Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

Oh I could buy the Nuxe advent from M&S to qualify for the M&S advent. Mind you I have just bought two Nuxe products to qualify for a "free" gift set.

Butterymuffin · 23/10/2019 17:14

I'm buying new knickers and the full size of their primer that I like and am about to run out of to get the M&S calendar.

Anyone bought this yet? I’m yet to be properly convinced by Cowshed and it looks pretty pricey for a trial.

@Butterymuffin I know you are right - I just feel a bit bad about it as it is very much an indulgence and DH is not into this kind of thing at all so thinks it's all a bit extravagant. Which is guess it is! Leaning towards M&S though as you are right - I do love the mix of products. And if I am going to be extravagant I might as well do it properly!

TattiePants · 23/10/2019 18:27

I was going to wait for Black Friday but (if I've calculated it correctly) the Debenhams calendar currently works out as £25ish. It's usually £45 if you spend a minimum of £15 on another item but there's currently 10% off. The calendar includes a voucher for £5 off future beauty purchases and you get £10 of extra beauty points when you spend £50. It includes a full size Ruby Woo lipstick, travel size Nars Orgasm blusher, Benefit mascara and Seche Vitae top coat that I'd buy anyway.

There's also 10% off L'Occitane, Bare Minerals, Clarins, Rituals and Ciate calendars.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 23/10/2019 23:01

I may have gone ahead and bought it - it's your fault Tattiepants! Grin

It's been a week and half already and it's only Wednesday. I've turned down a night out on Friday because I'm not feeling up to it already so this is a bit less than I would have spent if I'd gone - so bonus :)

I didn't go for the extra spend to get the extra beauty points, purely because I don't have a debenhams store anywhere nearby and it's my first ever purchase from them so it's not like I'd be in to use said points. If anyone else is interested the free delivery code for the advent calendar and a cheaper item (I bought a foundation pump for £2 i think to make it £4 which then was 40.50 with the extra 10%) is SHA5

I'm so easily influenced....!

Belindabelle · 24/10/2019 08:04

Amazon Calendar out now for £40.

whyamidoingthis · 24/10/2019 08:36

Any beauty spend brings it to half price so a €5 eye pencil does the job. Unfortunately the extra points are only added on for full price spends.

whyamidoingthis · 24/10/2019 08:37

You lot are a really bad influence. I have the glossybox one and the thought of more than 1 had not entered my head. I'm just off to get the debenhams one now too.

TattiePants · 24/10/2019 09:22

@CottonHeadedNinyMuggins sorry for being a bad influence but it sounds like you deserve it! I bought it based on the products I already use but I've looked at the other brands and there's Elemis, Filorga, Philosophy, Philip Kingsley so I'm very excited now!

@whyamidoingthis I don't know where I got the £15 spend from (I've been looking at too many calendars and probably mixed them up) but I've definitely had the extra points added to my beauty account, in fact I think they've added too many. I spent £60 yesterday so expected 1,180 points but they've actually added 2,180! I'll wait and see if it corrected. I may have to treat myself to the Bare Minerals calendar or some Narciso Rodriguez perfume!

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 24/10/2019 09:29

Hahaha please don't be sorry, I'm excited too! Thank you for the heads up my lovely ❤️❤️😘

Writersblock2 · 24/10/2019 10:02

I can’t justify the Debenhams but I really want the Ruby Woo!

FadingStar · 24/10/2019 10:19

Debenhams has Filorga Time Filler. I got that in a calendar last year and loved it so much I bough the full size. It just vanishes fine lines and gives your skin a beautiful smooth canvas for make up.

FadingStar · 24/10/2019 10:21

The Amazon one looks good - won't deliver to NI though so that's me out. 😭

whyamidoingthis · 24/10/2019 10:28

@TattiePants - but I've definitely had the extra points added to my beauty account, in fact I think they've added too many.

You probably got my points then, as they didn't add them on for me! Mind you, I bought it this morning as I decided to sleep on it so maybe the offer is over? I did check the terms and conditions though and it said only applies to full price purchases. Maybe the UK and Ireland sites are different. I bought it on the Irish one.

shinny · 24/10/2019 10:48

Ive bought the M&S one for the past 2 years and was going to give it a miss this year as Ive got lots of products left. However Ive made a good effort to use up as much as poss and think there will be room in bathroom cupboard for another few items.....however now I fancy both the Amazon one AND the Debenhams one as well. 3 is too many isn't it?? Not sure how I can justify 3 calendars.....any ideas??

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 24/10/2019 11:14

LOL at you @shinny ! Halloween Grin

I'm doing exactly the same thing, I've been frantically using up last years - last night I used moisturiser and L'occitane handcream that were in the Debenhams calendar, and this weekend I plan on finally lighting the candle WineHalloween Grin
Just to make room for my new one Halloween Confused

As much as I LOVE them, I couldn't justify 3. You'll be overwhelmed with too much unnecessary crap stuff and it would probably make better financial sense to treat yourself to one full sized item of your favourite thing in the calendar.

shinny · 24/10/2019 11:35

mmmmmm not quite the answer I wanted!!!!

However, I dont know how to choose between them as I think 2 is ok.....can sort of pretend share/lend/half give one to DD...…

Maybe Amazon and Debenhams as then dont have to buy unnecessary M&S stuff to get their one...…..

How to choose how to choose...….

FadingStar · 24/10/2019 11:42

I wouldn't worry Shinny. Both calendars are a good bit cheaper than many others...you could have bought just one calendar for double the money. And you will be getting a years with out of them by the sounds of it.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 24/10/2019 11:44

I think 2 is fine. I had 2 last year - the 12 day Charlotte Tilbury one for the last 12 days of November, and the Debenhams one for December.
Even I draw the line with 3 😂
Although I have 3 kids and I've bought them one each too, so that might be a factor Halloween Wink

Good luck deciding!

Sammi38 · 24/10/2019 11:56

Think I might have to partake in the Amazon one. I do use a lot of the products in the calendar. £40 is a bargain.

shinny · 24/10/2019 12:06

Years of use indeed!

I am going to get Amazon and Debenhams and will upgrade next year I think. Looking forward to the discussion threads!

dizzygirl1 · 24/10/2019 12:36

I managed to get my hands on a Holland and barret advent calender for my DD. I spent time pondering whether I should get 2 (for both of us) or go for completely different options (I've neve had a beauty Advent calender) I took 2 weeks and they sold out online, my nearest shop, the local city--no where to find one and I kept being told there were no more! I tried the local one today and got their last one!
I did look at the No7, Debenhams and M&S for me but I'm worried it will be a waste of money as I don't wear make up a lot. 🙄

ajandjjmum · 24/10/2019 12:43

dizzy
DD bought me the M & S one last year, and I honestly thought it would be a total waste of time - although I obviously appreciated the thought!
I LOVED it - bounced out of bed every morning to see what my surprise would be.
I don't wear much make-up, but there is skincare/perfume etc., and that I didn't like, DD welcomed!
Treat yourself.
