Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

I wanted Cult Beauty and missed it as I was in work when it went live and sold out 😭

So I settled for M&S. Which I’ve had and enjoyed before.

Then I saw that the Debenhams one was relatively cheap and included some bits I’d wanted to try for ages. So I ordered it.

And this morning I saw the Space NK GWP was back so I’ve caved on that too. I nearly went for it last year and by the time I decided I could justify it it had gone.

In my defence I usually make up Beauty boxes for various relatives as a Christmas gift and I haven’t been organised enough to do it this year but there may be some advent bits that can contribute now.

I had the JL calendar last year - DH got it for me in their sale at 50% off, as I was enjoying the M & S one (my first!) so much. I opened it in January, and it was lovely to get up to open my calendar on those cold, dark mornings!

I plan to do the same this year - or at least, get another calendar for January, when I see something I like in the sale.

For those (including myself) feeling guilty - I bought DS a whisky advent calendar yesterday - that puts these prices into perspective! Grin

If anyone is near Gunwharf Quays, Molton Browns is half price at £82.50 at the moment.

banskuwansku · 05/11/2019 13:11

My M&S calendar just arrived. I am excited :). I have been thinking of buying second one from sales but I just don't know how I manage to use all of them. I ordered origins face cream with the calendar and I have Elizabeth Arden cream coming in (Debenhams gift offer). And I have to finish my Clinique one. I don't use any hand or body lotions. Minis are handy for travelling but I still have some left.

plightofthealbatross · 05/11/2019 16:01

My M&S calendar arrived today ... will tuck it away so i'm not tempted. :)

FadingStar · 05/11/2019 18:58

Eatsleep I'm doing that...I'm making up gift boxes for a few friends with a few of the pieces I don't think I will use.

LEELULUMPKIN · 05/11/2019 20:33

Me too re: the gift boxes. I don't use lipstick, nail polish or eyeliner so they will definitely be regifted.

Butterymuffin · 05/11/2019 21:10

As an alternative to the gift boxes, there are usually offers to swap items on the M&S day by day opening thread. So you might be able to exchange your item you'll never use.

PrincessWatermelon · 05/11/2019 21:38

My M&S one was due for delivery today but hasn't come. My pyjamas did! So I know they got the order and hoping for tomorrow.

Please do say if anyone sees the JL or others on good discounts. I'd love one for January, but really can not justify the costs if it's not in a sale! Thanks

SmellyToes1 · 05/11/2019 22:43

They’ve cancelled my M&S one and I’m gutted. I stayed up and ordered it before 3am on the 31st which makes it even more annoying

Sammi38 · 05/11/2019 23:00

For those that missed out on the look fantastic calendar, they are doing a beauty chest for £100 with contents worth over £360. There’s 10 items and they’re all full sizes. I’m dithering wether to get it or the space NK edit.

Have they said why they’ve cancelled your calendar smellytoes? You must have been one of the first ones to order it.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 05/11/2019 23:33

They may still have some instore if you still want to give it a go. (I'd def send them an email asking why, as Sammi says, you must have been one of the first, you should have had it delivered! :( ). My local store has at least 20 out on display as of 1pm this afternoon (can't beat m&s butter chicken curry or their scampi) as I cut through to the foodhall.

plightofthealbatross · 06/11/2019 00:38

I ordered my M&S calendar at 7am on the morning it was released, so you definitely should have had it. I would email them asking for an explanation.

Horehound · 06/11/2019 01:02

I bought the m and s one to give to my mum as a thank you for being very supportive to me recently. She came round this afternoon and told me she had been to m and s. I raised a wee eyebrow as if to say "oh might you have got me the m and s calendar?!" And she raised and eyebrow back to say "maybe!"
Haha so I have got it for her and she has got it for me. She actually got it for me last year and I really enjoyed it. I actually bought the Debenhams one which came today..intending that to be for myself.

M and s sent my items in three separate packages. 2 came today and the calendar should come tomorrow.
But now I'm wondering if I should give my Debenhams one to mum and I'll have the m and s one from her and maybe I can give the m and s one I bought to someone else.
Or I keep Debenhams one and the m and s one from mum and give mum the m and s one I wanted to give her.

What do you think? She's 59

Butterymuffin · 06/11/2019 04:52

Keep the Debenhams one! You can always do my Jadvent thing. And you and your mum can give each other the M&S ones.

banskuwansku · 06/11/2019 07:00

I got yesterday two parcels, one was the M&S calendar and other in separate packing was the £25 cream.

Horehound · 06/11/2019 08:29

Not sure I can hold back until January for the Debenhams one! Yes ok I'll keep it and still give mum the m and s one. Guess we can message each other about it on each day :)

ajandjjmum · 06/11/2019 09:21

Keep one for January - it's such a nice treat to have a calendar to open on those cold, dark mornings!

Housewife2010 · 06/11/2019 09:29

Sammi38
My Look Fantastic chest arrived yesterday. It is excellent value and I'll use all the products.

youngestisapsycho · 06/11/2019 10:19

I'm loving the Liberty calendar... I'm opening this month as am away in December. I've used everything so far!
DD is opening the £99 Body shop one.. that has great stuff too.

Butterymuffin · 06/11/2019 10:31

I'm definitely looking for one for January (and I already have two for December, M&S and
Glossybox) but I am going to hold my nerve now and wait at least till Black Friday before buying the third. I don't have my heart set on a particular one which helps.

littlepooch · 06/11/2019 11:59

I want one for January too. But I need a bargain! 😂

havingtochangeusernameagain · 06/11/2019 14:37

If anyone is in or near Winchester, the M&S there had loads of the advent calendars yesterday.

Sammi38 · 06/11/2019 15:27

@Housewife2010 I caved and ordered the beauty chest. Should be here end of the week. Excited! I’ll be inundated with beauty products.

Just to add, M and S Blackpool have lots of calendars still in stock.

Housewife2010 · 06/11/2019 16:08

Sammi38 I'm sure you'll love it. Let me know which lipstick you get - I got Fawn. My DD is going to love the empty chest to store her stationery in.
