Hi All,
Apologies if there is another thread about this, but I couldn't find it. So I thought I would start one.
Happy to get it deleted if there is one already, if not - happy unboxing, let's hear what you think :)

I love the orchid oil and will re purchase that.
To be fair- not tried everything yet.

Expo · 22/12/2019 09:54

I don’t know how anybody can be disappointed with this Liberty Advent Calendar. Do I have low standards or something? I think it is awesome. Of course there are always going to be some products you don’t like - they can’t satisfy everybody with every product.

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 10:13

The make up in particular is not universal enough for most skin tones.
I don’t think anyone is suggesting other posters have to share the same opinion.
I won’t buy next year as already explained. It’s not a criticism of anyone who feels it’s been good. Have you had in previous years?

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 10:17

Next year I might get the gift with purchase and reuse one of my old boxes (DH can fill so it’s a slight surprise!) - as well as probably trying a different one- the fortnums beauty one looked good this year.

Doubleraspberry · 22/12/2019 14:34

I haven’t, and like the PP I have enjoyed this year’s one. It’s a bit off to keep telling posters like me that we’re getting something crapper than previous years.

GinandGingerBeer · 22/12/2019 14:50

Very happy with today's nars duo.
re yesterday's masks I'm going to keep one and give the others as stocking fillers as although I love the idea of a mask, in reality I rarely get round to using them and have quite a few.
I've loved the majority of it, only a couple of things like to muscle gel stuff and sticky eyeshadow that I've not been bothered about.

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 15:00

Didn’t mean it like that doublerasoberrythe make up items which I think were popular are really only suitable for light skin tones imo, so yes I am disappointed. In previous years, the make was more generic. I’m glad most are enjoying it. I purchased this for my good friend and she loves it - it’s very subjective.
I didn’t realise only positive reviews were welcome on here.

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 15:01

I really don’t think you getting anything crap - I just think there are quite a few items I can’t use.

Expo · 22/12/2019 15:55

But isn’t that normal with an advent calendar that there will be some stuff you wouldn’t normally use. Some that you are surprised about and some that you write off. I have lighter skin but don’t use blusher - but I imagine some will love it and I will regift it. I think that if you are expecting to be able to use everything in an advent calendar then you will be disappointed. I think it’s a little spoilt to write this one off honestly. Just give away those you don’t like and make someone else happy Grin

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 15:59

I was really just being honest. I’ll bow out from thread. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the days.

Doubleraspberry · 22/12/2019 18:29

It’s not that you can’t say whether you like individual items or not. But you challenged someone who was happy with the calendar by asking if they’d had previous ones, which was what I found off, as I said.

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 18:45

I really don’t think I challenged them. I was genuinely interested in the comparison.

5 of the make up items aren’t suitable - this is a lot in comparison to previous years. I can’t use 20% of the calendar, which is why I won’t buy next year.

We’re obviously looking at this from a different perspective.

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 18:47

The 20% is the make up, there are other things which I’m not interested, but as someone else rightly said, you expect not to like everything, I would expect some of the make up to be more neutral.

Doubleraspberry · 22/12/2019 18:59

Then I apologise if it wasn’t meant as a challenge.

The lipstick personally didn’t work for me either. It feels easier to give that as a gift though than a conventional lipstick given the crayon element.

Expo · 22/12/2019 19:07

@Pomegranatepompom but it’s cool because next year your DH is going to make you one. You are super lucky to have such a nice DH. Did we get 5 make up items? The black mascara should be ok no?

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 19:14

Yes re mascara. Now I will sound spilt as I got the liberty cracker and the sane mascara was in there.
I wonder how feasible it would be to do two cake sets, one with make up suitable fir darker toned skins far:
Hourglass - veil
Lip crayon
Bronzer
Mascara
Eyeshadow

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 19:15

*sound spoilt

Pomegranatepompom · 22/12/2019 19:15

Two calendars not 2 cake sets !

TerpsichoreanMuse · 23/12/2019 07:17

Today's is lovely, though not something I'll be repurchasing at £70!

Pomegranatepompom · 23/12/2019 08:51

Love this oil- exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for.

Chickydoo · 23/12/2019 09:10

My favourite item from last year was the votary moisturiser. I have re-purchased several times. I have high hopes for this.

Very happy with today's! I loved their cream last year too! Looking forward to trying.

Sarcelle · 23/12/2019 12:33

I am thinking of buying this next years. Saving money in a jar especially. Can I ask a stupid question. They seem to sell out quickly online, and I saw pictures of queues at Libertys - so how did you get yours? Were you on a mailing list etc?

GinandGingerBeer · 23/12/2019 14:41

Love this, mine has leaked a bit though. To be honest the votary cleansing oil did too (which was in it two years ago I think). Everybody's did!

jeremypaxo · 23/12/2019 18:40

@Sarcelle they didn't sell out this year but have in previous years. They usually announce what date they'll go on sale a few weeks in advance so you can make a note. Then they're on sale online at midnight that day and in store from 8am. The best thing to do is probably follow them on Twitter and keep an eye out from September onwards.
