But I tell you what I’m definitely definetely too modest and conservative compared to the crazy outfits I’ve witnessed over the last few days Wink

SoyYo · 27/07/2019 16:48

Yes you Scandinavians are not ones to easily blush either Grin

dontcallmelen · 27/07/2019 18:56

Ooh Soy sounds a brilliant if a bit exhausting weekend, nothing like live music glad you had a great time.
Pictures of my holiday shoe shop that I forgot to post, the wedges are Castaner ones if anyone is looking for some really pretty colours & different styles throughly recommend they are really comfy as well.
The black ones are dune.

Lovely Len! I've been lusting after some Castaner espadrilles. They are gorgeous. As are the other pairs you got.

Sounds like a lot of fun Soy and great outfit choices for the festival! 🤘

justilou1 · 28/07/2019 00:00

@HuffthepuffHuff-Gudrun Jacket is divine! I bet you wear that one for years!!!
@EllapaellaEspadrilles are exactly what I have been looking out to buy for this summer. Haven’t seen anything available yet on this side of the equator.
@NotAnActualSheep Kitty is sooooo cute! My herd and I would love a cat. Not sure it would be safe with Ivy dog. Also DH would leave. (Hmmmm.... tempting! 🧐😏🤔🤫. He claims he’s allergic to them but there has never been any evidence. One day I will get one!!!)
@dontcallmelen &@SoyYo I completely get the phobia thing though, I am like the woman from the old-style Warner Bros cartoons if I encounter any kind of rodent (there is a valid reason) I want to stand on anything high and screech and scream until they’re gone. Their little feet and baldy tails give me the icks. Hamsters and guinea pigs are included. Also really not fond of things with feathers, but it’s because of their disease-carrying abilities. And the flapping. (*shudders) They’re okay in trees a long distance away, but not near me. Also, you know how birds in Europe sing, whistle, chirp, twitter, cheep and tweet? In Australia, they screech and yell and squawk and squeal and gargle and shriek. There are very few delicate little bird calls, and I am struggling to think of any I could describe as “song”.

SoyYo · 28/07/2019 10:00

I love your espadrilles and sandals len Totally gorgeous choices!

justi yes I think most people have their little animal or insect phobias (for example I’m not fond of spiders but they don’t petrify me like my older DS). The bird thing with me is because when I was very tiny I’m told I used to be obsessed with chicks 🐥 you know the cute little fluffy type and apparently we were visiting people that kept a huge aviary and chickens. Basically I annoyed a cockerel 🐓 who chased me away by pecking me and I guess when you’re 2 years old a huge old cockerel is a mean terrifying beast. I’m okay with birds as long as I’m a distance away and can admire the beauty of a flamingo or a hummingbird...once someone I knew brought round my house their pet cockatoo and I said please keep it on the cage. Before I knew it they let it fly and the thing went and perched on my head, I thought I was going to die! 😫OMG I was literally petrified while whispering “please take it away NOW” 😂 let’s just say I’ll never keep chickens eh.
But any mammal or even frogs/reptiles don’t bother me at all and I like dogs, cats and most other pets including hamsters, etc.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2019 11:40

Soy your story about the cockerel 😱🤣
I have developed a bit of a phobia with pet fur/feathers. My cat would leve clumps everywhere and i honestly though i was going to be sick. I think thats what it stemmed from. Poor cat. It was very old but i hated it. Because of this i cannot stand seeing certain thing including when my dh shaves and there are small cut hairs over the sink!!! So odd! I know its irrational but it makes me feel sick.
Im not fond of spiders but have a terrible fear of wasps because one went up my blouse years ago and stung me in my back😵

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2019 11:41

Leave not leve!

neveradullmoment99 · 28/07/2019 11:41

I hated the fur not the cat🤣

Skirt looks great the trainers. Just thrown it on to show. Tank is a lovely cotton and looks so much better in real life. Bought to wear with a shirt under but looks ok with nothing under.

justilou1 · 28/07/2019 12:17

@SoyYo - my rodent phobia was from staying at my great aunt’s farm when I was very little. They used to harvest grain at the end of the summer and store it in silos to be moved on giant grain trains. When the grains were harvested, many critters were made homeless and “plagues” of them would move into homes, etc... I remember opening a cupboard to be greeted by a wave of biting rats pouring like water onto my forearms which I was holding up to protect my face and neck. (Many vaccinations for Weils disease and Tetanus later...) I had nightmares for years. In my mind they are still bigger than cats. I think I must have been about four years old, and all I can see is glittery eyes, weird, pinky hand-like feet and their awful tails. Blah!!!

justilou1 · 28/07/2019 12:19

And @SoyYo... cockatoos are the most bad-tempered, ornery, vindictive birds you are ever likely to meet. Not surprised you wanted that thing off your head. If they don’t like you, you can end up needing stitches!!!

dontcallmelen · 28/07/2019 12:45

Oh Just they are my biggest fear as well, I can’t even write the name that why I think I’m scared of cats etc as they sort of move in the same way, I felt literally ill just reading it’s got worse as I’ve older as well.
Yy bout birds as well the flapping & squawking totally get it.
never really fab buys, Matalan do have some real gems sometimes.

twosoups1972 · 28/07/2019 14:34

@melen beautiful shoes, I love them all Smile And your toenails look very pretty too.

twosoups1972 · 28/07/2019 14:35

I forgot to mention that I managed to get a pair of the navy starry culottes from Hush. Love them! Wore them to travel in, they are so comfy and the fabric feels lovely.

twosoups1972 · 28/07/2019 14:35

And I really really shouldn't buy any more dresses but have just seen this from Boden:

dontcallmelen · 28/07/2019 15:12

Thanks for the shoe love, really really need to stop with the shoes now though😳 ooh Soups lovely dress & must admit those hush culottes look as though they would be very stylish & comfortable👍🏼

miffy2 · 28/07/2019 17:15

Quick question for those that bought the 100 Stars kimonos. I caved and got he burgundy moorish one, the long version that is on sale. What do you do with the belt? I don't like it tied, and it doesn't look too good when it is tied at the back. Did anyone cut it off?

SoyYo · 28/07/2019 18:09

Wow! Like your Matalan bargains never, the bag is super and the skirt and top look great 👍

Also I’m laughed and nodded head in agreement at all the animal/critters phobias. Specially justi poor you with those horrid rats 😱

miffy I have the same kimono but I actually wear it as a summer dressing gown i know right 🤦🏻‍♀️
I think those that wear it as a fashion kimono just loosely tie it at the back. Sorry I’m not help there but I’m sure someone will be along to advice soon...I do love it though and if I wanted it as a dual option kimono (you know dressing gown and floaty fashion kimono) that’s what I’d do rather than cut out the tie and then be left with a single option Wink

Ellapaella · 28/07/2019 18:10

@neveradullmoment99 love all your Matalan bargains!

Ellapaella · 28/07/2019 18:10

The straw bag is almost identical to the Hush one
