Which is better option 1 or 2? Also, am I mad to pay these prices for a coat?!! I love love love them but I'm a bit concerned they'll go out of style quickly.

What do you think?*

They are pretty classic. The Maxmara coat has been around since 2013 so hardly a fickle fashion piece. I always think they look a little like they are made from fleece rather than the lovely fibres they are actually made of and being shorter, I know I would look crap in it so I have never been tempted but I know that they are supposed to be super warm

CornedBeef451 · 07/11/2020 20:25

I think you can get a much cheaper option that would look just the same for the time it will be in fashion!

sleepymumm · 07/11/2020 20:26

I would love to cuddle you with that on 😂

DrDavidBanner · 07/11/2020 20:28

I could be so good for you
Love you like you want me too
Oooh I'd be so good for you Grin

Sadhoot · 07/11/2020 20:30

They're hideous; I love it. I would buy the first one, it looks more modern :)

This is coming from a woman who wears a yellow sheepskin "atrocity" though, so take it with a pinch of salt.

LimitIsUp · 07/11/2020 20:31

Shapeless and unflattering, surely?

Bouledeneige · 07/11/2020 20:32

I actually love the first one. If you're skinny enough to carry off a bulky coat. But, its crazy expensive and during a lockdown I can't imagine there's many chances to wear a coat like that. And honestly, it is a little bit obscene during these difficult times.

FiorDiPanna · 07/11/2020 20:33

That style of cost is lovely and warm and cosy, but I wouldn’t pay £100 for it, let alone those prices.

timetochangeagainforever · 07/11/2020 20:40

TlI really like this style and have adults one but with a hood and this it's it's second winter. It's become a classic style and they must be very well made so will be stylish and warm for many years plus you will be able to easily sell them on if you wish, They are very similar, so I would go for the Hugo Boss purely based on price so that I could also get something else 😉
Having said that I was rather taken aback when I met my 22 yr old daughter today for a walk and she was wearing a new coat - a £1200 Canada Goose in a very unflattering style....but I didn't negatively comment as it's get money her style. My eyes were watering though as I wore my £20!vintage (second hand) leopard print coat!

NoCureForLove · 07/11/2020 20:43

I bought [[

www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/womenswear/coats-and-jackets/coats/product.wool-teddy-fleece-coat-beige.0916512002.html this]] last week. It's fab and a complete bargain compared to the one's in your post op. When it goes out of fashion I wont have to wear it for the rest of my life because I spent eleventy million pounds on it... Smile

timetochangeagainforever · 07/11/2020 20:43

A similar NOT adults

WellWeAreFuckedNow · 07/11/2020 20:43

Get a primarni version.

Sasuma · 07/11/2020 20:44

Personally I do like the teddy coats. But I think they’ve been around for too long now to make it a good investment at this stage, and I think the trend won’t last forever so it may look dated soonish. The teddy coat trend has been around for a few winters already and although still popular, will eventually fade away I reckon.

I think to spend that much on a coat, better to go for something that really will be worn for decades - eg the classic Max Mara camel coat or similar. I’m not sure you’d get a good cost-per-wear for this style.

boohooyoutoo · 07/11/2020 20:45

@NoCureForLove the link doesn't work but I'm interested to see it!

Minnie747 · 07/11/2020 20:46

Max Mara, out of the two. As others have said it will date quickly (it’s the 2/3rd winter teddy coats have been popular and already less worn this season).

If you want a trend piece - go for it! Ultimately and personally I think I would go classic on a Max Mara coat.

EatTheHamTina · 07/11/2020 20:48

Is it gold lined?! Jesus. That's expensive. They remind me of Del Boy Grin

boohooyoutoo · 07/11/2020 20:49

I already have a black one too which I bought in black because if it goes out of style as it's black it will be inconspicuous - not as obvious and I love the warmth of them. I've concluded from the posts that it is pretty ridiculous to buy this court thank you for giving me a reality check!

OP posts:
chunkyrun · 07/11/2020 20:50

They're everywhere at the minute! I'd buy a cheaper one in all honestly. I think the style isn't very practical so doubt you'll get much use out of it.

OP posts:
Dillo10 · 07/11/2020 20:56

If you are even considering spending that kind of money on a Max Mara coat, it has to be the camel weekend coat. It's an absolute classic. These "Teddy" style coats will inevitably go out of fashion

ladygracie · 07/11/2020 20:59

I actually like the new look one better. I don’t think it looks cheap.

ClaudiaAndTheCauldron · 07/11/2020 21:02

@RusholmeRuffian

I'd look like Bungle off Rainbow in that 😂
@ Rush So would I!!!!

@timetochangeagainforever Canada Goose? Not just expensive but also a company that’s known for its animal cruelty and use of real fur Sad.

NoCureForLove · 07/11/2020 21:10

Ooops. Hope this works...
