Which wedding dress?

Torn between 2! Which would you go for? The strapless with lace appliqués in or the all over lace dress with straps?

I am slightly leaning towards the strapless however I’ve slight reservations because the sample’s ill fitting around the boobs and I’m hoping it will look better when it’s made to fit me, but I can’t be sure it will look right. The dress with straps I do love but I’m just not sure it has the ‘wow’ factor.

Would love an impartial opinion

The fact that you want to make minor design alterations to each dress also indicates that you are not quite happy with either one .

WhoKnewBeefStew · 11/09/2019 17:06

First one for me. The top of the first one looks a bit severe

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 17:11

@LimpidPools I’m a C cup so not particularly top heavy no. I wear strapless bra’s whenever I wear a thin strapped top and never feel I have to hoik it up as my boobs aren’t particularly heavy. Although I have breastfed 2 kids so they aren’t particularly perky either and they do tend to have a mind of their own 😂 but as long as the top fits well and is structured enough to hold the girls in place then I should be good 👍

I’ve also heard great things about the strapless wonderbra so if I feel I need the girls held a little more firmly in place I might try that.

Strapless.
I agree with those who think the other one looks a bit frumpy

GlasshouseStoneThrower · 11/09/2019 17:16

You have a lovely figure! I prefer the one with straps, it's lovely.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/09/2019 17:17

You have a fab figure.
Of the two I would say the second, however..when you see the right dress you will 'know', you won't ask random mumsnetters which suggests to me you haven't found your dress yet.

Thirtyysomething · 11/09/2019 17:18

Definitely the strapless one for me, style wise. It looks beautiful.

You could ask for straps to be fitted to it as well? My friend just did something similar as she didn’t want strapless.

loutypips · 11/09/2019 17:19

I love the first one (with straps!) from experience, I'd go for the straps. Avoids the feeling of dress slipping down all day!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 11/09/2019 17:21

I think the fact that you want to alter both of the. In some way means that neither is “the one”. When I tried my wedding dress on I cried-it just felt right immediately. Keep looking. Don’t settle and adapt.

DaffyDuck473 · 11/09/2019 17:33

Definitely the 2nd one in the first picture.
I also like the 3rd picture you posted.
I agree the 1st pic is a bit frumpy.

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 17:36

See everybody says that when you find the right dress, you just know.

But I’m not the kind of person who just intuitively ‘knows’ anything. I overthink and overanalyse everything, so even if a dress ‘felt’ right I would still pick at minute details and my head would talk my heart out of it. Think I’m a bit scared of commitment 😂

See I could look at more dresses but I’ve already tried on roughly 20 dresses and I think trying on more might just confuse me further.

Out of all the dresses I’ve tried the strapless mermaid is as close to perfect as I’ve got, I think the off the shoulder straps will give it that edge and when it fits properly it should hopefully look 10 out of 10. I think I made a huge mistake taking photos because all I’ve done is pick them apart and forgot how the dress made me feel when I was actually wearing it

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 11/09/2019 17:39

That’s it-go with how you felt and stop picking at it. I tried on about 50 dresses before the one

Loubuttonx · 11/09/2019 17:43

The second is gorgeous! Definitely not a ‘mum of 2’ dress to me! It’s fantastic

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 17:44

That’s probably part of the reason the bridal shops advise against you taking photos.

& of course am ill fitting sample is never gonna look as good as a dress that is made to measure

They both look amazing! Personally would go with the first one and congratulations!!

moonpiggle · 11/09/2019 17:48

Strapless. Beautiful and your figure looks awesome.

RhymesWithOrange · 11/09/2019 18:19

Sorry, I don't like either of them! You have a lovely figure and a great waist. I think something that shows it off more would look nicer.

But really what matters is what you feel beautiful in.

@RhymesWithOrange that’s okay, I know the fishtail style isn’t to everyone’s taste.

The dresses you’ve shown me are really pretty, but I just feel the fuller skirt is more suited to a wedding at a castle or country manor and not so much a laidback destination wedding IFYSWIM?

OP posts:
AnneKipanki · 11/09/2019 18:34

Ooh Rhymes , I like those .

AnneKipanki · 11/09/2019 18:35

Fishtail dresses are tricky to walk in . Are you going to be on a beach ?

AnneKipanki · 11/09/2019 18:37

You do have to give a bit of a “ kick “ when walking in them AND practice before hand so you do not look like you have escaped from a chorus line .

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 18:42

@AnneKipanki no we won’t be going on a beach the ceremony is a little Cypriot chapel and the reception is at a restaurant roof terrace.

Atlasta · 11/09/2019 18:43

Strapless

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 18:43

I definitely have my heart set on a fishtail style so if I have to give it a little kick when I walk I don’t mind 😂

OP posts:
AnneKipanki · 11/09/2019 18:43

Good news . A fishtail would be a nuisance in the sand .
