Ive been using boots advanced serum for the past few weeks and i have to admit that im a bit disappointed so far! My skin doesn't look that much different than when i started! What serums actually work on a 40year old . I thought id be all glowy by now but I look as patchy and grey as i usually do in the winter 🤣
@curlytops21 So would you use your clarins and the cheapo lidl vit C in the morning or just swap the clarins in? Have absolutely no idea what I'm doing so never sure when to add and when to substitute. I'm thinking of saving it for night as I don't have a serum that I already use at night. But might swap to morning after a week or so if no sign of that miracle... Grin

@MintyCedric have had my eye on that too but really need to show some restraint having frittered away far too much during lockdown sprees - going to use up a few other bits first and treat myself to that as a reward!
No I currently swap around the vitamin thingy and my avene serum in the morning. Sometimes i use both as the vitamin thing isn't officially a serum I don't think.

When my new liquid gold arrives i will cleanse, tone, double serum and moisturise in the morning. At night I'll cleanse, maybe tone and use another serum.

However, I'm not an expert at all, so i might switch it around per the other suggestions here. It is a very nice product to use at night too as it's super hydrating.

@MintyCedric

Clarins Lotus treatment oil for combination skin.

I don't use it daily but when I do I always get compliments on my skin.

Absolutely love the Clarins oils too. They are really lush. However, I have to say that i don't use them as often now that i regularly use serums. I find a good moisturising serum has the same effect on my skin plus i get the glow.

The lotus / blue orchid oils smell amazing though and they are nice to use before bed.

FreshFaceTime · 26/02/2021 23:05

I think I'm going to hang around on this thread for tips on how to get the most out of it...

I just use a clinique bar soap in the shower in the morning but think most people cleanse AM and PM

Wineloffa · 27/02/2021 15:32

Another Double Serum fan here. It’s amazing!!

woodhill · 27/02/2021 16:41

I like facial oils and sometimes massage in before a face mask at night

luckylavender · 27/02/2021 16:45

Liz Earle

TaraR2020 · 27/02/2021 17:32

Yes, I cleanse morning and evening. Some mornings I only use a cream cleanser in the shower but my skin does like it when I follow up with an oil based micellar water.

I have samples of the lotus and blue orchid clarins facial oils, I was honestly about to chuck them yesterday because I've never used them but you lot have inspired me to give them a go!

My skin seems to be quite porous though and I'm always amazed at how much it absorbs through the day (not necessarily grime, but even a touch of concealer seems to sink in deeply!)

JemimaMuddledUp · 27/02/2021 21:49

I've been using the Balance Me Vitamin C serum.

I use a rinse off cleanser in the shower in the morning, and then in the evening take my make up off with miscellar water then use a cleansing balm with a hot cloth. I also use Pixi toner at night after cleansing and before the serum and night cream.

Caramelwhispers · 27/02/2021 21:59

Also drink loads of water, cut down on sugar, carbs & caffeine. It makes a huge difference on the texture & look of your skin.

TaraR2020 · 28/02/2021 00:14

@JemimaMuddledUp what cleansing balm do you use, please?

Inforapenny65 · 28/02/2021 02:58

I use Estee Lauder but I recently discovered a vitamin E faceoil and a serum (both for under a tenner) brilliant...I chop and change with EL....Iv also found Origins to be good.

Currently this one from M&S.

teaandcake22 · 28/02/2021 08:40

Clarins double serum and I've also started to use their beauty flash balm, after moisturising. It really does brighten.

PeacheyPeach · 02/03/2021 13:09

My Superdrug glycolic toner has just come in the post. So will start using that tonight, hope that it will start making a difference. Should i use this everyday from now or every other day so my skin can get used to it?

My clarins double serum arrived today. Looking forward to applying it this evening and looking 10 years younger by the morning Grin

I'd start every other day and ease in. I use it morning because I use retinol on an evening and I remember reading you shouldn't mix them!
FreshFaceTime · 02/03/2021 19:52

Holy fuck - I applied this stuff 50 minutes ago and my skin already feels amazing!!

StepOutOfLine · 02/03/2021 20:00
Grin I thought mine had come earlier but it was perfume I'd heard from MN was being discontinued so I snaffled it off eBay.

I don't cleanse in the morning, I know I should but...I sometimes wipe a pad with Liz Earle toner over my face and you'd be surprised how much muck does come off!

Melange99 · 02/03/2021 20:21

My Clarins DS came yesterday. I am not using until Thursday in case I react. I am not working on Friday so if I end up with a red face it has time to settle. It sounds promising.

medebourne · 02/03/2021 20:36

The Ordinary Vit C plus HA has made a huge, really huge difference to the look of my skin. I have actually stopped wearing concealer and foundation recently as my skin has such a healthy looking colour and glow.

I know that sounds like advertising, but it's true. I'm 58 and have tried just about everything over the years in all price ranges and this has made the biggest difference. I use The Ordinary Rose Hip seed oil in the morning and Vit C+HA in the evening.

Also, The Ordinary is cheap!

bonfireheart · 02/03/2021 21:10

Am jealous of anyone who is able to use The Ordinary without side effects. I got caught up in the hype a few years ago and it made my skin worse. And totally convinced that their Buffet product caused me to grow facial hair on my chin when I'd never had any before, a side effect that others have experienced too.
