Which wedding dress?

Torn between 2! Which would you go for? The strapless with lace appliqués in or the all over lace dress with straps?

I am slightly leaning towards the strapless however I’ve slight reservations because the sample’s ill fitting around the boobs and I’m hoping it will look better when it’s made to fit me, but I can’t be sure it will look right. The dress with straps I do love but I’m just not sure it has the ‘wow’ factor.

Would love an impartial opinion

You look amazing in both but the one with straps is my fave!

peachgreen · 11/09/2019 16:01

Both lovely, but 1 looks more natural on you, if that makes sense.

DementorsKiss · 11/09/2019 16:01

the one with straps looks more comfortable

userabcname · 11/09/2019 16:02

Oh strapless!! When it's properly fitted it makes all the difference! It's a beautiful dress and definitely has the wow factor over the first.

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 16:07

Very mixed bag of opinions here. You’re not making it any easier here for me ladies 🙈

I should also mention that the wedding is abroad. So which would be most appropriate for a wedding in the sun?

Also worth mentioning that I’m planning on adding lace off the shoulder detachable straps to the strapless one if I go with that, and if I go for the one with straps I’m planning on asking the seamstress to make the straps off the shoulder and add a little extra lace to them to make them thicker.

Was also thinking of adding a little lace trim around the sweetheart neckline of the strapless one, to give the boobies a little more coverage and soften the neckline slightly. Or will this ruin the look of the dress?

Neither of them to seem to sit/fit well at the boobs, but assuming that can be fixed the strapless is fabulous and showcases your amazing figure. I think the one with the straps is a tiny bit frumpy.

simplekindoflife · 11/09/2019 16:12

The second one. Once fitted, I'm sure it will look amazing. Very timeless and very flattering.

The first one is ever so slightly frumpy... Blush

Bumbags · 11/09/2019 16:13

Truthfully I think you could do much better so I’m vetoing both.

simplekindoflife · 11/09/2019 16:14

Could you get one similar to the second one but with a straight neckline rather than a sweetheart one?

Rystall · 11/09/2019 16:16

Definitely No 2. I’m not normally a fan of strapless but the shape suits you so well. It’s a very glamorous dress. There’s something very matronly / frumpy about 1st one.... sorry 🙈

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 16:22

Now that I look at that first dress, I think I definitely agree it does look slightly frumpy.

I’m a mum of two, I live in leggings, nursing bras, baggy cardis and usually have a baby sick stain somewhere on me most days. Fed up of feeling mumsy and the last thing I want to feel on my wedding day is ‘frumpy’

I’m only 27 and I never ever wear anything even remotely sexy. Think my minds made up think I need to get out of my comfort zone and go for the slinkier number otherwise I’ll always regret going for the ‘safer’ option.

I prefer the straps, looks fab on you. The strapless, fishtail has been done to death. The one with the straps has the wow factor and is much classier, plus it'll be easier to wear, no yanking it up Wink

emelsie · 11/09/2019 16:29

Number 2, You have lovely arms and shoulders and the second dress shows them off !

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 11/09/2019 16:29

Strapless one is gorgeous. I think it will look lovely once it’s fitted.

mumofbun · 11/09/2019 16:29

I would definitely say the one with straps has the wow factor! I would go for that one if you're worried about strapless as you don't want to feel worried on the day :) You look amazing in both though

StoatofDisarray · 11/09/2019 16:30

First one is much more flattering.

GettingMarriedOnTheBeach · 11/09/2019 16:33

Number one

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 16:34

See I do kind of agree that the strapless fishtail has been done to death, and although the straps do make the first one a little more unique I feel like I’ve seen the all over lace fishtail dress a thousand times (strapless and with straps) and I do prefer the lace appliqués on the bodice of the strapless and think it makes it a slightly different than a lot of the mermaid style dresses in the shops at the moment. I am definitely going to be adding some detachable lace off the shoulder straps so I’m hoping that will give the dress that little extra something and make it a little less ‘generic’

2!

With the added straps but nothing added it the neckline.

You look bloody fabulous in it.

Mumtobe193 · 11/09/2019 16:42

Just to throw a spanner in the works this was another serious contender in the shop, but my bridesmaids managed to put me off it (they thought it was a bit ‘generic, done to death etc etc) thoughts on this dress? Plus I tried it on in blush and that colour does absolutely nothing for me, however it does come in Ivory.

Second! Stunning!

smemorata · 11/09/2019 16:47

No 1!

LimpidPools · 11/09/2019 16:58

It being much too long makes complete sense. Glad we sorted that out Grin

I don't usually like strapless dresses much, but you're planning to add some anyway and in this case I don't think it's even necessary.

The important thing is that you're not spending the day hoiking it up or spilling out of it, but I don't think you're particularly top heavy anyway, are you?

The all-over lace does look somehow frumpy. Actually, it looks very stiff and I think that's a large part of the problem.

Number 3, it's hard to tell without seeing you in it, but from the photo it wasn't an immediate wow and hopefully your bridesmaids have some idea what they're talking about.

Above all, you seem to have totally talked yourself into the strapless. I'm sure they will be able to tailor it properly (just don't let them make it too tight!) And so I think you should go for that.

IndigoSkye · 11/09/2019 17:03

I like the second one without straps! I love lace, you will look amazing in either dress.

AnneKipanki · 11/09/2019 17:05

Of the first 2 , I prefer number 1 .

However , like a previous poster I think there is a better dress out there for you .
