I am a meet-up virgin.. well virtually.. and have certainly never been to a Christmas one before.. I was really impressed to see a thread about what people were wearing to it the other week, only to find people linking to gorilla suits and suchlike!

So could people PLEASE say what kind of thing they're wearing please?

I don't want to get it wrong!

Merci beaucoup!

i dont know! nicer looking website, but no idea if that means better rooms, more conveneint location, more fun and interesting people retiring there to pass out, possbily banter into the night...
i quite fancy bantering into the night... but thats now.
then,i may prefer passing out in peace.

NappiesGalore · 28/09/2007 23:15

oh id def have ensuite. do hotels even do rooms which arent anymore?

StarryStarryNight · 28/09/2007 23:15

I know what you mean, for all I know I might be tempted to cab it home!

StarryStarryNight · 28/09/2007 23:16

bathroom is a must. and a huge big fried breakfast - kidding

NappiesGalore · 28/09/2007 23:16

ah, youre in london then.

NappiesGalore · 28/09/2007 23:17

fried b'fast actually the best thing for a hangover. trust me, i used to be a professional.

nappynuttynormabutty · 28/09/2007 23:17

I'll banter into the night, tho it may be rather drunken banter

StarryStarryNight · 28/09/2007 23:17

Yes, I am in London, but in the south west, will take around 45 minutes home in a cab....

StarryStarryNight · 28/09/2007 23:18

Lol, professional hungover or professional chef?

NappiesGalore · 28/09/2007 23:24

professional chef?? are you crazy?those people work really hard. and they are very very grumpy. and quite a bit greasy.

no no no.

i was a professional party animal. once upon a time. oh what bliss to be able to say that! of all the things i regret not doing, out and out hedonistic debauchery (for a time) is not among them.

hallelujah.

not that i do any of that now im a responsiblerespectablemotherof3. har har.

StarryStarryNight · 28/09/2007 23:29

oh, yes, that is another trip down memory lane. But I think my party animal days are so long gone I am beginning to query their existence. I am made to feel old by my 19 year old au pair, who does not know who George Michael or Sting is, have no idea if I make a reference to a film, a band, musician or actor, as it was way before her time. That is age.

NappiesGalore · 28/09/2007 23:43

oh ssn - thats not age, thats the ignorance of youth!

thats what we oldies have to tell ourselves anyway

is your AP a bit of a pita? is the second ref ive seen to her tonight...

StarryStarryNight · 28/09/2007 23:47

no she is not a pita, but she is a deed of necessity, and sometimes it is just nice to not have a stranger in the house. This spring when my last AP left I was adamant not to have another. But Alas, I have had to change nursery for DS2 to one with shorter hours, and with DS1s school, juggling work and kids would be impossible without one.

You are right, it is youth, not age...

NappiesGalore · 29/09/2007 00:01

ssn - i am off to bed. will isee you at the meetup?

am thinking of booking the excelsior... will egt booked up wont it? procrastination a weakness of mine...

StarryStarryNight · 29/09/2007 00:20

NappiesGalore, I have added the event to my Organized Mums diary. So you will see me there. Will ponder about booking a room. They do single rooms with ensuites, seems perfect!

Flamesparrow · 29/09/2007 00:55

I am either a peacock blue wrap dress, with boots n fishnets, or jeans and a decentish top.

Been out in the dress tonight, been in the jeans all day - I think I would have felt more "me" tonight in the jeans....

EricL · 29/09/2007 00:59

Jesus. You women are nuts. I can't believe you are actually stressing about what you might wear in three months time.

Just as well you always look nice isn't it?

It's always nice for us guys to see the final result.

StarryStarryNight · 29/09/2007 09:30

Eric. You coming?

massivebigpantsface · 29/09/2007 09:52

starry - no I can't make it - had my name down and had to take it off again!

NappiesGalore · 29/09/2007 11:13

ah, but if you come eric, what will you wear??

Flamesparrow · 29/09/2007 11:27

NappiesGalore · 29/09/2007 13:03

BeetrootBevan · 29/09/2007 13:26

MP - I am driving up - happy to give you a lift if you fancy - you would have to get nearish to me - although probably easier to jsut get train form T

morningpaper · 29/09/2007 13:28

Thanks for the offer Beety! Although will probably get train, will probably take as long from T to W as from T to London

Are you staying over somewhere or driving back?
