Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

It is a very good deal. Has anyone seen or picked up the Aldi Boxing Day to New Year beauty calendar? I did to cover the end of December gap before Jadvent Blush

OldGrinch · 22/11/2019 06:24

Not seen the Aldi one going there later so will have a look. After today it's ONLY 8 DAYS TO GO!!!!!! Grin

OldGrinch · 22/11/2019 06:26

So excited. I need to get out more Blush

Pomley · 22/11/2019 08:10

The aldi one looks really good, although I already have loads of Lacura stuff so trying to be sensible. I still need to find a calendar! I bought my mum a No7 one, and I bought an Opi one but changed my mind and sent it back. I think now it's going to just be a case of what's left rather than what I would like.

RenardeRenarde · 22/11/2019 09:55

The John Lewis advent calendar has dropped to £105... do I go for it now do we think?
I’m debating buying it for my mum, if you were a 50-something lady who liked luxury items would you be happy to receive it? I know I would be but don’t want to make a pricey mistake

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 22/11/2019 10:06

I would do it @RenardeRenarde
Snap it up quickly, before it's gone. So many others have been left disappointed, waiting for them to reduce, and then they're gone.

You know your mum best, but I think it would be a beautiful present.

I 'only' bought one this year - the Debenhams one. Really looking forward to December 1st 🎅🏼 Grin

RenardeRenarde · 22/11/2019 10:36

Thanks Always, I’ve just ordered Smile
I missed all the calendars I was most interested in this year, I got a great deal on glossybox last year which I think coloured my expectations for this time round. I did get the Birchbox when it was on offer but tbh it hadn’t been on my “hit list” - the JL one looks great though and I know I’d be annoyed with myself if it sold out.

Anyone still holding their nerve on anything specific?

Bansku19 · 22/11/2019 10:44

John Lewis calendar looks tempting but I just spent enough for a Lego set bundle in John Lewis. So I skip this one.

ajandjjmum · 22/11/2019 12:20

I had the JL one for Christmas last year - DH paid £80 but it was a real search to find it. I'm older than your Mum RenardeRenarde, and I loved it.

I actually have a £50 JL voucher from last year, so think I'm going to treat myself - thanks for flagging up the discount!

So that'll be December and January sorted - and this morning I've received a lovely package from my brother, a gin advent calendar. Feeling really spoilt this year!

OldGrinch · 22/11/2019 12:53

I had JL calander last year and loved it. Am in 50s. cost of it went down drastically on Black Friday last year

FadingStar · 22/11/2019 13:24

Ooohhhh gin advent calendar. I would guzzle that in one go.😂

Not really waiting on any more...think I am good to go.

RenardeRenarde · 22/11/2019 13:37

Gulp... Fenwicks calendar reduced by £50 (plus free delivery) with code ADVENT2019
Apologies if this leads to any enabling!

Butterymuffin · 22/11/2019 14:48

It's all gone a bit Deal or No Deal now, hasn't it? I absolutely definitely cannot afford another until I am paid at the end of the month, and I do have enough (2 Dec, 1 Twixmas (Aldi) and 1 Jadvent). So I will have to be the test case for holding out to see if there are any left to be further reduced in very late November or early December.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 22/11/2019 18:29

I refuse to let myself be drawn by anymore - other than the Amazon one if it goes to £30 on Black Friday as it has other years.

I refuse. I utterly absolutely and totally refuse!

unless any bargains tempt me further Grin

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 22/11/2019 18:40

(that's if it comes back - amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Beauty-Advent-Calendar-2019/dp/B07XQKBQZK/ref=pd_sbs_194_6/261-2173247-9407916?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07XQKBQZK&pd_rd_r=6fe413f4-823e-4803-985c-cc483520116b&pd_rd_w=2aerx&pd_rd_wg=cvSPM&pf_rd_p=d1e4d46f-5a98-49f9-8eac-48f631e3cbd2&pf_rd_r=Q818JVXYWRQ5YSDAHKE6&psc=1&refRID=Q818JVXYWRQ5YSDAHKE6 )

It always makes me laugh looking at the bottom at those trying to sell sold out advent calendars for much more money via Amazon Marketplace

There's a Amazon for £90, Soap and Glory £65, No7 for £90, Cult Beauty for a bargainous £399.99(!) which is more than the contents are worth!

PrincessWatermelon · 22/11/2019 21:39

@Bansku19 I've bought the M&S 12 day thing. Mainly cos I love the night cream, so the rest seems almost like loads of freebies! I wonder if the £96 is the value or the RRP...

notangelinajolie · 22/11/2019 23:55

I just checked Amazon and it's gone up to £89
I'm betting they will be selling it for half price £45 on Black Friday which is actually more than it was last week.

Bonkers Confused

Being strong and not buying JL. If it goes down again, I will buy. Not loosing any sleep over missing out, I have bough enough calendars recently. It's in the hands of the Gods

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 23/11/2019 09:12

Amazon isn't the seller at 89, its a market place seller chsncjng their arm at the hope of ripping someone off

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 23/11/2019 09:12

Chancing *

PrincessWatermelon · 23/11/2019 09:59

I don't understand the Amazon one. I've not looked properly, but I'm sure I saw a Head and Shoulders product and a couple of Simple ones. And loads of sheet masks. It just doesn't seem like the products would be worth £89!!

Butterymuffin · 23/11/2019 12:18

I got last year's Amazon one for £30 and IMO it was ok for that price but I wouldn't have paid more.

FadingStar · 23/11/2019 12:37

Just had another look at the Amazon one...it doesn't ship to NI so I can't get it anyway but initially I thought it was quite good, definitely in comparison to last year. But having seen the amazing standard of other ones this year it isn't quite up there. If it was £30 or so then I would say it would be an ok buy.

SymphonyofShadows · 23/11/2019 13:35

I’ve bought the Formula one in M&S too, as I use the cream, so thanks for the link. The peel stuff is good too. It was in the advent a couple of years ago and I really liked it.

Freshstart40 · 23/11/2019 14:13

I just bought the Lumene from All Beauty site for £55 using discount code ADVENTBEAUTY

Freshstart40 · 23/11/2019 14:15

BEAUTYADVENT is the correct code!
Thank you @RenardeRenarde for the tip! I now have three, M&S, Rituals abd Lumene. Must stop now it's ridiculous but I'm addicted...
