Beauty Advent Calendars 2019

Writersblock2 · 31/08/2019 06:33

It’s almost that time again! Anyone have their eye on anything?

There is a good overview here: www.marieclaire.co.uk/beauty/beauty-advent-calendars-2019-39069

I’m waiting on the M&S one as I loved it so much last year (no sign of it so far but I suspect it will be similar to 2018 for release date, so around start of November). I also like the look of the Look Fantastic and Nuxe but three may be pushing it. Grin

If money was no object I’d be on the Jo Malone and Lush calendars.

It’s tricly as outside of Christmas you don’t get such lovely collections of products in general. The year I had two advent calendars I did feel v guilty though! I saved one for Jan but still felt a bit ashamed

Belindabelle · 10/09/2019 12:52

My Liberty GWP arrived yesterday. It is a goodie. Mainly really decent sizes.

I have ordered the Look Fantastic advent too. Mainly for the Elemis Pro Marine which is worth #50. Not that I have ever bought it at full price.

chloechloe · 10/09/2019 21:45

I’m quite tempted to get the LF one for the marine cream too. I had it a few years back and really liked it —although I still have a few bits I haven’t used—.

I think I’ll go for the Fortnums one as my main treat. Does anybody know if they ship it to Europe?

grinch my hoard is out of control too but I still have at least 2 advents each year. In my defence I’ve hardly bought anything by way of beauty products this year, so I treat myself at Xmas. I also tell myself it’s a cost effective way of stocking up on things and trying new products!

HundredMilesAnHour · 10/09/2019 21:53

My Space NK GWP arrived today. Much better and bigger than I was expecting!!! I don't think I even need an advent calendar now I have both the Liberty and Space NK GWPs. The only one that can tempt me now is the Armani Beauty one......

SapphireSeptember · 10/09/2019 22:40

So Boots are doing a Harry Potter beauty advent calendar...

I must have it!

breaconoptimist · 10/09/2019 22:42

That boots hp calendar will sell like hot cakes!

SapphireSeptember · 10/09/2019 22:56

I know! I need two, one for me and one to send to my friend in France (cos Boots don't ship things there.) Asda did a HP jewellery one last year that I've just found on ebay (for a lot cheaper than people were flogging them last year too! Hmm, I wanted to last year but didn't want to pay loads more than it was worth.) Harry Potter and make up are two of my favourite things combined. Grin

I am feeling hugely virtuous and haven't purchased a beauty advent calendar this year. DH bought me the Liberty one last year, and it was absolutely lovely, but I still have products from it that I haven't even opened. There were hair products which I will never use, and although some of the other products were really nice, they weren't as good (in my mind) as other brand ones that I buy as staples. Bloody loved the Diptique candle, Pixi rose tonic and also the Dermalogica cleanser, but wasn't at all keen on the really pricey things that would have made it a good buy like the Dr Sebagh serum and Votary moisturiser.

I've kept the box as it was ever so beautiful, and I will give DH my miniatures and ask him to fill it up Smile. Maybe add a few chocs to mix it up!

I would absolutely love the Diptique or Jo Malone calendars, but they are super pricey. Tempted in a big way by the Elemis but my skincare stash is bloody enormous and i can't justify it. Polishing my halo (very unlike me).

breaconoptimist · 11/09/2019 09:50

diptyque has been one of my favourite finds from advent calendars too. I agree, hair products are such a broad range, something for frizzy hair or creating curls is never going to work for my baby fine hair!

It's the excitement of getting all those treats to look forward to isn't it, rather than the total underlying utility of all the products. People should get better at exchanges so they don't sit around all year!

Writersblock2 · 12/09/2019 07:54

I’ve still not ordered one. Decision fatigue! Has anyone received one (and opened it)?

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 12/09/2019 08:16

Not yet, but I think I'll get the Debenhams one. There's a full sized MAC Ruby Woo lipstick in it 😱

lololove · 12/09/2019 10:14

I've watched a few online ones (where the review ones have been sent out early) but not the glossy box one as I think I want to be unspoilt this year (other than a quick overview of what's inside to see if it's worth purchasing). Last year I had two and opened them when they arrived and it wasn't as much fun personally.

Having said that I'll likely end up doing it again hut there we go 😂

Def will get the M&S I think, most likely amazon again... Dont think I'll get any others unless they really stand out

TantricTwist · 12/09/2019 10:34

I love the M&S advent calendars, such a bargain and I use most items in them. Always a joy having that little box to open every day knowing I haven't spent a fortune on it.

Writersblock2 · 12/09/2019 12:07

@AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet OMG I’m in! Do you have a link with the contents?

www.google.ie/amp/s/www.reallyree.com/debenhams-beauty-advent-calendar-2019/amp/

I bought it for half price on Black Friday last year.
I loved it, but I would have been disappointed with it if I'd paid full price. Most of the contents were minuscule

Gotthetshirt23 · 12/09/2019 13:43

I'm going to look on Black Friday ....
Likely will get an M&S one as did last year and enjoyed .
Watching some of the Lush ones on eBay Shock
So much £££££

Gotthetshirt23 · 12/09/2019 13:45

@WellTidy sell what you don't use and put the money to another one ?

UndomesticHousewife · 12/09/2019 14:13

I get these for my teenage dds (18 & 19) I get the look fantastic ones usually as there's different branded products which are mostly good - a few that they don't use.
Last year I got the Mac calendars they were expensive but fabulous.

I'd like the Elemis for myself this year.

Offredismysister · 12/09/2019 19:27

I really wanted the cult beauty or space NK, but have cracked & pre ordered the look fantastic. Hopefully I’ll have the will power to not buy another.

breaconoptimist · 12/09/2019 19:34

Look fantastic does look very good this year, great value

lololove · 12/09/2019 20:36

Watched an ASOS video on youtube. I think she said it was 70 this year?

The youtuber reviewing it practically climaxes over every box she opens (on every video...) but the contents seemed pretty good and it looks nicely put together.

FredaFox · 12/09/2019 21:07

Last few years I've been m&s and got my mum l,occitane last year, I wouldn't buy a one brand calendar again, items nice but there's only so much shower gel and soap you want!t this year mum is having m&s and I'm upgrading to look fantastic I think though some of the more expensive ones seem amazing! Might have to really think about them!

babooshkamybush · 13/09/2019 16:58

I might have ordered the asos one (then opened all of it and then reboxed it). Blush

The shame.

Alsohuman · 13/09/2019 17:17

Just given in and ordered the Asos one. It goes straight under the bed until 1 December.

CopperTrolley · 16/09/2019 10:49

The Rituals advent calendar is now available online for anyone else who was considering that one. I’ve ordered the 3D one, which apparently comes with battery operated lights as part of the decoration this year.
