Couldn't think of any sort of creative title, I'm afraid! Link to old thread

The sunnies sound lovely Ella and did look very summery in the pic you shared, glad you’re keeping! As for the Levis oh well...you lose some and you win some Wink

SoyYo · 29/07/2019 19:33

Agree never with 20% I’d try their tuxedo jacket on the PR shots and may even be tempted to go for an Onyx leather jacket in navy.
Without I’m not ordering anything Angry too early in the season to spend money on autum gear and too late to waste more on summer stuff.
No spend bench is looking very comfy right now Smile

twosoups1972 · 29/07/2019 20:20

Love both trousers @Laska2Meryls looking good.

Thanks @Soy would you say those brands are better than Cantu? Hairdresser said Cantu was aimed at afro hair so not really right for dd.

@dontcallmelen oh no what a worry for them! I hope they manage to get it sorted quickly. Bring on the wine/gin/chocolate! But I'm sure it's lovely having your lovely dgd to stay even given the circumstances.

twosoups1972 · 29/07/2019 20:22

I am cowering upstairs. Dd3 currently has 4 school friends over for a sleepover. The noise! And it's only 8.15! Actually they are lovely girls, very polite at dinner, took their plates over etc, said thank you. Really lovely. I just have to watch dd carefully. On the face of it, she seems very happy and relaxed but given her autism diagnosis, she might be finding it stressful. It's hard to tell really.

twosoups1972 · 29/07/2019 20:23

And dd1 left early this morning for her inter-railing trip. They have arrived safely in Amsterdam, that's all I know so far!

ilovecherries · 29/07/2019 21:09

Oh god, sleepovers. Argh. One thing I don’t miss about kids!

len, I’m not sure who to commiserate with most, but glad you are on hand with a safe roof and it’s not too exhausting!

soups, my dd went to India for 4 months to work on a community health project. No contact all the time they were away as they were deep in a tribal area. I didn’t sleep properly for months! Hope she has a fab time - is she with friends?

twosoups1972 · 29/07/2019 21:29

Yes she’s with 6 friends including her best friend. And another 4 are coming out next week. They’re all sensible girls and know all the safety rules. It’s just weird for me knowing I’ve got an adult daughter now (although dd would dispute that 😂😂)

Laska2Meryls · 30/07/2019 09:55

Im wearing one of my favourite uk summer outfits today, Hush chambray skirt and red striped linen raw edge top also red saltwaters..

Laska2Meryls · 30/07/2019 09:57

Oh yes and new stuff !! Madame Laska dies it again.. ! Ill look properly later though..

justilou1 · 30/07/2019 10:29

Damn... started writing and lost it!!! I bought these two palettes from Nars. The browns look boring in the photo, but in reality, they’re stunning. I am chucking out all my old crap in favour of these. They are so easy to work with and they make my eyes really blue. The purples make my eyes super green and they’re stunning for night time. These are idiot-proof, and super-flattering! I bought hair thickening goop and eyebrow felt-tip liner. High-end stuff I would never consider if I didn’t have a voucher that needed using up. And tanning spray. This could be amusing....

justilou1 · 30/07/2019 10:30

The palettes!!! Forgot to attach!!!

Ohhh I love the colours in those!

Funnily enough I’m craving new make up at the moment too! Ordered a Bobbi Brown lipstick yesterday - hoping it’s the perfect peachy shade I’m after but I think it may be a little too pink. I don’t often shop for make up in person so for lipsticks it’s pretty much a guessing game since it’s almost impossible to accurately convey colour onscreen. If this one turns out not to be right I may have to bite the bullet and go on an actual buying expedition as I’ve bought a few fairly expensive ones that haven’t been right - lovely colours but not a true peach.

Valiantly resisting another eyeshadow palette for now, but it will be the first thing I buy when something sells on eBay,

Laska2Meryls · 30/07/2019 11:20

I like the new Denim boxy jacket but since I have two wren jackets already there's no room in my wardrobe for it.. I will be getting the Olive Chamonix though ..

twosoups1972 · 30/07/2019 11:21

@justilou1 they look lovely. I have a couple of Lily Lolo palettes that I like but I am rubbish at doing eyeshadow! Do you use more than one colour when you do yours?

Huffthepuff · 30/07/2019 11:54

I like the Fenella shirt. Looks like it might come up quite large?

justilou1 · 30/07/2019 11:55

I am really, really good at doing makeup on other people. I did a stage makeup elective when I was studying music. (And loves art at high school, etc... Was a toss-up between art and music, tbh...) I am good at prosthetic makeup, also. Love the fun and magic, but don’t get to play very often. (Also now live and work in a fairly casual society, thank goodness!) I am not quite as confident working with the changing canvas of my aging face!!! I don’t like the pseudo drag looks of insta-girls, and won’t even try, which is why these palettes were appealing. The colours and textures just worked like water colours for me. Here are some old examples of some fun make I have done for DD2 & DH.

justilou1 · 30/07/2019 11:59

Palettes are Nars Summer Lights (Browns) and Hot Nights. (Purples). The purples are being posted, but I have worn the Browns for the last two days and they are even better than I anticipated!

justilou1 · 30/07/2019 12:01

Btw, old crap was really, really old... and cheap. Probably quite evolved by now. 🤢

ilovecherries · 30/07/2019 12:04

lou, these are lovely. I don’t buy lots of makeup, but when I do, I like high end. And I like my lipsticks to add a bit of handbag bling :)

Had a nice surprise yesterday, the drama school DD has been running over summer decided to close for a few days because of galloping H/F/M amongst the kids, so she phoned and said ‘the last train leaves in 10 mins. If I jump on it will you meet me at midnight’ Was so happy to see her. She keeps enough clothes here to get by on, and what she doesn’t have, she steals from me Grin. I thought the dog was going to die of excitement when we walked in the door with her, and she (the dog), padded about between the two bedrooms all night conducting head counts.

Anyway, DD has ruthlessly gone through my new purchases and given me a telling off along the lines of ‘for heavens sake mum, when are you going to stop buying clothes that are too big for you!! It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe that you could be a size 10. If it’s too big, the label is irrelevant’ All said while circling me like a panther, tugging at loose fabric, and tutting loudly. On the back of that, I am returning all 3 of the Toast dresses, AND the wide leg trousers from them. My bank account is happy. My outfit planning for next week however is completely up the spout.

Awww cherries your daughter is lovely and the image of your happy dog really cheered my heart! And now your bank balance gets to be happy too!! 👍

I love a good bit of lipstick handbag bling too. I’ve long resisted buying some really beautiful, quite expensive lipsticks (Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs et al) because I could see myself getting properly addicted...

I think I’ll sit and look through my make up today - I find that reminding myself of all the lovely things I already own helps to slake that craving for new stuff. I’m going to treat myself soon enough but I’m going to try to wait until a) I’ve earnt on eBay and b) there’s a % off.

dontcallmelen · 30/07/2019 18:18

Sorry only had a chance to skim read, the makeup is lovely. I’m quite fond of a bit of high end make up, especially Dior eyeshadow & lipstick usually very lucky & dd treats me for my birthday, do also like Superdrug cleaners/night creams etc which are good value.
Ok so back to the drama, dd & dh’s flat is a leasehold & repairs managed by an agent, they have been reporting leaks for months & couldn’t go ahead with planned bathroom refurbishment due to leaks any completely ignored by said company, Sil finally contacted CEO sent a leak detector out yesterday, he said bath was about to fall through the floor & water cylinder about to also collapse through floor so had to leave flat immediately, supposedly a loss adjuster attend last night or this morning, no fecking sign until Friday what dd etc were meant to do if they couldn’t come here, I have no idea☹️

FuzzyPuffling · 30/07/2019 20:02

Checking in.
I have no new clothes but did just buy a load of books.

FuzzyPuffling · 30/07/2019 20:03

EEK len your poor DD. What a massive pain and inconvenience.

dontcallmelen · 30/07/2019 20:06

Thanks Fuzzy me either, am officially on no spend bench until October, enjoy the books.
