Which wedding dress?

Torn between 2! Which would you go for? The strapless with lace appliqués in or the all over lace dress with straps?

I am slightly leaning towards the strapless however I’ve slight reservations because the sample’s ill fitting around the boobs and I’m hoping it will look better when it’s made to fit me, but I can’t be sure it will look right. The dress with straps I do love but I’m just not sure it has the ‘wow’ factor.

Would love an impartial opinion

I prefer the one with straps of the first two but I agree with PP - you have a lovely figure and a column style dress might suit you more, or even a grecian style column dress.

I remember having a very fixed idea of what would work for me and my friend insisted on dragging me round wedding shops to try on styles I hadn't considered. She was right - the one which "just worked" was nothing like the style I'd originally focused on. If you haven't already done it its worth trying a few on in styles you have rejected before trying.

Strapless

rosedream · 11/09/2019 22:15

The first one with straps isn't flattering on top. There's something wrong with the cut of the straps and bodice. However straps look better but a different cut I think.

Summer23 · 11/09/2019 23:09

The 2nd is lovely, strapless is perfect for a destination wedding.

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 23:32

Arggghhh! I just don’t know. Right now it’s between these two.

The first one. Straps always wins over no straps! I don’t know why so many wedding dresses are strapless. It rarely if ever looks as good as it’s meant to and can lead to some embarrassing situations!

GlamGiraffe · 11/09/2019 23:38

Strapless is a wow.
The first one is just a dress.
Personally I'd say the the strapless every time. When the dresses are made and correctly adjusted and have cups and sausages if necessary sewn in they look totally different.
Irrespective of how they fit there, if they were both perfect fits which would you choose?
At the end of the day they will be a perfect fit and small things can also be adjusted. You have to go with your feelings not with what makes sense!

FeeFee832 · 11/09/2019 23:53

Second!!! Good seamstress needed!

FeeFee832 · 11/09/2019 23:54

Defo 2. First one is a bit frumpy.
Second looks more expensive

Gooseysgirl · 11/09/2019 23:55

@popsadaisy that's simply stunning!

GlamGiraffe · 11/09/2019 23:56

Sorry OP. full thread wasnt showing. Have now seen it all. Having seen full thread instead of just two responses! I would say go back with just one person and try on the two strapless ones you are thinking about.
Think about how you feel as soon as you put them on and see yourself. Feel how you move in the dress and how it moves with you.
I had a really stunning dress. I did exactly what people here are saying not to. Once I found a dress I felt really good in, but that had bit I hated, I had the dress done without those bits. I saw last them. I got a totally different outfit. Same fabric, same bodice, same shape, totally different effect as I had all the detailing removed from the skirt and the fabric in the back changed. Totally simplified. It was the same dress just stripped back. It was the dress I felt me in. It was of course what I looked like but it was much more how I felt .
Of course there are pictures of you're wedding day, but ultimately it us a day you live and a day you remember and i still remember exactly what my wedding dress felt like. It felt like me.
Choose one that's comfy as well as the essence of you. A good shop will make sure it fits.
I had cups sewn in mine and "sausages" which ate like fabric ones at the bottom of the cups to give a subtle underneath fill without making you look like Pamela Anderson!
If it's well fitted it will stay up easily- make sure you have a final fitting at the end and use bra tape all over you!!
I'd leave last minute alterations like addition of lace etc for sure until you see the dress fitting correctly.

1 looks like you're 20 years older.
Sarahwslker · 12/09/2019 07:37

Hi, I think the second one without the straps is stunning the first one is frumpy. I have been married for 25 years, I chose strapless. Also the strapless one will fit better when fitted. I absolutely loved it.

popsadaisy · 12/09/2019 12:35

Thank you @Gooseysgirl Smile

fikel · 12/09/2019 12:37

Second one much more stylish, it’s gorgeous on you

Tweefutom · 12/09/2019 12:39

One with straps definitely x

LaurenSarah22 · 12/09/2019 12:43

The first one is amazing!

Enko · 12/09/2019 12:44

I like the one with the straps. Dd2 (age 19) likes the strapless one.

I don't get the thing about fishtail being done to death?! I haven't seen that many of them.

It's a beautiful style and really suits you and you want to look back at the photos and think I loved that style dress.

You're not gonna be comparing your photos to anybody else's, it will just be your wedding photos?! So wear the style of dress that you love. I love a fish tail, it really suits your figure and you can carry off the strapless really well.

tictac86 · 12/09/2019 13:02

Strapless is super lovely. It really slims not that I think you need it.

simplekindoflife · 12/09/2019 13:02

I think you should try some more shops and try more dresses on.

cranstonmanor · 12/09/2019 13:04

I think that strapless makes you look wide up front. At first I thought you were overweight but when I zoomed in on the picture you had a nice waist and slim arms. Have you tried something with a sleeve? I think you can find a better dress for your figure, you have a nice waist.

forgivemeimnew · 12/09/2019 18:23

If you can get the second one to fit properly around the busy then definitely that one - if not then your 3rd choice. The first dress is beautiful but I don’t think it has the same wow. I hope you manage to get sorted.

Mumtobe193 · 12/09/2019 18:32

Tried on the strapless enzoani again and felt it was a beautiful dress but felt a little self conscious about the chest area. Tried on the Stella York and there wasn’t anything I could find fault with and in the end it was the dress I felt most like ‘me’ in. The lady in the boutique remarked that I looked miles more confident and relaxed in the Stella York. Plus when I tried some lace off the shoulder straps with this dress it looked like it was always meant to be part of the dress. So I’ve gone with that. No going back now! I’m pleased with my choice. Didn’t make the mistake of taking pictures this time because I knew I’d obsess over them 🙈 can’t wait to wear this beautiful dress!

First one. The top of the second one looks like a plain white strapless bra...
