Now I never thought I'd say this, not until my mid 40's at least, but I feel like celebrating the wonders of TOAST! I'm not sure I'm game for the wintry stuff but their summer dresses are just perfect. For years I've longed for the undone, easy linen look but usually end up looking like a sack of potatoes... not this summer my friends!

My dad earlier said I looked "outrageously well sorted" in my new orange linen number - I think he meant well put together, and I've just got the navy on sale on JL. Yipppeeeee!

That's a brilliant tip @Moominmammaatsea thank you! I ordered a pair of Jude trousers from JL at £82.50, and they're now £40-something and out of stock. I was quite pleased at the initial discount, but I'll be ecstatic if get them for half again. I'll wait until they arrived before I contact them... they'd better be nice!

My smaller sized trousers arrived at the weekend and fit much better, so I'm sending the bigger ones back. I've also decided to send back a cardigan I'd ordered - I can't remember what it's called but it's the yellow on they use for the knitwear image on the sale homepage. It's lovely, but the sleeves are much baggier than the body so it looks a bit mismatched and I think, after having tried it on n-dozen times, the collar would irritate me, so it's going back.

I really hope JL aren't stopping selling Toast. Like others have said, their postage and returns are much, much better than Toast (and I often find they're quicker at posting things, too). Toast really should address their returns at least - it's completely at odds with the cost of their clothes.

@StarShapedWindow I've often received badly creased things from Toast - I never like to iron/steam anything until I've decided I'm keeping it, but I've had some things that are so badly creased it's hard to tell if you like them to know whether you're going to keep them!

Floisme · 15/06/2020 11:05

I thought the JL sale was mostly past season Toast, and I'd assumed they were just trying to shift the old stock cos they'll have a big enough job selling 2020 stuff. Have they sold off all the current season too? (Sorry - I can't get on their website at the moment to check.)

paintedwolf · 15/06/2020 11:22

Just received and tried on the Kado dress, it is gorgeous, lovely fabric and fits perfectly but I need to buy a strapless bra. It is also 30 quid cheaper on the JL website now so I have submitted a price match claim, thanks for the tip. Will report back if it is successful.

Yes, they reduced things that are still full price on the Toast site. My linen dress was half price, in fact less once you’ve factored in free delivery.
paintedwolf · 15/06/2020 12:03

Wow, John Lewis have already processed my refund of £30, v impressed.

Floisme · 15/06/2020 12:06

Thanks Alsohuman. Hmm that doesn't sound so good - well obviously it's great for you and everyone who bought in the sale! But it doesn't sound too good for the longer term. I wonder if it's anything to do with having new owners - they (Toast) were being sold to a Scandanavian company I believe.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 13:15

Size 12 in the green crosshatch dress has arrived. I am not sure what I think. It does gape. It is also almost snug across the back and I am narrow there. I expect the ten will be too small. Will compare when the ten arrives and then decide, but going by this one, if you are at all busty size up.

SirVixofVixHall · 15/06/2020 13:16

It is also very creased and crumpled, so a bit deflating when it is an expensive item, even in the sale.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 15/06/2020 14:44

I got my crosshatch dress from JL, only a little bit creased. Toast really need to address this issue of sending things all crumpled up!

@paintedwolf did you submit an online claim or did you call? If it was online, can you please tell me how? Thanks!

paintedwolf · 15/06/2020 16:03

@Whatthefoxgoingon online, I filled in a price match form, which I found by going to Customer services/Request a price match.

jelabi · 15/06/2020 16:23

@Moominmammaatsea. Thank you so much, bought Riya dress from JL on Saturday for £80 went down to £48. I requested a price match and they are now refunding me £32, didn't realise you could do that, I'm so pleased.

Railingsohno · 15/06/2020 16:28

Crosshatch dress arrived. So lovely! Quite creased but I can live with that. The pleating at the back is beautiful. It doesn’t gape but it is a bit dangerous when I move around! I might get a bra that’s more a vest top/bralette rather than wearing a full camisole.

Wonder if anyone on here could help - I bought the kado dress at JL before the final reductions. Am keen to try to get the difference as another poster has managed it but I don't remember what price the dress went down to. It's no longer on JL website.
Does anyone else have it? I love the print but finding the bodice seems to flatten my chest down.
Love that cross hatch dress railings
Been lurking on this thread a while but it's not good for the bank balance. Another brand i think is toast like which I don't think I've seen yet is kate sheridan. Margaret howell is the dream though!

@paintedwolf

You star, thank you! I shall give it a go Grin

paintedwolf · 15/06/2020 17:14

@BerniceBobsHerHair I paid 75 and it went down to 45. The dress looks great on you and I don't see any flattening going on ;)

@Whatthefoxgoingon No problem, hope it works for you.

Moominmammaatsea · 15/06/2020 17:16

@BerniceBobsHerHair, I’m pretty sure it went down to £48 (the same price as the Riya). Good luck with your claim.

You’ve all motivated me to take my own advice and to actually submit never knowingly undersold claims for the Maud skirt and navy/white wool cotton sweater I bought in the first round of sales and then were reduced further by another £25 and £32 respectively.

I figure it’s better in my pocket than JL’s!

I wasn’t convinced about the sweater, although it is beautiful and it will get much wear all year round as we live in the frozen north; I like it much better at £48 than I did at £80 (original new season price of £160)!

BerniceBobsHerHair · 15/06/2020 17:16

Oh whoops painted wolf didn't realise it was the kado you applied for the price match - so was it on for £45?

BerniceBobsHerHair · 15/06/2020 17:17

Sorry cross posted and thanks - will give it a go Smile

Moominmammaatsea · 15/06/2020 17:19

@BerniceBobsHerHair, sorry, I stand corrected. I’ve just looked at the Toast website for the original selling price and it was £150 so it therefore follows that 70 per cent off the asking price leaves £45 to pay.

Yorkshirelass04 · 15/06/2020 17:51

Thanks for the price match advice! I've just submitted a claim for a Mint Velvet dress I paid full price for www.johnlewis.com/mint-velvet-pia-trapeze-animal-print-midi-dress-red/p4957517?size=10
🤩

Countmeout · 15/06/2020 17:56

Well how does that work with John Lewis ? Would you have had to buy within the last 24/48 hours to get the price match,

Moominmammaatsea · 15/06/2020 17:58

@countmeout, it’s actually within the last 28 days!

paintedwolf · 15/06/2020 18:13

@bernicebobssherhair yes I bought the Kado dress for 75 and then it was reduced to 45.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 15/06/2020 18:13

I have managed to get a refund from JL, woo hoo!

Thanks to @paintedwolf and @moominmammaatsea for the great tips.

Toast-wearers are the best kind of people Grin

paintedwolf · 15/06/2020 18:14

Yeah 🤩
