I'm a book buying addict! Fuzzy

Always have been a big reader..My parents used to accuse me of 'always having my nose in a book' and 'not being sociable' ( sitting watching TV) with them.. Strange really , its what lots of parents seem to want these days. They just worried that I would become a 'bluestocking' (i suppose I did )

I am still a total book worm ... Reading is my only 'hobby'! , (I read 12 books on holiday.. ) in fact that's what I am about to go off an do now even though its only 8pm .. Early night , tea and my book

FuzzyPuffling · 30/07/2019 20:28

I went round to a friend's this afternoon and we did a book swap of favourites!

ilovecherries · 30/07/2019 20:28

I love books. Even here (in our not-home) we have three over-flowing bookcases. I’m trying to use kindle more but it’s not early the same.

I'm going to sit on my hands with the olive Chamonix.. They are lovely and I'm sure I will justify them to myself in a week or so, knowing me , but they are actually the exact same colour as the Olive Keiras..

I have spend so much in the Toast sale I can surely go a little while cant I ? no, probably not, FOMO!! Grin

Laska2Meryls · 30/07/2019 20:38

.. so who is going to take the bets that I crumble pretty quickly ?

neveradullmoment99 · 30/07/2019 21:27

I thought you'd ordered them this morning @Laska!!!!
Well its absolutely NO spend for me. I love the red diamond dress but still debating if I can afford to keep it or if I will wear it. I am not sure I can post it back though as I really love it.
As for books, I do like reading but I go through phases.
Drawing and painting are my thing but In reality It ends up getting shelved cause I have work and feel too stressed to do it.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/07/2019 21:31

So what kind of books do you like to read @laska? I cant remember the last one I read. I do have a kindle but haven't used it that much this year.

neveradullmoment99 · 30/07/2019 21:33

Probably Stephen king. I am a huge Stephen king fan.

dontcallmelen · 30/07/2019 22:11

I’m the same as you Never have phases, but must admit even though I have recovered pretty well from the stroke, my concentration levels are no where as good & I don’t retain information so well so have tended to stick to fairly ‘light’ reading material.
Laska reckon you will crumble by the end of the week😂

neveradullmoment99 · 30/07/2019 22:23

@justilou1 love the colours in the palettes. Your face painting skills are fab!!

Ellapaella · 30/07/2019 23:24

@justilou1 you are fantastic at make up! Really great. I am a big make up fan.. I love Nars and have just bought a foundation of theirs to try for the first time, it's brilliant, just as good as my usual Estée Lauder and far less cakey. I've got a Mac lipstick addiction at the moment.. keep trying new ones and finding more colours to try.

Book worm here too...
For my holidays (we go away for nearly 2.5 weeks next Tuesday) I have:
Skint Estate - Cash Carraway
Frenchman's Creek - Daphne Du Maurier as you can't beat a bit of Daphne when in the South West
The Salt Path - as recommended by Huff
Only 3 paperbacks yo take but I'll get through a few more on my kindle as well. I can't get to sleep at night until I've read a few chapters, much prefer reading over watching TV.

justilou1 · 31/07/2019 01:02

@ilovecherries - I can just picture your happy doggie now! What a lovely surprise having DD home! I hope my kids are just as close when they grow up. They have promised that they will be!!! (My son has made plans to keep coming home for certain meals...)

justilou1 · 31/07/2019 02:55

Thanks @Ella! Just an extension of painting. I love colours. You will love Nars foundations. Their formulas are stunning. I don’t usually like their powders, but the palettes I bought are a new formula and they are so different. Just gorgeous. They’re satiny and easy to work with and stunningly pigmented, which is generally not a combination that normally happens!

twosoups1972 · 31/07/2019 07:32

@Laska2Meryls I thought of you when I saw the olive Chamonix 😂😂😂

What are everyone’s thoughts on the leather mini?

Laska2Meryls · 31/07/2019 07:40

I don't really have a type of book , just those I fancy! ( Do have a bit of scandi noir habit though .. ill blame that on Danish reles introducing me to Jussi Adler Olsen..)
Some Books I read on holiday I cam recommend.
Big sky and Transcription both Kate Atkinson
All among the Barley ,Melissa Harrison ( loved this)
My sister the serial killer,Oyinka Braithwaite ( brilliant)
Middle England, Johnathan Coe
Lethal white, Robert Galbraith
The lost man, Jane Harper. (really good)
The Convenience store woman,Sayaka Murata ( so good , a bit weird)
The good sister, Morgan Jones
The Terror Dan Simmons ( this is about finding the Northwest passage and some inuit folklore)

All good..

Laska2Meryls · 31/07/2019 07:43

Leather mini is great, a bit Cathy McGowan. ,( that Ages me somewhat.!)

Laska2Meryls · 31/07/2019 07:55

I need to get thin enough again to be able to get back into my leather leggings Angry

Laska2Meryls · 31/07/2019 08:29

Wearing new Toast wide trousers ( dropped crotch ones) and Hush coral linen raw edge T to work..lets see if I can get away with it!

ilovecherries · 31/07/2019 08:31

Leather mini is lovely. I have a burgundy one I bought in Spain last summer which I wore a fair bit over the winter, and a black Boden one I bought for £7.50 from the hospice shop. When I got it home, I realised it was a bit smelly so I crossed my fingers and washed it with leather detergent and conditioner from the saddlers. It came out like new, so I’m looking forward to wearing it when the weather is cooler. I also have leather leggings Blush, which would probably have half of mumsnet frothing about, but I love them, I just dress them down.

I used to want to BE Cathy McGowan when I grew up, also showing my age. I think she’s be what - maybe mid 70s now?

dontcallmelen · 31/07/2019 10:01

Showing my age as well, she was very stylish.

dontcallmelen · 31/07/2019 10:02

Just meant to say, the make up pictures are amazing.

justilou1 · 31/07/2019 10:31

Thanks @Melen... amazing what you can do with loo paper and eyelash glue!

ilovecherries · 31/07/2019 10:58

We are having a lovely lazy couple of days. Rain has pretty much tipped it down, and DD is shattered (and hopefully not coming down with H/F/M which I’m fairly sure she’s never had). We’ve chatted, read, watched Netflix and she’s cuddled the dog pretty constantly. We may rouse ourselves to go out for coffee later. We’ll take her home on Thursday evening as her work is reopening on Friday, and DH and me both have dental appt at home on Sat, so need to make the journey anyway. And next week she’s joining me in London for half the week.

twosoups1972 · 31/07/2019 11:54

Sounds lovely @cherries Hope dd is ok.

We've just got back from the airport after picking dd up after her trip away. She's been away 3 weeks with a youth group organisation. She had a great time, there were lots of emotional goodbyes at the airport. She's shattered after a night flight and has gone to bed.

Clothes wise - was reading in the T2 section of The Times today about a brand called Nobody's Child - anyone heard of them? They are very green/ethically minded. I've just had a look and they have some great dresses very reasonably priced. Think I might be making an order! You can get 15% off first order.
