Hello all. I had Invisalign fitted today and would love some positive stories about how quickly I'm going to get used to them because at the moment I'm thinking this may have been a very expensive mistake!

I drink white wine and weak squash with them in, coffee and red wine through a straw. Don't try drinking red wine with them in - they get quite messy!

My gums bled a little bit right at the start but not since then - maybe ask your dentist about that?

I've seen my dentist once since they were fitted and have another appointment in a couple of weeks then the next one should be it. Every 2 weeks is good service!

How's everyone doing? I'm on week 10 and really noticing a difference now.

westr · 27/03/2021 15:33

I've got 5 weeks to go! I'm really noticing the difference but have to say I'm finding this current aligner (no. 10) the most painful of all!

Hi Everyone, I'm really keen to get my 50 year old gnashers sorted out, they are really crooked and the front and gappy at the back. Can you help quickly?
Is invisalign the cheapest most effective option? I don't really want to spend a fortune on getting them done as am meant to be saving for my retirement!
What are the benefits versus the normal wire braces?
The dentist said I wouldn't need any teeth removed.
Thanks in advance

Aftertheharvest · 01/04/2021 18:07

Hi @RoSEbuds6 my dentist gave me pros and cons of each option. For me Invisalign was quicker and less intrusive but will depend on your own situation.

FromEden · 01/04/2021 18:12

Invisalign is generally more expensive than normal braces so if cost is an issue maybe look into those instead? I also think braces work quicker and give more predictable results. I had braces as a teen and just didn't want to be bothered with them again so I loved the freedom Invisalign gave me to eat/drink whatever I wanted. And also the fact that they were barely noticeable, even with the attachments. Was all done within a year, I wear my retainer every night and love my teeth now. Shop around and see what they say, I would go with an orthodontist rather than a dentist and someone who has used Invisalign extensively.

Hi everyone. Some very useful comments on the thread
I'm about to start treatment and could possibly be moving house during the treatment.
Had anyone ever had to switch ortho during their treatment?

DripdripdroplittleAprilshowers · 18/04/2021 23:45

Does anyone have any before/after photos they'd be happy to share? I'm waiting for my invisalign and can't imagine myself with a nice smile!

BrightLyoness · 22/04/2021 14:28

@ThePawtriarchy I also have loads of fillings. One of mine goes down the back of the tooth and kind of sticks out. I've done some googling and the aligners look so tight and difficult to get off that I'm worried about it pulling that filling off. Do you have any like that and how have you found removing the aligners?

westr · 23/04/2021 21:15

I'm on my last aligner! I have to say that I've found the last few weeks much harder than the rest of the process. My mouth hurts quite a lot - maybe that's because subconsciously I know I'm almost done with them.

Great news @westr

I'm on 15 of 23 and then expecting some refinements. Finding mind tighter last couple of weeks but not sure if it's because I've had them out for slightly longer periods of time.

I'm so pleased with how mine look now so can't wait for final result Smile

DripdripdroplittleAprilshowers · 27/04/2021 18:36

Amazing @westr are you happy with the results?

@Aftertheharvest really pleased you're seeing great changes, i've had my scans today so probably still have quite a long time to wait before i get my aligners.

westr · 27/04/2021 20:07

Yes I am! I think I'll need a few more for the bottom teeth but the top teeth look great.

mimirouge · 27/04/2021 21:11

Here is a picture of my progress so far. Top is the start, bottom is wearing current tray (number 20). If you look closely you can see the buttons on the teeth. I actually prefer wearing the aligners to not wear them.

@mimirouge they look amazing! Your teeth are a really nice siz, they look fab already! My teeth are quite small so even when my teeth are straight, i still wont have that big beautiful smile. Can i ask what the buttons actually do?

Bumping is I had mine fitted today. How are you going OP?
westr · 09/10/2021 18:33

Hey, mine have been off since May! I'm generally very happy with the top teeth. The bottom teeth less so but I didn't get Invisalign to fix the bottom so I'm not that fussed. Looking back, definitely worth getting it done although I don't think I would have coped with them if we hadn't been in lockdown!

How are you getting on? It does get a lot easier after the first few weeks!
