Ive been using boots advanced serum for the past few weeks and i have to admit that im a bit disappointed so far! My skin doesn't look that much different than when i started! What serums actually work on a 40year old . I thought id be all glowy by now but I look as patchy and grey as i usually do in the winter 🤣

I can't swear by all The Ordinary products. I have tried Matrixyl and Buffet and found them both to have an odd consistency and both made my skin blotchy and itchy.

StepOutOfLine · 02/03/2021 21:13

Rosehip oil can apparently cause an increase in facial hair.
I've hated every Ordinary product I've ever used, which is a shame as I love the price!

FreshFaceTime · 02/03/2021 22:06

Eeek... I have a pregnancy-induced peachy face at the moment - might have to give the rosehip oil a miss till I'm safely out the other side (that'll be when my hair starts falling out in clumps!)

woodhill · 02/03/2021 22:10

Is that the same as rose oil, how frustrating

I used the Judith ...one from QV C

Promptly off to throw my rosehip oil in the bin...

@FreshFaceTime

Holy fuck - I applied this stuff 50 minutes ago and my skin already feels amazing!!
Really? Really really? I'm so happy for you. Mine arrived today too and I've just slathered it on, feeling so happy to be reunited with my former love.

I'm now lying back with a silk eyemask ready to be slipped on so i can relax and let the DS do its thing.

I'm also expecting a delivery from Beauty Pie and Glossier tomorrow so i fully expect to look like a 25 year old goddess by the weekend. 🙏🏻.

Peaches, if you don't have sensitive skin you'll probably be fine for daily use with thr toner, but best take it easy for the first few days just to be sure. Hope you like it!

StepOutOfLine · 03/03/2021 06:48

Rosehip isn't the same as rose, no. Grin
I used my rosehip for the first time in ages last night (my god the smell is minging) but topped it up with rose (thought I'd not sleep with the rancid stink coming off me otherwise)
I hadn't read about rosehip-retinol before. Interesting.
I hope my youth-in-a-bottle arrives soon!

Frankinmachine · 03/03/2021 10:49

Has anyone tried any M&S serum? Thinking that I might add one to my Ocado deliver for tomorrow.....

woodhill · 03/03/2021 11:24

Thanks - Do other products cause more facial hair, mine has been more apparent since I went through menopause ☹️

FreshFaceTime · 05/03/2021 20:33

@curlytops21 loving the Clarins serum so far. My skin feels so soft! Very glad I saw your sales pitch post on this thread!

Well it was rather a reluctant pitch as i was fighting a losing battle against myself. I knew how good it was but it's a bit spendy too. However, i am glad we went for it and that you're liking it. My skin is positively glowing - someone actually commented on my glow in a teams call today! Not even joking. That's how good it is.

FreshFaceTime · 05/03/2021 21:11

I haven't noticed a glow yet but I stupidly put some tan on my face the day before it arrived so need that to wear off before I can tell the difference between tan and glow! Definitely feels lovely though. I use cheap moisturiser so I don't mind spending more on other stuff. I'm already expecting to upgrade to the 50ml when I run out of this one Grin

Iceskatingfan · 05/03/2021 21:15

It’s pricey but Elizabeth Arden prevage serum makes my skin look absolutely amazing. If you can’t afford that then their Good Morning Skin primer (rather than serum) is also great as are the ceramics capsule oil things (promise I don’t work for them, hmmm maybe I should 😂). And it’s not a serum it’s a primer but I do find that Smashbox photo finish also makes my skin look great.

Iceskatingfan · 05/03/2021 21:15

Ceramide not ceramics!!

bimbimbap · 06/03/2021 00:12

not a “useful” serum as such but for purely decorative effect, glossier future dew is excellent!

I have also been and and found this set on John Lewis if anyone is interested.

25yearsnhsworker · 06/03/2021 07:09

I meant I have also been sold!!

Would this ebay one be to good to be true?

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Clarins-Double-Serum-50ml-Complete-Age-Control-Concentrate-Firming-Anti-Aging-/363309700052?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292

Is there such a thing as fake cosmetics? Asking for a friend!!

FreshFaceTime · 06/03/2021 07:34

That John Lewis set is the price of the serum alone on other sites - looks good value (especially if you've used them all before and know you like them!)

Not sure about eBay. Could be fake? Could be stolen? I'd have a look at the seller reviews for any clues. The price for 50ml is about £70+ so that price does seem too good to be true... tempting as it is...

25yearsnhsworker · 06/03/2021 08:03

I have ordered the JL one there is also a 50ml set for 78.00 but I wanted to try the micellar water in the 30ml set.

FreshFaceTime · 06/03/2021 08:15

Yes I saw the 50ml set too - great value!

BlueSussex · 06/03/2021 13:13

Ooh I had to buy the JL set too.

Bloody enablers!!

afrikat · 06/03/2021 13:44

My skin looks amazing after starting a regime with The Ordinary products. The main ones I think made the difference are The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution weekly and daily use of The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and the 100% Rosehip oil

penelopepittastopp · 06/03/2021 14:59

@afrikat The Ordinary peeling solution, is that the red one? I bought some during the first lockdown but am too scared to use it incase my face peels off 😄

afrikat · 06/03/2021 15:32

Yes its the red one. I was scared too but did a patch test first then followed the instructions to the letter (clean dry skin, no longer than 10 minutes) and it works beautifully. My skin is soooo soft and smooth after using it

penelopepittastopp · 06/03/2021 15:52

Thanks @afrikat I'm going to try it tomorrow then. I have read very good reviews so fingers crossed that my face doesn't peel off.
