Which is better option 1 or 2? Also, am I mad to pay these prices for a coat?!! I love love love them but I'm a bit concerned they'll go out of style quickly.

What do you think?*

Well done for reconsidering OP. Save your money and use it for a coat which is classic and won’t go out of fashion.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/11/2020 20:04

I like the Maxmara one best, but I really don’t like this type of coat. Mainly because they make me look like an actual teddy, short and round and furry, which may not apply to you! I also think that they will date in a way that a wool coat won’t, no matter the styling.

HelpMeh · 07/11/2020 20:05

I don't like those ones, but there's plenty of teddy coats on the high street if you want one for novelty. I sure as shite wouldn't spend the best part of £1k on one, let alone £1900.

Unless you're minted of course? If money is no object then buy what you like.

PickAChew · 07/11/2020 20:05

And if you're set on buying an expensive coat, buy a classic styled wool coat for £800 or whatever you're willing to spend and get a polyester Teddy bear knock off from asos or next for £80!

SewingBeeAddict · 07/11/2020 20:05

@SomeSmotheringDreams

Made me think of John Motson.
🤣🤣🤣
Incrediblytired · 07/11/2020 20:07

I prefer the Max Mara but I wouldn’t pay the price because I’m a skint keyworker!

Lobsterquadrille2 · 07/11/2020 20:08

Looks like an Ewok costume. Even with a tenth of the price tag, I wouldn't like it, sorry.

GreyishDays · 07/11/2020 20:11

I always think that type looks quite cheap (in a high fashion sort of way, not in a cheap and nasty way) when I see them. I don’t think it’s a style to spend that much on. Love them but not at that price.

Aztectrousers · 07/11/2020 20:13

Yes you’d be mad to spend that kind of money.
On first glance I thought the first one was the £35 Primark coat my dd has just bought. I look ridiculous in it but dd looks great.

boohooyoutoo · 07/11/2020 20:14

I think it's total boredom being in lockdown it's clearly not making me think rationally!! I'll save my money ☺️

I'd look like Bungle off Rainbow in that 😂

tinatree · 07/11/2020 20:15

I have one and I love it, DH on the other hand hates it.

Graffitiqueen · 07/11/2020 20:15

Crazy.

Newnamenewopenme · 07/11/2020 20:16

I like the first one! I think the shape is more flattering than the second

AnneElliott · 07/11/2020 20:17

Don't like either of them op. Agree with the Arthur Daly comment. It's something he'd buy for 'er indoors!

ktp100 · 07/11/2020 20:17

80's football manager vibes.

Not sure I'd pay a grand to resemble Big Ron Saunders.

SunshineOnATrainToday · 07/11/2020 20:17

Hideous, unless you want to look like a Cockapoo. Hope that helps you to step away Grin

ktp100 · 07/11/2020 20:17

Or Del Boy!!!

mysteryfairy · 07/11/2020 20:19

OP I went down this rabbit hole last winter and checked myself in time. I bought a cheapo copy in grey from Zara. It was actually earning its keep til Thursday as was in tier 2. It’s really warm and can just be bunged in machine. Haven’t actually got good or drink down it meeting up outside yet but it does feel more of a possibility when you are bundled up and constricted.

CovidAnni · 07/11/2020 20:19

www.marksandspencer.com/faux-fur-This is a nicer colour and £89 from Marks

Am I mad to buy on of these coats?!
2Kidsinatrenchcoat · 07/11/2020 20:19

Oh well this is embarrassing, I really like both of them!

CovidAnni · 07/11/2020 20:20

Kenworthington · 07/11/2020 20:21

Me too @2KidsinatrenchcoatGrin

Brakebackcyclebot · 07/11/2020 20:21

You'll look like a big tedy bear.

They're awful! Get something classic and timeless

Namethief · 07/11/2020 20:21
