui · 09/04/2021 07:58

Maybe they changed

Last year they came up tiny compared to other shorts

someonelockthefridgealready · 09/04/2021 09:11

I love spring and summer in Style and Beauty, when we all tear into each other over shorts and sandals. I scroll through tutting at all the suggestions that I believe to be hideous, while sitting here wearing my Sainsbury pyjamas. There's so few "safe spaces" to be truly judgmental these days Grin

You could just ignore it and wear what suits you. I've never cared what length of skirt or shorts werw in fashion

We cant though, because the middle of the clothing retail world has been stripped out. Now it's either MaxMara / Jill Sander or Primark / H&M.
Nothing in between (well, very little and what's there is polyester, even if the lace and ruffles have been left off.

As for men's fashion, yes I know it exists but again, only at the lower end and for younger men (under 30). You dont see many over forties dressed like they're on Towie or MIC.

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 11/04/2021 14:36

Try buying a dress that’s NOT a little-house-on-the-prairie dress Grin

All dresses are floral and baggy and have puff sleeves

It’s very hard to go against the grain

peak2021 · 11/04/2021 16:25

Agree with you OP about the analogy. Tesco may be your friend here- every little helps!!!
