Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

I’m returning my ASOS nyx today lol as I got so excited about the brand that I didn’t realise it’s just lips and eyes. Dd age 20 loves it tho so keeping hers
Just ordered the Holland and Barrett and code TAKETEN worked for 10% off a £35 spend

Gotthetshirt23 · 24/09/2019 11:23

Been looking at eBay - some of the prices are Shock
The LIBmas one for £100 etc
There's a Clinique one for £140 but looks very small samples !

Quite like the H&B one

banskuwansku · 24/09/2019 12:23

I don't want to spend huge amount of money on calendar. I am thinking to get m&s one if Mugler one is too expensive. If I were to buy one brand one it would be Origins. I got a free sample of it and I will swop to that brand after I have used my Clinique ones.

Butterymuffin · 25/09/2019 00:09

Why would anyone buy the LIB one for £100 on Ebay when it's only just gone on sale for £60 direct from LIB? I don't understand Ebay...

lalafafa · 25/09/2019 00:37

ASOS one is showing as sold out already.

Violetbird · 25/09/2019 06:47

The ASOS calendar is very good - the Elemis product alone is worth £84 normally, so more than the cost of the entire calendar

Writersblock2 · 25/09/2019 07:15

ASOS is still for sale. Last year’s shows as sold out.

It should also be noted the Elemis product is 30ml - it’s the full size (50ml) that’s worth £80+

I look forward to the M&S one because it's a different branded product every day and I enjoy the thread. It's also reasonably priced.

I'm very tempted to treat myself to the Elemis one. I love Elemis products so I think I'd use it all. Just feels a lot of money although I expect it's good value.

KatharinaRosalie · 25/09/2019 09:04

Net-a-Porter has most things I would actually use, I love oils and serums and they have several.

Writersblock2 · 25/09/2019 11:24

@KatharinaRosalie oooh how much is that one?

OP posts:
KatharinaRosalie · 25/09/2019 11:50

225, so it's a luxury purchase. They claim it's worth 790 though.

Anyone have experience on Boots No7 advent calendars?

Violetbird · 26/09/2019 20:40

Yes I've had the no7 advent calendar before. It is very good value if you like no7 but it's not so good for people who want to try different brands. It can also be quite smart - three nail varnish, 3 eyeshadows, etc etc.

TattiePants · 27/09/2019 10:06

Does anyone know when the Debenhams calendar will be on sale? I messaged their facebook page but they said they didn't have the info to hand (whatever that means!).

Writersblock2 · 27/09/2019 14:37

I may have caved and ordered Glossy Box (pre-order open to public today!). I’d use a lot of the items in this box. We will pretend I’ve not got three boxes so far. ShockConfused

Off to start a thread!

I had the Jo Malone one last year and it was disappointing for the money. It contained bath oils that hardly had any scent, moisturisers in tiny pots, a couple of candles that didn't last five minutes, a shower gel or two and the rest was perfume. The perfume samples were small and a lot of them smelt quite unremarkable. I ended up giving a lot of the perfumes away.

Anyway very expensive gift that I could have bought a really nice bottle of perfume with and decent cashmere jumper .....

Cherrypie32 · 27/09/2019 15:42

I watched an unboxing of a first ever Next calendar yesterday. Haven’t read the whole thread so might have been mentioned already? Really nice mix of product, 7 full size, £65.

dizzygirl1 · 27/09/2019 19:08

Hi looking for advent calendars for both myself and DD(13).
I'm trying to decide between Holland and Barrett or the body shop.
My budget is pretty low so £45 is the max for DDs.
Any advise welcome!!!

Writersblock2 · 27/09/2019 20:48

£45 each or for the two together? What are your preferences? Skin care, makeup? For a 13 year old I would look at either the Harry Potter Boots calendar, or if she likes baths then maybe Bomb Cosmetics (bath bombs and soaps). I don’t think I’d really go down the makeup root. For you, H&B is great if you want natural products. Or wait for the M&S at £40 when you spend £25.

Body shop could work for a 13 year old too. But I’d be leaning towards the HP personally!

OP posts:
dizzygirl1 · 27/09/2019 20:58

@writersblock2 it would be £45 each. Although DD likes make up she's said she would prefer a skincare advent. I will have to look at the Harry Potter calendar, I'm not sure what is in there.
Are the Bomb cosmetics good? I've never had them before!

Writersblock2 · 27/09/2019 21:09

They’re okay for the price. They aren’t as good as Lush, but they are a fraction of the price. They’re still fun. For mostly skincare at that price it might be tough. Have you looked at the link a few posts down on the first page? Loads of calendars are on there.

Body Shop may very well be your best option for DD.
