Hello all. I had Invisalign fitted today and would love some positive stories about how quickly I'm going to get used to them because at the moment I'm thinking this may have been a very expensive mistake!

I just got my first tray fitted yesterday.
I only feel a slight pressure but I am already over the faff if removing them(which is a struggle)and then brushing and putting back in..so! I have had a few like warm cups of tea with them in(I'm a 6 or 7 cups a day gal)
My other weakness is white wine..would it be ok to drink this on a evening with them in?
I am considering just skipping lunch altogether as it's a pain for me to take out and clean whilst at work.

westr · 17/02/2021 13:43

I do!

Just wanted to add that they can get worse before they get better - they need to move some in order to bring them back straight so don't be alarmed by gaps opening etc. You should ask your provider for access to your Clincheck, this is an animation of how the teeth will move and really addictive to watch!

charliebear78 · 17/02/2021 19:54

Ordered a tool off Amazon to help remove the bloody things!
I have no pain but it is the removing and all the faffing that is driving me mad-Already!!!
I am eating a lot less though.
Tomorrow I shall be having a wine, with them in(rebel)

Meltinthemiddle · 20/02/2021 22:52

Hi just found this thread. I'm on day 2 and want to rip them out 🙈. I've not told anyone yet and so far no one has noticed although I'm lisping like mad and feel like every time I talk I'm playing the Speak out game 🙈. I've brought one of those tools to remove them. Can I ask do you remove the from the back first and work around? It's quite fiddly and I'm worried I will break them.

Aftertheharvest · 21/02/2021 08:17

Hang in there @Meltinthemiddle - first week is awful but then has been absolutely fine for me!

charliebear78 · 21/02/2021 10:01

I also feel like I am speaking quite oddly with them in.
I have ordered a tool but tbh not used it yet! I read a tip on removing them using a thin rubber glove-you can grab onto them much easier,I flick the back of each side up then pull off.
Sometimes they come away easy sometimes it is a bit harder to remove,I have attachments so they tend to cling in those areas.
I am sure it will get better for us...but the thought of months and months of this isn't really fun.

Touchitmoveit · 21/02/2021 10:03

I cried during my first week of having them as I thought I’d made the worst error ever.

But I found two days after my new set were in the teeth had already started to move to that set, and it got easier to take them in and out. The key is to use both fingers either side and click them out at same time- doing one side makes it hurt.

I did sound a bit lispy for a while but you do get used to it- and I always liked how it made my lips look fuller!

Meltinthemiddle · 21/02/2021 11:13

Thank you Touch that method has definitely helped!! Is it normal to wake up with really bad breath too?? I think where I'm drooling and producing more saliva it's getting trapped under the aligners so when I wake up breath isn't smelling too great 😬. I am so glad to have found this support group and to see its all normal. Like you guys I thought I had made a very expensive mistake 😭

Meltinthemiddle · 22/02/2021 17:25

Day 4 and my bottom teeth are definitely easing but top teeth are throbbing and making lisp. Back to work tomorrow so really hope it eases as I've been feeling proper sorry for myself the last few days. I dread taking them out to eat and then dread putting them back in 😭😭😭

westr · 22/02/2021 18:20

It took a couple of weeks for my lisp to completely go but it will go!

OP posts:
Mydarkside · 22/02/2021 20:37

Tray 5 and I still lisp but I've always had a very very slight lisp, it's obvious now though 🤦🏻‍♀️

Meltinthemiddle · 22/02/2021 21:53

Can I ask what option you went for? I have just joined the FB support group and some are on comprehensive and others are on lite. I didn't even realise there were different options. I've just looked at mine and I'm on lite so now I'm worried it won't be enough trays and they will sting me for extra money. I'm already dubious with dentists after bad experiences and they always seem so blazey about the cost of treatment.

Aftertheharvest · 22/02/2021 21:56

@Meltinthemiddle I'm on comprehensive but think it was fairly borderline. I was feeling opposite of you in that wondered if I've paid more than needed!

Yes completely. Im just annoyed they never gave me the option but I guess she must be fairly confident. I just don't to have started an expensive journey 😣

Mydarkside · 23/02/2021 13:43

Im on comprehensive , 23 trays
Comprehensive includes unlimited trays for 5 years
As far as I know lite includes 2 extra rounds of refinements and refinements could typically be another 10-15 trays

WaterBottle123 · 23/02/2021 16:23

Place marking, just got a quote for this today!

ThePawtriarchy · 23/02/2021 16:51

@viques more of my teeth have fillings than do not and it’s partly because of this I’m having it done. Straightening them to allowable to reach areas for cleaning more easily is part of why my dentist wants me to do it.

Meltinthemiddle · 24/02/2021 16:09

Exciting waterbottle. I'm finally beginning to get used to them and the pain is sunbsiding thank god!!! I've been eating 3 times a day so I'm not endlessly brushing my teeth but I've learnt to stock up in those 2 hours 😬😂😂

westr · 24/02/2021 22:15

I'm on aligner 7. One of my teeth feels like it's about to fall out!

OP posts:
charliebear78 · 25/02/2021 18:56

I have just changed to my 2nd aligner-It feels tighter and my teeth sort of ache( it isn't sore)
Though today I bit down on a toasted pitta bread and Och my teeth are so sensitive.
2/20.
I am quite scared of the wobbly tooth feeling a few of you have mentioned now

WaterBottle123 · 26/02/2021 07:33

@Meltinthemiddle

I could cope with no snacks but only being able to drink water....I drink pints of tea!!

charliebear78 · 26/02/2021 20:52

I have been drinking tea with them in-I just make sure it is luke warm not boiling hot( how I usually prefer it)
Are you all seeing your Dentist every 2 weeks?
I am, I go back to get checked and collect my next fortnightly Trays( Shame I picked a Dentist over half an hour away!!!)

charliebear78 · 02/03/2021 11:34

Me again! Hows everyone getting on now..
I'm doing ok and have become quite used to them now.
I do cheat I suppose my still drinking tea and wine with them in but i have had no noticable staining..
My question is..do your gumsblled when cleaning..I do suffer areas of gum disease and I have treatment for it.the bleeding had stopped but since invisalign it is back quite badly.
