TOAST

Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

I do. Like looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Railingsohno · 16/06/2020 11:06

@ilovecherries

Wellll. It’s almost getting to the point where it would be rude and ungrateful to return them, don’t you think Grin?
😁 See attached photo from Toast Instagram. This is what I need my house to look like!

Got this from JLP for £62.50!
And this for £107.50
Keeping both!

Moominmammaatsea · 16/06/2020 11:22

@GazeboParty, snap! I love Toast’s indigo denim and I ordered both of those items, too. They arrived this morning and they are definite keepers. I was glad that I checked out the recommended size guide on the Toast website as the smock shirt is slightly less roomy than usual so I sized up from a 10 to a 12.

GazeboParty · 16/06/2020 11:39

@Moominmammaatsea will you wash yours first. The indigo is likely to rub off on everything I own.

ilovecherries · 16/06/2020 11:52

I’ve just had all my price matching refunds approved. I would never have even thought of doing it (and if I’m honest, can’t even really see how I’m entitled to it, but - yay!!!). Thanks everyone.

Alsohuman · 16/06/2020 12:22

Those are both beautiful garments. I do wish I wasn’t too busty for a double breasted jacket, that would definitely be in my wardrobe if it would suit me. Toast doesn’t love anyone over a C cup.

Almahart · 16/06/2020 12:29

@GazeboParty I bought that top. It's really lovely isn't it

Moominmammaatsea · 16/06/2020 12:32

@GazeboParty, no way! Everything I wear is indigo, denim or navy blue, so I don’t really mind the colour rub. I’m also one of those weirdos who likes to preserve the integrity of selvedge denim by airing rather than washing etc (there are whole forums devoted to this seriously!).

GazeboParty · 16/06/2020 12:32

@Alsohuman I'm a G cup!

Mine has gone in the wash, a cold one though - generally I'm not a fan of wearing new clothes as the chemicals used can often give me a bad skin reaction.

ilovecherries · 16/06/2020 12:47

I once had nearly all the skin lifted off me after a few hours of wearing a brand new ‘distressed’ harbour top from Joules. I was a lot more distressed than the top by the end of the day, and finally tore it off in a lay-by and drove home in my bra. I was covered in huge welts, so now I do tend to wash things before I wear them next to my skin.

I now also have another variation of the conversation up thread about it being ok to buy something if you’d mentally spent the money. I’m now convincing myself that this thread has actually SAVED me money, because of the price matching info, so I’m sure I’m better off now - and ergo, probably have more money to spend.

My way of justifying purchases is not to look at the bank account. 😬 Dh does that - waste of time for us to double up! 😎

That’s really bloody unfair! Why can you get away with that lovely jacket and I can’t?!

Countmeout · 16/06/2020 13:12

Well I got the refund for the Kado from John Lewis too and I’m delighted. Then I remembered I’d bought the blouse no one likes. Does anyone know what it went down to.( this one www.toa.st/uk/product/c7lcj/pintuck+cotton+shirt.htm?clr=c7lcj_white&noredirect&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI583UgKeG6gIVBuztCh0qSwsmEAQYASABEgJrD_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds. )

Love that jacket @GazeboParty.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 16/06/2020 13:20

If anyone wants a Seiko dress in size 14, or an orange linen dress in M, I sent them back to JL. Both at bargain prices now.

ilovecherries · 16/06/2020 13:35

I liked it, count. I got £26 back on it this morning. So that would have made it £39, I think.

GazeboParty · 16/06/2020 13:45

@Alsohuman I might need to go to Specsavers😬...I can wear jackets - cardigans are another matter.

Alsohuman · 16/06/2020 16:28

I doubt it very much @GazeboParty. I’m sure you look amazing in it. Perhaps it’s unfair to just blame my E cups, it’s probably my aged, post menopausal body generally!

Countmeout · 16/06/2020 18:04

Thank you cherries I’ve just put a claim in for it. Fingers crossed though I had my eye on it from it first appeared and was very happy to get it. It’s washed beautifully too.

Attaching a picture of the Ume dress still available on Toast site which is bound to drop into further reductions if anyone is interested in it . I got mine on John Lewis as it was last winters I think and had dropped to £42. I’ve put it away for autumn.
I bought a 12 as I’ve a DD cup and it buttons at the front . It’s shorter than my other Toast dresses (I am 5’4”) . But I’ll have tights/boots on. It hangs nicely and feels very comfortable.
It comes in steel/blue too for anyone who suits those colours.

ilovecherries · 16/06/2020 18:23

I bought that as well, count, it was a great price. It’s not truly my colour but it was such a great buy, and I don’t think it looks bad on me, even though HoC wouldn’t agree. Mine is also packed away for winter. The price will need to drop a bit, but if it does I’d be tempted by the steel too. I do love a good dress.

Countmeout · 16/06/2020 18:26

I tried the steel as well cherries but the colour didn’t suit me.

mouldygrapes · 16/06/2020 18:55

Yeah, I agree with this. The tie neck dress I ordered has gone back today. Had to size up to fit the boobs, so then it was baggy AF at the back and shoulders. I’m also pear shaped and despite the upsizing, the pockets sat weirdly on my hips (thanks lockdown weight gain!)
