Hi All,
Apologies if there is another thread about this, but I couldn't find it. So I thought I would start one.
Happy to get it deleted if there is one already, if not - happy unboxing, let's hear what you think :)

Thanks Bluesky will keep using but layer it up with some nice moisturiser afterwards x

LEELULUMPKIN · 06/12/2019 12:25

I am very happy about this. I didn't even know you could get deodorant like this in a pot rather than stick/can.

I LOVE the smell of it too.

OP posts:
MabelMoo23 · 06/12/2019 12:30

I really like the smell of the deodorant but wish it was a stick just to make easier to apply

I do sweat a lot though so not sure how the lack of aluminium will work

I’m quite like the oil, I have dry skin so am using under my moisturiser. The Hourglass powder i was initially excited about as I LOVE hourglass and already have the ambient compact. Not sure about loose powder and don’t want it caking on me so will see.

Not tried the perfume yet but I’m not a floral person so not sure it will be for me

This is my first calendar and as of yet, nothing has convinced me it’s a “must buy” but it’s early days

LEELULUMPKIN · 06/12/2019 13:03

I totally agree Mabel. It's a first for me too and they are seriously going to have to up their game with the remainder as if it is all so "niche" as a PP so rightly said, I won't be buying again.

I had the liberty calendar a couple of years ago and am sure it was better. My DD has the lookfantastic one and it seems better but was about a quarter of the price - full pot of elemis marine cream for example.

MabelMoo23 · 06/12/2019 14:50

As I thought I hate the perfume!!!! I thought I would as floral types are not my thing at all - it’s given me a headache. I’m sure my Mum will like it though!

OKBoom3r · 06/12/2019 14:55

Why do you lot bother buying this calendar? Don't get me wrong, it's an entertaining read as you all whinge every day about what you've got and how it doesn't suit you, but the contents are readily available to skim through on the website before you purchase.

I'd suggest maybe doing that next year to cut down on the disappointment factor. Although then I'd miss out on the annual moaning

I have Liberty and Space NK. Read contents for both before buying so can't join in the moan fest unfortunately

BloodyCats · 06/12/2019 15:00

Well I have not stopped today, worked all day in a physical job and so far so good with the deodorant. Not sure if I’m nose blind so will get DH to sniff me when I get back.

BloodyCats · 06/12/2019 15:25

I passed the sniff test with flying colours. Very impressed with today’s item.

How did everyone else get on with it?

Doubleraspberry · 06/12/2019 15:31

I’m enjoying the calendar! I prefer it so far to my M&S one overall. The products are more interesting.

bellabelly · 06/12/2019 17:03

Well I have put on the deodorant, not messy like I thought it would be. Like the smell. It will be seriously tested tonight as I am going out dancing at a Christmas party. I really hope it works well or I'll be ponging on the dance floor!

bellabelly · 06/12/2019 17:06

@OKBoom3r, doesn't it take all the fun out of it if you know exactly what you are going to get?

OKBoom3r · 06/12/2019 17:08

Well, yes, that's one way of looking at it! No chance to have a good old moan. You know what you're getting, you can't whinge but nothing is a surprise

By doing it your way, you get an unpleasant disappointment each day - if this thread is anything to go by!

But it makes funny reading Grin

whatsinthebagwhatcoulditbe · 06/12/2019 17:16

It's not whinging and moaning though is it? It's just people giving their feedback on the items in the advent calendar, on a thread specifically for that purpose. I really like hearing other people's honest opinions. Not much point in a thread where everyone just says "yay" every single day.

OKBoom3r · 06/12/2019 17:18

It is moaning. Every year is the same. Everyone hates the cream/ perfume/lipstick or they're disappointed that they got a hand cream or whatever

LEELULUMPKIN · 06/12/2019 17:48

OKBoom, you ask why people bother buying this calendar?

I can only give you my reason and that is there is no way I could or would afford to buy all these high end products on the basis that I might like the smell or it might suit my skin.

The Liberty Calendar was a first year for me and I DID read what the contents were, so know roughly what is coming. I then made a conscious decision to take a gamble on the cost of the calendar in the hope that I just might find that "holy grail" product and then be able to justify the full expense.

As whatsinthebag so rightly says, we are just giving an opinion on a product that probably most of us have never heard of never mind sampled and for those who have multiple calendars, surely it is only natural to compare the costs when this bears a direct relevance to the products we have newly discovered and will go on to use.

However, I am glad that you find amusement in others disappointment even though it is not quite in the spirit of the season or this thread.

OP posts:
KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 18:03

I concur with Lee. People pay a LOT of money for calendars and much of the joy comes from the surprise element so it is a letdown if the contents aren't what you hoped for or would use. My best friend spent a lot of money buying me Net A Porter as an early Christmas present...it has been a massive letdown so far. I wish she hadn't spent so much on products I just won't use. I would never let on to her though. If there was a thread I would definitely share my feelings though.

bellabelly · 06/12/2019 18:24

Ah, well I was disappointed today because I thought on first sight that it was a big pot of moisturiser which I could really do with. But I shan't moan because the deodorant is actually lovely and I would never have picked it up in the shop. So far, I am very pleased with my mystery goodies.

OKBoom3r · 06/12/2019 19:10

@LEELULUMPKIN I'm not finding amusement in people's disappointment at all. You misunderstand me

This thread plays out every single year. It's one long moan from start to finish and this one has been no exception.

mrscampbellblackagain · 06/12/2019 19:14

I like the surprise element - it is fun! It also looks beautiful.

I had the netaporter one last year and that really wasn't great.

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 19:17

No, last year I remember people were over the moon about their Liberty calendar. It was 2017 that people were disappointed because there were three cleansers. In 2016 people were also pretty happy. What you say is false.

mrscampbellblackagain · 06/12/2019 19:19

I like the perfume but am a fan of florals.

KeithPartridge · 06/12/2019 19:19

MrsCampbell my friend recently left an abusive relationship and because I helped her she bought me the Net A Porter calendar. I REALLY wish she hadn't as she doesn't have much money and the contents so far aren't that great.😭😭😭 I will tell her I love it though and actually, because it came from her, I do.

LEELULUMPKIN · 06/12/2019 19:28

Sorry, how have I misunderstood "But it makes funny reading :) ?"

You are looking at this thread from the perspective of someone who has had a calendar before and read/participated for several years previously.

This is a first for me and many others and the thread is a place for us to share our opinions on what we think of each product.

As for it being "one long moan" you must have missed several of today's posts including my own which have stated that we are very happy with the item.

We are all different, we all like different things therefore threads like these will always go the same way as you so correctly say but your original post just seems a bit pointless and mean spirited.

Why waste your time on something that you know how is going to play out?

Oh! That's right. "It makes funny reading"
