Which is better option 1 or 2? Also, am I mad to pay these prices for a coat?!! I love love love them but I'm a bit concerned they'll go out of style quickly.

What do you think?*

Option 1 is Max Mara and cost £1980, swipe left option 2 is Hugo boss and £700

I think you are mad.

I really dislike them.

Spied · 07/11/2020 19:49

Good Lord. You are positively insane.

boohooyoutoo · 07/11/2020 19:49

😂 thanks I think I needed that

Made me think of John Motson.

JM10 · 07/11/2020 19:50

Properly crazy op, sorry. I'd not buy them for £10

Kenworthington · 07/11/2020 19:50

They’ve been on trend a couple years and I don’t think they’ll go out anytime soon. I think they’re pretty classic actually. The maxmara one is the original end best isn’t it? It’s gorgeous. The other one is lovely too but the more costy one is my fave. Typically .

HotPenguin · 07/11/2020 19:51

What's it made of? I'm not against spending £££ on clothes that last, but I worry those coats will soon look like one of my childrens' favourite teddy bears.

Kenworthington · 07/11/2020 19:51

If you can afford it EASILY then go for it if not there are plenty of inexpensive dupes.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 07/11/2020 19:51

Of the two I like the first. But neither of them are classics - for that money I'd want something a lot nicer.

travailtotravel · 07/11/2020 19:52

Step away, OP. Step away.

MushMonster · 07/11/2020 19:52

They look warmand cosy, and I like them. Left side (1) better because I like less buttons.
Once you have given the astronomical prices, it is madness! No way I would pay that!

WunWun · 07/11/2020 19:52

I can't see any difference except the button colours Confused

lonelySam · 07/11/2020 19:53

I have no problem with spending stupid money on clothes but I wouldn't buy either of those coats as they are not my style.

However, if you love them... But them!

MrsR87 · 07/11/2020 19:53

Personally, I don’t like them and think they will go out of fashion very quickly. The most I have ever spent on a coat is £300 and that was for a three in one thick winter coat that is never really in it out of fashion. If I was going to spend even £300 on a ‘normal’ or ‘smarter’ coat, it would be on a classic style that I could reuse for years. A nice classic staple piece for my wardrobe. For ‘fad’ coats I would not want to spend more that £60 tbh!!! I

TheTangoTerrorIsTerrifying · 07/11/2020 19:53

The prices are astronomical OP.

I’m sorry but my first thought was Del Boy, is that the look you are going for?

NaughtipussMaximus · 07/11/2020 19:54

I’m short and well rounded so I’d look ridiculous in one of those - but if you think you’d look good and you can afford it, why not?!

Ruthietuthie · 07/11/2020 19:54

I would buy a classic Max Mara coat, still in camel, and still with the same shape but less bulky and "teddy-bear," which you really would wear forever. They are beautifully made. These are more of an "of the moment" style, which will look silly in a couple of years. Go for this style in a cheaper version if you would enjoy it.

CommanderBurnham · 07/11/2020 19:55

They're gorgeous. They had very similar at primark for £35 but they didn't have my soze

Didntgetmydiamondring · 07/11/2020 19:56

Max Mara one Even makes a model look awful.

PickAChew · 07/11/2020 19:56

They're a bit Arthur Daley, only fluffier.

Ro198 · 07/11/2020 19:58

Love the first one

boohooyoutoo · 07/11/2020 19:59

😂 thank all, your responses some of them have really made me chuckle, especially the Del Boy one seriously I'm happy with the honesty as I don't really have anyone I can ask for these sorts of opinions.

I think I'm going to reconsider...!!

OP posts:
lilsquish · 07/11/2020 20:01

was just about to say they remind me of Del Boy, but see I have been beaten to it.

sorry OP :-D
