I'm thinking this is definitely the year for pjs all day!

cheezy · 07/10/2020 21:29

It’s reminiscent of a lounge singer on a cruise ship to me. Depends on the context I suppose.

Are you in Australia because it looks a bit chilly for December! Grin

Lardlizard · 07/10/2020 21:31

🤣🤣yes it is a bit Jane McDonald I agree !!

I'll be wearing pyjamas with any newly gifted clothes over the top, just like I did when I was a child Grin

That dress is pretty for a cocktail party, but I'd be too cold and worry about draping my sleeves in gravy to enjoy wearing it.

Plus it doesn't match my slippers.

PaulinePetrovaPosey · 07/10/2020 21:32

I like the idea of dressing up on the day because we don't have anything else to glam up for!

But won't those sleeves dangle in the gravy?

Great minds, Quinto. But perhaps OP is better coordinated than us?

Parker231 · 07/10/2020 21:35

We’re a pj or jeans family on Christmas Day. Usually both my and DH’s families fly over for the week. Doesn’t look likely this year so a very relaxed Christmas.

LesLavandes · 07/10/2020 21:38

Pjs. No celebration here

Lardlizard · 07/10/2020 21:38

I’m planning on doing my table very ott too 🤣

I bought this in the Boden sale. Thought it would work well for Christmas day and it was less than £30!

Randomword235 · 07/10/2020 21:45

Do people really get dressed up like that in their own houses?
I'll be wearing my pyjamas for most of the morning and then get dressed into most likely whatever jeans/jumper/trackie bottoms I was wearing Christmas Eve.
That said I think that is a lovely dress but not for cooking in, and crawling round the floor with the kids.

Lardlizard · 07/10/2020 21:49

Faking oh I like that ! A lot
That would do well with my living room

Excellent for 30 quid too
I’m also a lover of wrap dresses

Lardlizard · 07/10/2020 21:52

I think I’d team it with killer heels, full on make up and nails, and some very ott earrings
I knew the sleeves are not practical but they are just fun wafting about 🤣

I’m going to do a ridiculous Over the top table decs with flowers greenery and candles and two silver reindeer’s facing each other
In a symetrical fashion!

Pauline Grin

You could run Brussel sprouts up one sleeve, across the shoulders, and down the other! Great party trick.

When I was a nipper, and all this were just fields, we'd have a party Xmas Eve and wear a party dress (dsis and I). But Xmas day was anything. I think we got dressed, just comfy clothes.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/10/2020 21:56

If things stay as they are re restrictions it will just be me and DP. I had flu last year - we were supposed to host but had to cancel - so was in pj bottoms and a sparkly jumper, feeling like death.

I have a lovely sequinned skirt I wore the year before with a black polo neck, black opaques, and black Stan Smiths. I might wear that again. Definitely won’t be buying a party frock.

Lucked · 07/10/2020 22:01

I get a little dressed up (we all do) but not night out/ sequins outfits more like suitable for church although we go to midnight mass or a Virgil.

westr · 07/10/2020 22:03

I'd like a sequin skirt this winter actually - anyone seen any yet?

IndecentFeminist · 07/10/2020 22:06

Wtf are those sleeves?

piglet81 · 07/10/2020 22:10

I like dressing up on Christmas Day. We always used to wear party dresses as children and it just makes me feel extra festive. (I do change into comfies later in the day though...)

Doilooklikeatourist · 07/10/2020 22:21

I like to get dressed nicely , but I'm old and don't understand the wear pyjamas all day idea
Definitely wore a party dress as little girls and I do like to see the babies dressed in elf / parcel baby gros. ( even better red velvet dresses )
Usually a nice red jumper / vest Cardi combo with ( elastic waist ) black velvet skirt

JaceLancs · 07/10/2020 22:22

Can’t see a link
I will be wearing a new dress
It’s velvet but more like a sweater dress in style
Casual stretchy and comfy with opaques - boots if we are able to visit family members - slippers if we can only meet virtually
I still like to make a bit of an effort - even Dcats get a Xmas glitter collar 😻
