TOAST

goldpendant · 29/05/2020 21:57

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

Oh best ok luck Zinnia!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 05/06/2020 14:21

That should best of luck. Wishing you more than just ok luck Grin

SamanthaStripyPants · 05/06/2020 14:30

I only came here because I thought you were on about toasted bread and wanted to share your delight. Confused

GazeboParty · 05/06/2020 14:47

Honeycomb jacket just arrived reduced from £275 to £87.50 with John Lewis. Thing is I can't think of what to wear it with - dd is telling me I need 5 things it will work with (she's quoting me back to me!)...I don't have one!

sminkipinki · 05/06/2020 14:56

Ahhh, I don't really do 'light summer' perfumes sadly, cherries! Although you can't beat a dousing in Diorissimo if you want something on the lighter side, I guess.

But my classics that get the 'ewwww, old lady!!' treatment from the uninformed are probably the following:

Estee Lauder Youth Dew
Guerlain L'Heure Bleue
Guerlain Mitsouko
Geurlain Vol de Nuit
Hermes 24 Faubourg
Annick Goutal L'Heure Exquise
Molinard Habanita
Lanvin Arpege
Coty L'Aimant
Gres Cabochard
Clinique Aromatics Elixir

All fabulous with a frumpy Toast frock Wink

(apologies for the slight thread hijack!)

Alsohuman · 05/06/2020 15:11

Oh Cabochard! My winter standby. The number of people who have told me I smell delicious when I wear that. My Guerlain favourites are Jicky and Shalimar.

AmethystMoonShine · 05/06/2020 15:17

@Railingsohno I love the Kantha jackets! I know of a few people that have ordered, returned and reordered (And repeat Grin) to get one they like! Go for it, it should be a ‘for life’ piece, so you should like it in and out Smile

Is there anything you couldn't wear it with? It would go with anything navy or oatmeal. Definitely with jeans. Or you could buy something specially ...
Djangor3725 · 05/06/2020 15:28

Very tempted now to get a couple of jackets & a pair of trousers - all twill fabric which is hard to find elsewhere.
As an aside I'm not sure if the spinster painter is a housepainter - I have a pair of housepainter's overalls bought off ebay & they are useful & practical & were very cheap, but I think anything from Toast would give me more pleasure to wear. With regards to actual artists - I have never considered their marital status - is that relevant to the art they create or to what they wear?

GazeboParty · 05/06/2020 15:48

@Alsohuman definitely with jeans but underneath, navy doesn't work - Oatmeal is awful on me. Orange might work, maybe even mustard but my orange tops do not work with the shape.

Alsohuman · 05/06/2020 15:52

I’m surprised navy doesn’t work, that’s a bugger. What a shame, it’s a lovely jacket.

Countmeout · 05/06/2020 15:57

@Railingsohno apparently you can email them and ask for pictures of stock I read somewhere.
So it becomes less random.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 05/06/2020 16:22

I’m keeping 90% of my Toast order. Blast. Wink

Whatthefoxgoingon · 05/06/2020 16:25

All the dresses are v comfy and cut very well.

Countmeout · 05/06/2020 17:20

What did you get @Whatthefoxgoingon?
Mines due to arrive tomorrow

Whatthefoxgoingon · 05/06/2020 17:46

Mainly dresses for summer. Which will jinx the summer sunshine I bet Grin

ilovecherries · 05/06/2020 18:00

Currently on my dressing table I have:
Estee Lauder Youth Dew
Guerlain Shalimar
Guerlain Mitsouko
Lanvin Arpege
Gres Cabochard
Clinique Aromatics Elixir

So we have quite a lot in common there! All worn to complete my old lady look 🤣

slipperyeel · 05/06/2020 18:55

I love Estée Lauder fragrances despite their lack of cool, been wearing Beautiful for over 30 years

goldpendant · 05/06/2020 21:22

Can't believe I missed the honeycomb jacket on JL!!!

On the contrary growing boys i often get asked where my dress/bag/top is from when I'm wearing TOAST.

And I'm size 10 5ft 7 and love the style as it doesn't cling to my figure. I love being able to throw on a dress and feel great and that's what TOAST does for me.

ilovecherries · 05/06/2020 21:41

The faded linen dress mentioned up thread briefly cane back into stock in JL and it has fallen into my basket, along with the pin tuck blouse.

LunaTheCat · 06/06/2020 00:06

I have found my tribe 😂 - and just ordered the tie neck dress.
Love the crinkle cotton top with buttons down the back but may need to wait until the sale.
If you love toast - what else do you love?
I think some sea salt linen has a slightly Toast vibe - and is cheaper. Also love Cos. New Zealand company called Kowtow is wonderful too.

AmethystMoonShine · 06/06/2020 07:19

I like some Seasalt things too... only some mind, the plainer things usually. I like Cos, White Company I used to like but quality is patchy now and some Jigsaw bits. I do have a few things from Hush, but have gone off them as the quality is usually shockingly bad for the price. It didn’t used to be sadly but their style has got a bit repetitive and the colours often don’t suit me.
I’ve looked at Olive and Community Clothing since a poster/s on here suggested them and have signed up to their mailing lists. I will look at the NZ one you mention too @LunaTheCat

OneOfTheGrundys · 06/06/2020 07:46

I’m a secondary teacher in a big school and there’s me and one other who are toast fans. We don’t know each other really but always give each other a wink when we recognise an item!

Almahart · 06/06/2020 07:54

My wardrobe is mostly Cos and Toast (all in sales or from eBay). I do have a bit of Uniqlo too and the odd gem from Muji. Also H&M premium range is good. I agree Hush quality not great anymore.
