Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

Anyone else sat in the background waiting for a cheaper one? Some of these are serious 😳😳😳

Writersblock2 · 19/10/2019 10:50

@Baxdream - what type and price are you looking for? Maybe we can help.

The M&S one is seriously the best value at its price I think. You do have to spend in store too, but you can get a refund on the additional spend and keep the calendar. Or do what I do and get the kids new pyjamas at the same time.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 20/10/2019 08:09

There are cheaper technic ones etc for £10-20 and there's a wilkos one for under a tenner.

Or is it the branded ones you're after cheaper? 😊

Baxdream · 20/10/2019 08:35

I think my budget is about £50 so I think I'm likely to go for m and s.
Some of these just look unbelievable but the price is insane!

WeCameToDance · 20/10/2019 08:51

Im lurking. I have my eye on the look fantastic one but if I remember correctly it was reduced on black friday last year and I will be annoyed at myself if I buy it now and it is cheaper at a later date. However, I will also be gutted if it sells out by then. I mean in a perfect world I would have got the cult beauty one very jealous of all you who got one but spending too long dithering put paid to that.

youngestisapsycho · 20/10/2019 09:49

My Liberty has arrived! DD bought herself the fancy Body shop one.... we will be opening ours from 1st November as we go away for the whole of December.... can’t wait to start opening it 😁

Doilooklikeatourist · 21/10/2019 08:32

I’m looking for calendars for DH and ( grown up and moved out) DS
Found this helpful ( too many to choose from now ! )
www.hitched.co.uk/wedding-planning/fun/advent-calendars-for-men/
Don’t panic about the link , nothing to do with weddings !

FredaFox · 21/10/2019 20:38

I'm also waiting/ hoping for a discount on the look fantastic one, I saw they did a deal last black Friday just worried I'll miss out
Will get my mum m&s, she had l'occitane last year which was nice but repetitive
I'm upgrading from m&s to look fantastic(hopefully!)

notangelinajolie · 21/10/2019 20:38

Sitting on my hands waiting for some price reductions. Would love to buy my DD one to cheer her up but sadly my budget and the box I want are poles apart Sad

JessicaRarebit · 21/10/2019 20:39

In the end I’ve chose the Net a Porter. Liberty just too samey.

traveladdictsarah · 22/10/2019 00:27

JessicaRarebit - When did you buy the Net A Porter one? Been trying to get it for the past 5 days but it says sold out.

INeedAFlerken · 22/10/2019 01:11

I've ordered the Lumene calendar with a discount. Loved it last year.

Now trying to figure out what I could possibly need from M&S to get their advent calendar ... calendar is brilliant, but can't find anything on the site that I want. Except perhaps socks. Frustrating. Any ideas on what to buy there ... ?

Butterymuffin · 22/10/2019 01:20

Where is the Lumene one selling at a discount?

I found last year they either went on sale around
Black Friday, or around 5/6 December onwards, if you don't mind hanging on till then.

INeedAFlerken · 22/10/2019 01:26

I bought the Lumene calendar at the allbeauty.com site. If you search for a promo code, you can get an additional 10-15% off ... it worked on the calendar purchase. :)

INeedAFlerken · 22/10/2019 01:27

The SAVE10 code advertised on the actual site works, which is the one I ultimately used.

Housewife2010 · 22/10/2019 06:50

I bought the Lumene calendar a couple of weeks ago on Feel Unique. There was a code for 25% off selected skincare which included the calendar. I had it last year and it was excellent. The tinted moisturiser serum in it is gorgeous. (I'm still using last year's)

Housewife2010 · 22/10/2019 06:53

This beauty box looks fabulous value www.google.com/amp/s/www.reallyree.com/selfridges-beauty-collection-kit/amp/

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 22/10/2019 09:16

@INeedAFlerken last year you could spend it on toiletries etc so I bought royal jelly stuff got some relatives that absolutely love the stuff and some posh toiletries for the Christmas period for my grandad who's in a care home. Is there anything you could get as a present on the site and do it that way? 😊

9 days to go!

I've tried not to look too closely at the amazon one but what I did let myself see (quick skim over the contents to see what it's worth) doesn't look fantastic for fifty pounds. Ill buy it if it came down to thirty again in black Friday deals but I wouldn't at full price.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 22/10/2019 09:19

I've started a new pill and it's making me spotty as anything so I'm well on the way to using up a lot of the bits from last year to try and look after my skin hahaha Grin

Tell you what though, nothing is drying them up and stopping the soreness of the larger ones like good old sudacrem lathered on at night! Perhaps they could bring one out with little pots and things 😂😂😂

INeedAFlerken · 22/10/2019 10:12

I did ... an Elemis Christmas bundle I'll use ... so all ordered.

Just trying to figure out what on earth I could possibly need at M&S to order that one next week and be done. Nothing at M&S worth buying as far as I can tell. Clothes look awful! Don't have much in the way of beauty brands, that I use anyway. Can't even find a decent Christmas sweater which I could use as mine is pretty worn out ... No wonder the store is failing.

INeedAFlerken · 22/10/2019 10:15

Oh, my DD is getting the Harry Potter beauty calendar from Boots; already tucked away upstairs. It looks perfect for her.

My teenage boys don't go in for Beauty calendars ... funny that! ... they're getting Marvel and Star Wars special collectable coin calendars that look quite novel.

this really does look fab and I managed to order this morning. I have order confirmation. It was sold out minutes after I ordered it, I hope I get mine! Great price, and many look like full size products.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 22/10/2019 12:37

Place marking again. Thread disappeared from my 'I'm on'

banskuwansku · 22/10/2019 14:21

I am still waiting if Mugler will do any Xmas calendar. I will get M&S and I know what to buy.

Lumene is Finnish product which my mum has used for ages. I remember her using when I was a kid. I have actually worked in that factory as student producing various Lumene products. I have tried my mums creams and they were ok but I prefer others.
